QUOTE(cherroy @ Apr 26 2012, 11:05 AM) I no mean for cocky part, Speaking from my shallow experience, this is true. Without much buying and selling repeatedly, which make broker house earn big and remisier rich (no offence), sometimes just holding a bunch of good stocks, one's performance can be miles better than buy, sell, buy sell constantly. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Apr 26 2012, 11:12 AM) Last time, I was also has the same thinking like that. Sell, buy back later. I feel you. I wish I can buyback RM1.40 Axreit that I sold years ago.So I sold GAB, Carlsberg, at RM5.xx Rm6.xx, look where are they now. I also sold Rothmans (now BAT), at Rm2x.xx, look how much it is now. I am better off with holding those stocks tightly, (no sell button), instead buy sell for 50x in the market (which not even know can make a profit, may as well loss) for the next 5 to 10 years. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Apr 26 2012, 11:56 AM) Eh? How did the question of market timing arise? I no nuts about market timing. Small question: 'market timing' and 'price timing' any difference? I believe there is a saying, never put all eggs into one basketSome have promoted the 'no sell button' strategy. I only asked 'When crisis come, can you afford to not 'touch' the shares you hold?' because if one needs money during the crisis, could one afford not to 'touch' the shares they hold? You do investment, at the same time, you also have a portion of money for emergency. When crisis come, that's the purpose of the emergency money. |

QUOTE(Boon3 @ Apr 26 2012, 12:03 PM) This is the very issue one have to address. Many say buy this and that. All also buy and 'no sell'. Unlimited funds? What about emergency money? Have one made adequate allocation for emergency money? What if allocation not enough? lol that is the reason why you work lor.Unless you wan to tell me you own a 24 hours money printing machine at home |

Nestle to maintain prices for key products over next few months, says MD
KUALA LUMPUR (April 26): NESTLE (M) BHD [] will not increase prices for its key products, Milo and Maggi, in the next few months, said its managing director Peter R. Vogt. Close to the second half of last year, the company increased the price of its Milo products by about 4%-6%. Speaking after the company's AGM on Thursday, Vogt said that raw material prices such as cocoa beans and cocoa powder are relatively high at the moment and will probably stay high. He said Nestle is taking cost control measures to offset the impact from the high commodity prices. http://www.theedgemalaysia.com/business-ne...s-says-md-.html |

QUOTE(skiddtrader @ Apr 26 2012, 03:51 PM) Yeah, I still remember buying it based on 6% yield at that time. Over time already >10% yield. All thanks to the forummers here for advice. Classic example! Beauty of dividends & long term investment. QUOTE(skiddtrader @ Apr 26 2012, 04:00 PM) Yes. I always calculate based on my initial capital commitment. Every year the dividends received is considered my capital repayment, so every year my actual capital invested is reduced. This means over time, the dividends will ultimately pay for the share itself. I did the same way, too. The DY you see in the newspapers or research reports are always based on current prices. |
