QUOTE(geforce88 @ Aug 26 2013, 12:46 PM) good morning all Bro and Sis hi, with ur budget, what u can do is to add a sub, a set of component speakers, a 4 ch amp. as for head unit i would suggest to get something better with at least 2 RCA pre out. which all will usually sets u back around 1.5k.need advice and some recommendations here for car audio. My ride: Gen2 Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: no special preference, just need to add a slight bass to my listening, and pump all bass to sub without the need to torture stock factory speakers, thats all. File format/medium used for my source: only mp3 files Music genre: from trance to pop rock, from new age to k-pop, from Celine Dion to 50 Cent, from Malaysia to China, anything goes rojak Budget: 1k ??? (plus-minus a little bit is OK) Setup type preferences: waiting answers/comments/suggestions/critics from you guys here Other requirements (if any): would like to remain current stock factory speakers so far i have came across these 3 things: 1) PIONEER GM-3500T amp reason: because only need to power up a woofer (please kindly advise if my perception is wrong). 2) PIONEER TS-W310D4 subwoofer reason: simply because it is the cheapest among all Pioneer subs? 3) PIONEER MVH-155UI headunit reason: dont need CD function or bling bling cool double din. please advise if those 3 above are OK or not OK. as for pre-amp, where to do installation, can please also recommend (i am from Penang by the way, mainland side) million thanks to everyone for sub, i would choose a single voice coil 4 ohm if u plan to run it from ur 4ch. try matching the rms power of both the amp and sub. proton cars usually gives u crappy speakers, so u wont enjoy if u juz installed the sub, it will sound imbalance. i cant recommend which model is the best as i personally thinks those stuffs around ur budget doesnt sound much diff ( i mean reputed brands like kenwood, pioneer, JVC, JBL, sony ) beware of imitation products though, so get stuffs from reputable shop to save the hassle. hope this help. |

QUOTE(razven.94 @ Oct 5 2013, 08:59 PM) hello all, sad but rm 400 ain't gonna get u anywhere near gud sq. if u need gud connectivity then search around for pioneer or alpine, there are some basic model with usb support.I'm getting a secondhand proton iswara so not going all out on this. But I still want to change the radio player and maybe the speakers. Budget limit around rm400 so i dont mind second hand items as long as it works fine. I cant diy so prefer some mechanical support too Genre would range from metal to classical and jazz. Prefer more clarity than bass (SQ) and etc cos I want to hear the instruments. Also, I hope to use my phone music library so usb or android support would be great. flac and mp3 included. New to thread and all audio stuff. Pls tunjuk ajar !! Tq |

QUOTE(Glen Quagmire @ Nov 28 2013, 07:13 PM) Hi guys, below 1k i won't suggest u to change ur system. i have a mazda6, getting the bracket to fit the new HU oso costs few hundred. I have a pre-facelift mazda 3. I plan on upgrading my sound system, as frankly, it sounds quite bad to me. I've seen alot of people recommending to change the HU first, followed by the speakers. Any recommendations? Budget below 1k if possible. Also, are there places that I can trade in my old HU? Thanks from what i see, u r not that big on ICE, better to find something to plug and play like JBL MS-8, which greatly improves ur audio quality without changing any parts. I heard it on a Kia Forte using stock system and i must said it's a brilliant piece of hassle free device. |

it depends on the amp if the amp cross to ur desired freq. if u dun have a gud hu, i suggest u stay passive.
improvement is mainly ur staging and tuning flexibility |

Above average price but not overpriced. If including installation about that la. If can. Soundproof both of ur front door.

not sure bout the kenwood but focal access i think around 700. soundproof will get better sound, ranging 250-500 for 2 doors depending on material used.

QUOTE(adam ultimo @ Mar 1 2014, 03:48 AM) forcing a 3 way is not a bright idea actually.it involves a lot of tuning, if ur hu can't support a 3way + sub system active, then better stay 2 way. dun forget installation can be costly too. |

QUOTE(koolbrader @ Mar 22 2014, 08:13 PM) - My ride: Proton Waja 1k I can tell u honestly u can't get too far with it. Especially when you wanna get those headphones quality sound. If you must. Then I suggest you to get a head unit and front component set first. Then do soundproofing on both front doors. Save up more first. The setup above will cost around 1.5 to 2k.- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQ - File format/medium used for my source: MP3 from USB & Aux Smartphone - Music genre: Universal, mostly R&B, Club, Alternative Rock - Budget: +- RM1k - Setup type preferences: Not sure, super noob here. - Other requirements (if any): I just want better sound than stock proton because I'm so used to all my high quality headphones. Hi everyone, I just got a 2nd hand car and I hate the sound and the HU is just radio and CD player so I want to change the HU. Since I wanna change the HU, I thought might as well change the whole sound system. Problem is I'm on a budget but if it doesn't stray too far from my budget, I don't mind saving up a little more cash. Hope you guys can help me out! Thanks!! QUOTE(DeathShadow @ Mar 24 2014, 10:03 PM) - Perodua Myvi 1.5 SE Look for focal access. Boston acoustics s60. Polk audio. They might be a little more than your budget though. But they r better than those cap ayam speaker. - SQL - MP3 / iPod (bluetooth) - Nu metal (Linkin Park), Rap, Pop, Electronic - Maintain steering controls, want to change just the front speakers - RM 500 maximum QUOTE(k3lvinNdad @ Mar 27 2014, 08:54 PM) Many sellers in automotive garage. Spend some time searching and u shall find something that suits you. U plan to play active? |

If u plan for active. The above mentioned hu won't do the job. U need a hu with time alignment and full xover. Like pioneer p80rs or alpine 9887
