I have a problem. I have bought a Dell Inspiron 15R on Monday (2/04/2012) from one of seller here.
He has sell quite a transaction in lowyat forum and I think I can believe him.
At this moment, I'm still blur on what to do, So, I hope for suggestion on settling the problem.

I have in contact with the seller since last week to finalize the sale.
On Friday (30/03/2012), we agree with the laptop spec, price and warranty.
He ask for deposit and I deposit it to his company account.
He said the laptop will arrive on Monday, and COD to pay balance.

Today (05/04/2012), I found that the webcam is not working.
I tried to find solution through web, but none working.
So, I resort to call Dell Support.
Problem start here.

1. Warranty is not under my name.
2. Dell warranty already begun 01 March 2012.
3. His shop is not the actual place where it is being purchased. (according to Dell)

Since it is not under my name, I couldn't proceed for tech support.

According to his offer:

Implication
1. Laptop is not new unit as claimed.
2. Warranty is not under me, meaning I'm second owner.
3. Can be said second hand unit.
4. I cannot use dell warranty/support as I'm not the legit owner.
5. Most important is he never said anything about this.

I have an official receipt, states the company, the unit spec, service tag, company chop, amount.
I just sms him on this, and I dont wanna to do/say to complicated things.

Please recommend/suggest/ give idea on how I should settle this problem. Thanks

Any photo of the computer for your claim..?

As per my understanding if you purchase from shop.... u should be the 2nd Owner.
Computer is Purchase under Retailers name before if got sell to you.
Unless you purchase directly from Dell, Then it will be register under your name.
you may try and register thsi computer at www.onlineregister.com/dell
I have this experience before...

If you want to buy dell system in future... makesure you purchase directly from Dell....

Photo ? you mean before I buy ?
- I dont request as basically he claim it is a new unit, so should be the same as in Dell website.

Photo ? after I buy ?
- Laptop is here, It is in new condition with plastic warping. Screw on bottom (RAM compartment) shows it has been opened.

Basically I'm okay with the laptop, but my concern is on the warranty/ ownership. I feel cheated. I feel like I'm the second owner.

Yup, buy from retailer. not me to dell direct.
So, meaning its registered under the company.
Oh I see, thanks for the info. XL2K.
Then, I will communicate with the seller on this ownership change.
I have no experience buying Dell before.
