Hi guys, I encountered one problem on my machine either running on HyDrOG3N-ICS 08.04 or CM9 latest builds. The problem was when I intended to read/send/reply my texts;its gives an error 'unfortunately messaging has stopped'. Btw, i restored all my apps and system data with titanium backup. Any advise would be greatly appreciated notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

Well there is your problem, you restored system apps. Don't do that unless you are sure what app they are and would not overwrite the rom original system apps.

I had reflashed the rom without restored anything and tested to send a text to my friend....boom its now working flawless. The question now is whether can I restore the system data only ?

System data might be different if your backup are Samsung rom system data and you're migrating to AOSP type.

Actually I've gotten FC while restoring across different custom roms (both Samsung ROMs) as well. So for system data, better to restore on a selective basis (manually choose it, like wifi logins and perhaps SMS. The green ones in general should be fine, don't restore red ones)

Yes i knew those with red label cannot be restored. I just tested to restored the system with data restoration only and guess what; the problem I mentioned earlier appeared again. Actually I only wanted to restored my message only. That's all rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

If only that don't restore system data. Just restore missing apps and data like mentioned, then manually look for your SMS/MMS backup under the "backups" tab, and restore only the data from that. Then see if issues persist

That is not how you restore messages. To restore message its one of the green ones. I think apn,sms etc. something like that.

First of all, I would like to say thank to you guys replied to my problem. I had tried the suggested method but the issue still cannot be remove which I don't know why. hmm.gif By the way, this was my first ASOP rom. Before this , I had tried to different rom without the occurrence of this error. Maybe I shouldn't restored my text to this ASOP rom.

Lol stress much

No solution yet? sad.gif

Yes . I give up already. The only one solution is do not restore your SMS data then its should be fine.

Yeah shouldn't have done that, think something screwed it up.

After that I've wipe data and what nots still can't. Hmm maybe I need to wipe something else somewhere? sweat.gif

After you got those FC, you reflash the whole hydrogenics rom? Or how did you fix it after that?

Anyway I found this which I'm using now unsure.gif

Further edit:

Ok scratch the app above, only wiped SMS preference, forgot to wipe storage. Done that, pushed, changed permissions, finally working sweat.gif

I just wipe the data for my stock SMS app by using Titanium backup then reboot. After all my stock SMS were empty.
I just left it empty because I was planning go back to stock rom. How you managed to get it back to normal? Are you replaced the stock sms app with the app you mentioned above?
