QUOTE(BuFung @ Apr 14 2012, 10:57 AM) Ying oh..... very QUOTE(ben3003 @ Apr 14 2012, 11:01 AM) actually drl is a safety feature, it is just like a motorcycle tat u open ur headlight in day time but it is wasting power to open headlight at daytime, so they use DRL instead.. And how a positioning light is not a safety feature. It function exactly the same as DRL. Preve seem to be functioning the same as VW DRL, except the name(Driven passat and scirocco in UK). DRL on, Rear also light on. Except you can't turn it off. And that IS a safety feature. Not just some fancy DRL, but when needed the car at your rear can't see you were there. if its LED, wont be consume much power, perhaps modify with separate small size battery without messing the fuse box which could void warranty.
also can add-in in-car ambient light, and video recorder.

As I can remember for the DRL, according to Euro law, power must be produced by the engine. Not sure how proton "positioning lights" works though. so Preve, front LED light (DRL/parking light/positioning light) can be turn on without the headlights right?
once turn on, rear led brake light will on as well? then its logical enough for safety reason.
some driver, may not notice a car in front, either they are sleepy, dark tint, hazy day, raining.....coz some driver never switch on lights when visibility is low. this could be accident prone.
i would rather have DRL and rear led light on, car battery not that expensive to replace.
perhaps proton, shld think of adding power regenerative motor in future non-hybrid car, so that it can be useful to power in-car gadgets, lights and stuff.

Then it is a DRL, I always thought it was the front that lights up yes, but some maker doesn't set it like that for all the car it make. BMW for example, all rear on except for 1 series(need coded so that it can set, the rear will switch on with the DRL ) This post has been edited by MrssV: Apr 14 2012, 11:59 AM

those who intend to buy car next year, u may have your own special plate if u can afford to pay credit: PaulTan QUOTE Don’t see the big deal in ‘WWW’ number plates? Reports emerged earlier this week saying that vehicle owners will be allowed to bid for personalised vehicle registration numbers (NPP) from 2013. Cars, bikes, lorries and buses are eligible, but not taxis. There’s clearly a demand for such things, so it makes sense for JPJ to increase their revenue.
“The NPP is one of the new initiatives by the JPJ to members of the public. We will be able to introduce it once our computer system is upgraded and new security features are incorporated,” said JPJ director-general Datuk Solah Mat Hassan. JPJ was allocated RM282 million to upgrade its system as part of the Government Transformation Programme.
Solah explained that the bidding exercise will be divided into two categories, namely exclusive and non-exclusive. A non-exclusive NPP can belong to more than one individual while an exclusive one is the property of one person. The non-exclusive NPPs will be cheaper and offered via a tender exercise. For exclusive NPPs, JPJ will determine the cost to the bidder.
“The bidder will then have the right for the NPP from numbers 1 to 9999,” he said, adding that the JPJ had yet to finalise the cost for the NPPs. Also not yet finalised is the the number of characters that would be allowed for such registration plates.
Current vehicle owners can bid too, but they will need to buy a new vehicle to place their existing number on. Finally, our cars can wear their names with pride. In my dreams, I have a cili padi called Megan. What’s yours? This post has been edited by stargate8: Apr 14 2012, 12:16 PM

Many Malaysian still think Proton is ripping off us while actually the most evil is Toyota. I hv to admit that Toyota produce a reliable car but come on la, 70k kosong spec vs 70k fully loaded. Not to mention better styling and look compare to the dugong like front face with weird propotion wheel.

They just got too confident about their badge and decided to sell expensive cars with old technology
