Update ICS directly yes if it is supported. Like region thingy. If not, just use ICS custom ROMs and update

QUOTE(suadrif @ Apr 15 2012, 01:01 AM) Guys, 1. Hard reset - not enoughi recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S2, G version and rooted with a custom kernel. Now my screen is sometimes flickering, and i want to send it to warranty. How can i unroot my phone and restore back to factory setting? 1. Is it enough by performing hard reset? 2. If i am using SuperOneClick to unroot, is there any file that i should download? 3. If i update my phone to latest update, is it will be the same as unroot? which method should i use? or should i follow these step: http://www.teamandroid.com/2012/04/03/inst...laxy-s2-i9100g/ i am not sure if link above is sufficient enough or not 2. Not sure have not use SOC before 3. Once it is rooted, you can't update it automatically anymore What you can do is wipe the whole phone, install the correct firmware and use JIG to clear counter This should work |

QUOTE(suadrif @ Apr 15 2012, 10:19 AM) The link when I click shows how to install not how to unroot? Wipe entire phone? Setting there got option to complete wipe. This will wipe all setting only but not the rom itself. Enter CWM mode (phone off first, power + volume up + home button) and a menu will pop up after 5 sec or so. That for rooted phone only... That's what we call a clean wipe (when you wipe using CWM). Just to like clear those unwanted files etc before installing new stuff. |

QUOTE(suadrif @ Apr 15 2012, 01:04 PM) Thanks for your explanation but i am still confuse. Haha no problem.Lol... Haha.. So erase all setting is not same as clean wipe? And if i done it, the root will still be there? 1. Consider this. Wipe from phone setting and wipe using CWM doesn't give you back stock rom. 2. If you wipe either way, root will be there. The best way could be flashing in stock rom and use JIG to clear counter (if you see the yellow sign upon startup). |

QUOTE(Dark_Angel85 @ Apr 18 2012, 02:36 PM) Hmmmm... really? I'm not sure about that... but it's always better to flash a newer rom for the bug fixes and stuff that new roms normally have eh? Newer rom doesn't guarantee good quality. Depends on developers seriously...Like checkrom is good but really takes forever to release. Some dev release, we becOme white rat, and they give updates from the errors or problem we complaint. So newer is not always better I'm in no hurry to jump ship. No time to mess around the phone... GB is uber stable anyway... maybe ics seemed smoother in transitions... |

QUOTE(ekestima @ Apr 18 2012, 09:51 PM) Hi all, Hmm very weird. What you can do is to try plug in your phone to laptop and try see of you can find any files. Long short but worth trying Need help here, my S2 9100G juz gave me headache yesterday. After taken some photos of my colleague, was trying to put on facebook, so i tried to crop before posting. Halfway saving phone freeze. After waited for more than 5 mins, I reboot the phone. I was so disappointed to find all my photos saved in my S2 was gone. Totally gone My major mistake was I did not backup my photos. Can anyone help ? Can I use Data Recovery program like Easeus to recover my photos via usb linkage to my S2 (treating S2 as USB device) ? Should have gotten a 16GB memcard. Thx. Good luck! |
