That is for the purpose of using your 3G/wireless to be able to lock your position without need to have GPS on
*
Does that mean I don't have to turn on my GPS whenever I use google maps on Midnote 3.0 from now on? Or is that a one time in order to successfully install Midnote 3.0?

What's the difference between tabletUI mode and phoneUI mode? More importantly, which is better? smile.gif Based on the pics, ICS stunner definitely looks more erm... impressive than Midnote...

Hm... tried with Maxis simcard in my Note, and Stunner can detect + connect, however with my Celcom Broadband simcard it will say connect but "no internet connection."

Can't live without data plan access so I think I will just reflash GB ROM. Fastest way from ICS -> GB is to use PC ODIN and flash KK*series stock firmware, is that right?
*
You don't need to go that far back to KK* firmware, just to reflash to GB Rom... I think Benny and JJamain posted the link before... Here is the link again... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552435

Weird then.. my Celcom Broadband simcard really won't connect. Headache de...
Ah.. I plan to clean install the KK firmware, reroot then move to latest Cassies LiteROM actually.
*
I have been flashing the LC1 (I like LC1 because it comes with a pit file but you can try the LC2 if you like from the link) before I move to other ICS Roms... They come with root... All you have to do is to flash the CWM over it and you are good to go...

broadband and normal phone sim settings are different.
Can your original Celcom Broadband sim card make calls?
*
That was going to be my next question... Can you use a broadband sim on the note? And if so, what settings do I have to make, since you clearly mentioned about broadband and normal phone sims having different settings...

If your ICS is on the LP5 kernal you cannot go straight back to GB. *If i am not mistaken* uncle benny got tell this to me before.. The last time i did i flashed the Abyss kernal before using PC odin to go back to Gingerbread smile.gif
*
Eh... Really? Hmmm... I was on Midnote 3.1 (It's using LP5 kernel right?)... I just used PC odin (without flashing the Abyss kernel first) to flash the rooted deodexed LC1 to get back to GB...

Wah. so nothing happened? Well i was just being on the safe side, i followed what uncle benny said..
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry50280864

coz we got discuss about this before..  hmm.gif
*
On an ICS Rom (Midnote, mostly in my case), the abyss kernel is needed if you are doing things on CWM recovery (ie. nandroid backup, restore etc.). But if you use PC Odin, that no longer applies... Well, it has worked out for me so far...

Benny, have you ever tried changing the LCD density? I have come across ppl on xda forum who spoke about its advantages, ie. more "real estate" etc... Is it worth the trouble changing it?

Yes only minor up to 310. Depend on your taste. I am happy between 310-320
You can use rom toolbox under performance to change. Easier than edit entry ro.sf. LCD_density in build prop file
Some cook from allow you to change easily just selecting through its settings

I'll probably try the tabletUI mode (213) first when I install ICS stunner 4.4, and then decide what to do next... Thanks again... smile.gif

What does it meant by "Let ROM settle"? rclxub.gif
*
Usually after flashing a rom, it is advisable to wait for a short period of time (in other words, give the phone a break and stop molesting it every single chance you have) for the caches to build etc... tongue.gif

Anyone using google maps 6.5 version? Any different compare to 6.0 version?
*
If I remember correctly, the newest version includes traffic report etc. (kl/klang area only at the moment, I think)... Most of our local media (blogs included) have covered the news... Search google if you want to know more...

Icks... Benny has a better summary on the new updates... tongue.gif

Benny, it is written that we should wipe data before we install ICS stunner... Does that include cache and dalvik too?

I was on ICS Stunner 4.4 for almost a day and I must say it was just like what Benny said... Very smooth... I don't think I'm going to stay on it though... I feel like I'm missing something without the SMemo etc... hmm.gif

yeah I think so ... smile.gif

thats why i still consider flash to stunner because i use g note alot ....hopefully then can implement s memo on it ~
*
They have the freenote but I don't quite like it... They are not going to implement the SMemo on it because it's suppose to be an AOKP rom which means No Samsung Apps or TouchWiz...

Yeah... I'll probably go back to Midnote since there is no better ICS alternative at the moment... smile.gif

OK, i'm ready to flash stunner 4.5 version.

currently i'm on substancer LA6 with abyss 4.2

for clean installation:

Install Mobile ODIN (Pro version preferred) apk and flash ICS-Repack.
Keep EverRoot and Wipe Data checked. Start Flash.
After everything goes ok, you get ICS leak repack. Let ROM settle.
Shutdown.
Hold Volume up key and long press power key. Open Recovery Mode.
Wipe Data.
Flash downloaded ICS Stunner ROM.
However, the first post says:

NEW STEPS BETA 4.3 ONWARDS:
Backup data apps.
Download and copy latest Stunner ROM on your SD Card.
Make sure you are on Rooted ROM. Reboot in recovery.
ONLY IF YOU ARE ON GINGERBREAD: Flash Abyss Kernel. Goto Advanced and Reboot Recovery.
Wipe Data (Recommended but not mandatory if you on Stunner ROM already)
Flash ROM.
Flash suitable Modem (Optional, recommended ICS LP5 modem)(not included in ROM)
Reboot and Read Caution.
Do not restore system apps or system data.
How come second part does not say need to flash ICS repack?
*
Yesterday, I tried the second option which was to flash Beta 4.4 without flashing the original ICS repack first... Everything looked and worked great except that I found I lost root when I tried to access mobile odin... I don't know if it was my mistake but you may want to check on your root if you go with the 2nd option... Hope this helps. smile.gif I'm going to try Midnote 3.2 now...

wow, i just want to install setCPU on my RocketV22
thanks for the heads up  sweat.gif
*
At the moment, installing setcpu on ICS roms isn't recommended (ICS Stunner comes with a built in setcpu, I think)... However, setcpu will work on Rocket V22 or other GB roms (the ability to overclock/undervolt depends on the kernel you have installed)...

Erm... Why is 1664 better? I used to go all the way up to 1704 when I was still on GB rom... smile.gif I can't say I felt the performance boost though...

Midnote doesnt have this option if i am not mistaken.. I dont recall seeing this option the last time i had midnote. And it definitely doesnt have something like Jkay's mod or Euphoria  sweat.gif
*
I activated the option when I was on ICS Stunner... I don't know about you guys, but I just felt it made the screen look "busy" and small...
