I think this is more on financial management already. I allocate certain budget for stocks - be it buy and hold or buy and sell and I never mixed the money with the expenses money. Even when I want to buy new house, I am still allocating enough money only proceed. If you cannot allocated enough money for emergency and other purpose, means it is your financial management having problem. From 1st day I invest till now, I never use those money at all - this include the div that I get. So, my suggestion is work on your financial management if you did not have enough allocation for expenses + emergency.

What I can think off is, the current price already priced in the 30c one time off div, but the ex-date is yet to be announced and we could still be long way to be there. My hunch is telling me, the price will be sideline for quite sometime until ex-date is near. This round my div from this counter will break 4 digit already

True, but doesn't really matters as I have already gained about 25% at least from capital appreciation, not to mention the share div + bonus issues that I get at 0 cost.
