First of. Omaigawd. You guys can post a lot man. 15 pages? Lol.
QUOTE(sonyman @ Apr 16 2012, 10:58 PM)
that is the problem, previously if they have improve and produce good quality car we wont have this mindset.
if proton 20 years ago, produce great cars with good reliability, i am very sure we will buy them, then no need to impose tax. if proton produce great quality cars, no one will buy dugong. or Siti.
but they dont. they produce shit cars. Only because of Proton Steve jobs make a new car. some of us began to respect his creation, not the company.
so conclusion is, if this Preve sucks then forever proton will be badge low quality cars.
This is so true. I think of this car as Proton's last chance. The last Ace they hold. They mess this up...buhbye.
QUOTE(kcng @ Apr 17 2012, 01:31 AM)
nope...
the acceleration is so so.... the 205 NM dont make itself felt...
frankly if u ask me.... i feel the acceleration of a FD2 can match this car
the interior wise, feels solidly put together but the overall packaging could be better <-- bashers will take this as a poorly build interior as they will not understand what is overall packaging.. poor them
(as much as i think the interior can be better, this is a right step as compared to the interior of previous proton's)
as a typical proton, its the driving dynamics of this car even with traction control off (in the wet), (sorry to those on LDP earlier for terrorizing u guys), that really shines... brakes are solid, steering feel is excellent, lane change stability is there, the chassis is well composed no matter how i try to shake it off balance (hand brake corner in taman megah)..
very big thanks to the folks in taman sea showroom for giving me this extended test drive with my friend...
and we are sorry for burning the brakes... the brakes faded when we returned the car... (yes u can smell them, brake smell i meant)
cant wait to see what the R3 boys can do to its already well sorted chassis...
P/S:
no, i am not paid.... and if u would ask me, i would think they can do better with the interior and oh yeah, bigger brakes please. preve brakes is smaller then those on the exora bold
Dude, that's a pretty good feedback on the car handling. I mean...handbrake corner?

At least we know the car can really deliver when it comes to the safety eh?

QUOTE(valence @ Apr 17 2012, 10:36 AM)
Test drive d, the pedal a bit hard to press it rev beyond 2k, is it normal?
And, the fit and finishing a bit reckless, there gaps at rear door handle.
valence-kor! You test drive dy. Demmit. I got no time to go today. Was hoping to slip out from the office in the evening...No chance. Haih. I think I'll go with the black. You going for the white?
Btw, our SA confirm the freebies liao? Oh and do you know what time they close? I have potential to poison 3 people

QUOTE(Area51SE @ Apr 17 2012, 11:46 AM)
Yeap, When SE comes or Bodykits from proton available. My SA promised to give it for free

affin bank offer 2.75% for 10%dp 9 years
Wah. That's pretty damn good. Hmm...A bit of a noobish question - will all affin bank offer this rate, or different banks will offer different rates?
QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Apr 17 2012, 05:12 PM)
When I was in Honda showroom, I don't see people knocking the car.
When in Proton showroom, people knock the car.
Erm. Whichever showroom or car display I go to, I'll be knocking the car. Lol. I remember checking out the Insight before. Do NOT like the interior. Damn plasticky. Now
that felt cheap.
QUOTE(ProX @ Apr 17 2012, 05:49 PM)
tested to sit in this car and I am quite impressed with what proton offered this time. Overall, I like this car but only 2 things that they could do better.
1) Rear passenger headroom clearance is pretty low. Not so suitable for tall people and I can imagine knocking your head on the roof
2) Buttons next to the HU could be improved with better press feedback. It is quite hard to press and not so responsive. It also feel like the button is easily spoilt. Possibly this unit has been badly abuse by other tester.
To summarize it, please go to the showroom to test and feel it. It looks much better than the picture or video. Initially I thought the quality would be plasticky or cheap but it is not.
Not sure if i could wait for "sapphire" version to come out.
Just thought I'd add a bit on the bolded part. I'm 6 foot 1. Sat at the back seat...and didn't find any problem with head room. And this is with me sitting bolt straight.
QUOTE(dares @ Apr 17 2012, 06:55 PM)
Just test drove earlier (If anyone saw a red Preve zipping through the Connaught highway at highspeed around 4-5pm, that's probably me)
I think izputra has covered most of what I thought, I just like to add my piece re the engine performance.
Compared to my FLX SE, the 1k-2k RPM (before the turbo kicks in) is really sluggish, as if the 1.6 NA is struggling to move the car. The CVT is probably to blame, but nonetheless it's there.
As said before, after 2k the turbo kicks in and that's where the car really starts to move. In D gear, the transition is smooth, almost unnoticable, BUT once you hit 2K and decides to release the pedal, the car jerks pretty hard due to engine braking, this could affect driving comfort in stop and go traffic. Also, the CVT seems reluctant to go to higher RPM, I would press the pedal hard and somehow the car decides to stay at 2k RPM, I was like WTFISTHISSHIT.
The real fun is when you use the paddle shifters. In this mode the cars feel utterly alive and so much more responsive than in D. Whereas in D the RPM rises very slow, with the paddle shifters you can simply downshift and off it goes. This part was by far the most satisfying part of the test drive.
I pity those who bought the IAFM+ variant, because they too will encounter the same sluggish response from 1k-2k RPM, except the 205Nm of torque will never come, ever. So if you are going for the IAFM+, please do yourself a favour and get the manual instead.
Also, unbelievably, the dashboard rattled halfway through my test drive
Reading so many consistent reviews about the low range rev gives me quite the chills. Must test drive it soon

So poisoned liao?

QUOTE(mat79 @ Apr 17 2012, 07:48 PM)
ah, forget also, since many people scrutinised n test the car to the max, many didnt notice the glass area all around is pilkington toughened n st gobain sekurit. If u find anything unpleasing or anything, just mentioned it out. Who knows, maybe some protonians read this n can improve its. By the way, the glove box closing mechanism using side latch, rather than what they normally used. Are they scared the latch will break during abuse period? He...he...
Wah. Pilkington? Really? Damn. That's good stuff there.
On a different note, one of my friends quite interested with this car...but she just bought a myvi se. It's only been about three months since she bought the car. Would it be possible for her to trade in the car you think?
