Please advice. Urgently need an advice on how to solve this problem

My apartment was recently done major renovation, and today i found out that got leaking pipe at kitchen area. I found water on my floor and after trace out it happens the source from the pipe in the wall. To make matter worse the wall is behind my kitchen cabinet. In order to access the wall kitchen cabinet must come out first.

I called indon that did the renovation since the piping was done by him too but he said he will came only when he have free time. The kitchen cabinet installer and the indon is a friend. I still have rm1000 balance to be pay to kitchen cabinet installer. I ask plumber and he ask rm400 to rectify the problem, all in.

Who should take the responsibility for this? that indon? That kitchen cabinet installer? Or me have to fork out rm400 to repair?

The kitchen cabinet installer still have not complete his job. He need to plaster back two hole cause by drilling during installation of kitchen cabinet, put sealer at wall partition (as part of kitchen cabinet), to put base cover for kitchen cabinet and that is why i still hold rm1000

The indon meanwhile i already finish pay him since he already finish his job before. But now this problem occur.

I really hope fast response on what to do next. Please help. Thanks

If the problem come from piping then the guy that did the piping should fix the thing.

The kitchen cabinet guy should be blameless in this case even though he is a friend. You can not blame by association.

This is what play in my mind, giving that their poor workmanship, their reckless behaviour during installation which cause scratch (deep) on my hood and brand new refrigerator. But that is another story.

sorry to hear that. Just to share, during my KC installation, before they start to install, i hv made briefing where the pipe line goes, where is wiring line goes, so that they wont drill that area. Then i also gave them card box, to cover my new refrig and cover my new tiles.

just to share.

You should carry out pressure test on the water piping before you accept the work. In this case the rectification work. Else, you will not have anyone to be held responsible after this.
As someone mentioned earlier, there could be possibility that the cabinet guy could have accidentally drilled into the water piping....

Yes, it turns out that cabinet guy drilled to the pipe causing the leakage. so should he bear the cost?

Apperently he dont want to bear the cost. What is the best solution?

Thanks for all the feedback honestly i dont know much about renovation process. this is my first time. That indon should have completely remove the pipe since i told him to relocate the pipe.

I am thinking about to ask three party to bear the cost. That is me, that kitchen cabinet guy and that indon

Fix the problem first, who pay is the later decision. Who pay also need to get it fix first.

Agree. Thanks for your opinion. I ask the indon to proceed with repair first.
