But somehow, not so sure how its applied in Malaysia. Or perhaps the developer don't want to bear the extra cost for higher level balcony. |

better to hv balcony on high floors coz u can plant some tree at balcony to look green, otherwise your view will be oni sky when u sit on the sofa. more soothing, trust me.
low floor without balcony is ok coz u can view the tree on ground or landscape, at least some view not too plain |

I know many people tend to like balconies....me included at one time or another but I tell you, I rather not have one.
You will end up not really using it. It also traps all sorts of garbage thrown by the people above you. You got no idea how many cigarette butts and cotton buds landed in mine over the years. Its another chore to keep it clean from the dust and rain water. Balconies can be an eye sore as well when occupants hang and dry their clothes there. I have a balcony for each room and I never go out or use it except for drying clothes but mine is a landed prop. Recently I bought a condo with no balcony this time and will not miss it. Of course no balcony doesnt mean no view or wind. We still get a full height windows. Only problem is how to clean the outside window panes? Forget what others say. Ask yourself, is the balcony to impress your guest when they come visit or a spot for you to enjoy and relax? I stay on the 20th floor. Initially, I thought I would spend time out there and I could have a partial view of the city skyline. After staying there for the past 6 years, I can tell you I hardly go out there. I do open the sliding door to allow cool breeze in when it rains. Otherwise, it's shut.

I personally prefer high floor with balcony. But d question is how many will go out to balcony, esp high flr, except smoking. I previously stay in a 56th flr apartment while on vacation, unrestricted view, but nvr step out of balcony during my 5 days stay.. hehe

it depend what condo. if u live in hi end it is good to hv balcony. eg klcc condo with nice skylight view, neon lights etc
u dun hv rubbish problem in hi end condo. no one hang clothes in hi end condo, they hv designated area (yard) to hang clothes or the condo come with dryer machine. i personally enjoy to hv balcony, especially when u feel bore and want to makan angin...quite relaxing. i like to see the neon lights u feel good to live in the city centre. if u stay low or mid cost condo, then better dun hv balcony and waste build up area. |

30 Floors goes wasted without balconies!
In fact for my low floor i even thought of setting up a hanging chair that is hooked onto the balcony ceiling (dunno how to describe) But 30 floors, a very highly dense condo i suppose |

If you can be creative and turn the balcony into a place which can intergrate seamlessly with the living area, eg. a mini garden with wooden planking, it will be a nice place to have. If you just want to have it to hang clothes then might as well dont have it, it will be an eyesore.

For me high-rise condo or apartment... balcony is a must unless it's like 50th floor or something. My rationale is... why buy high rise and can't enjoy the breeze and view?
I've seen many without balcony and just felt too enclosed for me. |

Balcony is quite nice to have, not a must unless you need to smoke or dry your clothes.
and i do agree cigarette butts and all sorts of other rubbish will accumulate there, that is why it is good to stay at the top floor of a condo. atleast second from the top if you cant afford the penthouse. |

My point of view, you will enjoy balcony in the first year of occupied, and after that, you will hardly step on it. Reason:
1. You need to clean it very often, otherwise your feet will be all black. 2. Raining time, got balcony= no balcony. Sometimes will float if something stuck on the water hole example leaf or slipper, etc. |

Its easy, but might need MC approval la.
Get one with balcony. Install full height window at the balcony. Dont like balcony, close the window, becomes part of the living room, a small office or library. Like balcony, open the window, and viola...it is still balcony where by you can enjoy your views or breeze as whenever you like it. |

Most people would imagine the fantasied version of a 30th floor balcony. I have stayed in one in Sydney before and it was unusable. The wind is too fierce for it to have any use. And no, you would not want to stand on the balcony to enjoy the view. With the door securely locked, the view is much nicer and calmer. For me I think 20 something is the cut off point. No balcony above that. Or perhaps I am just too much of a coward to enjoy a balcony. Either way, you choose. If you think about it, the reason why you close up your balcony with windows is because it didnt serve it purpose.
That would just be like a living room with windows but with no balcony. |

For studio units, the balcony will be a waste of space however for units above 1000sqf, no problem.

This is the problem with studio or small unit. I agree need balcony for mini garden and sometimes relax with fresh air especially when have gathering with friends. Clothes can dry in back yard, usually condo above 1000sf will have. Otherwise balcony is a good clothes dryer, overnight or few hours daytime kautim.

QUOTE(michaellee @ Apr 11 2012, 10:45 AM) I wonder how many people replied here actually stayed in 30th floor with a balcony before. When the wind too fierce, the sound from the gap very scaryAdded on April 11, 2012, 11:48 am bro, technically speaking, under the deeds of mutual covenants, you are not allowed to install anything that would change the external facade of the properties, which usually includes grills as well. Most of the high rise you have seen in Malaysia that owners actually modified are actually against the deed of mutual covenants that they have signed. |

A balcony needs to be sizable, not oversized though (waste of payable built up also). Sizable is such as you could put 2 rattans chairs with a coffee table. The trend is such as the length from dining expanding to living or shared between living and bedroom, thus is also functional. It would be windy. Depending on how you put your clothes out there, it wont be an eyesore on hanging drying rods or extension but hang over the railing yes - most likely a proper managed properties would not allowed such incident.

Think it depends if you have a view or not. If you’re facing another tower of units then perhaps not but fine if you’re facing facilities.

Balconies usually end up being idle most of the time. Unless you like growing things I guess

I don’t open much but when I open, the breeze is cooling, air cond feel.
So I guess you can also open window if you want. It’s like a car with sun or panaromic roof, if got open once in while. If don’t have then live with it |

Sometimes for the exhibitionist in us, showing your privates to the world is very freeing.

Access to a balcony on 34 floor in a condo in wangsamaju
KLCC view is superb, but considering kids with me kind of scary though. Invisible grill is a must |

QUOTE(frequency @ Feb 4 2023, 11:56 AM) Access to a balcony on 34 floor in a condo in wangsamaju When it gets to the point that you worry about this then it’s time to upgrade to landed. KLCC view is superb, but considering kids with me kind of scary though. Invisible grill is a must Don’t understand people, there’s singles or childless couples that want landed. And there’s full nuclear families who try to stay in condo. Both sides complain after a period of time. |
