Hi guys. I need a recommendation on this subwoofer. I purchased a subwoofer which is a soundstream rubicon R-10SQ, I also purchased a monoblock (cap ayam DB Audio) for the time being. The question is, should i get a good mono or a good 2 channel amp? As im still planning to play with 1 woofer instead of two. Here's the woofer specs.

Model :R-10SQ
Description :10" Sound Q
Freq. Response :28Hz - 2.5kHz
Magnet Size :100 oz.
Voice Coil :2.5"
SPL :86 dB
X-max :14mm
Power RMS :400 watts

Any recommendations? I mostly play rock music.

Technically, This is what i just did. By keeping the current monoblock, i installed another woofer in the front footwell of the passenger side. Here i give some pics. The inspiration came from those porche ice forums. brows.gif Did a custom box, front used wood while the other surroundings was fibre and as thick as possible and inside the enclosure itself i glued cotton wool to dampen the sound.

This is my rear woofer. 1st purhcase. a few weeks back.

My ride: Perodua Myvi 2013 version, 1.3
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: I prefer SQ with good bass, not explosive bass
- File format/medium used for my source: MP3
- Music genre: pop, jazz, blues, guitar vocal. Not a clubbing fan.
- Budget: rm1000 +-. Is it possible?
- Setup type preferences: If can, sure full la haha
- Other requirements (if any):
*
i may not know much of SQ, but here is my 2 cents.

A good 2 way components to fit your front. (If possible, a 3way component)
A Front woofer, 8' or 10' (like my photo above your post)
A good HU (depending on your taste, single din or double dinn, single din like those 80PRS but you're on a tight budget)
This should be a start...

For SQ, its focused to the driver and suits ur ears. You wont be using your rear speakers anymore thumbup.gif

- My ride: Gen2
- Prefers SQ/SPL/SQL: SQL
- File format/medium used for my source: thru USB, just changed my HU to a new touch screen double din recently.
- Music genre: House, pop, classic
- Budget: RM800 include installation and cables.
- Setup type preferences: basic entry level full audio system set with a rear bass inside trunk?
- Other requirements (if any): Been considering Caliber audio system set and or Trans audio system set. budget ICE that doesn't burn a hole in the pocket.

- Caliber CA-5520 2 Channel Mosfet Amplifier
- 1800 Watts
- 2 Channel Amplifier, enough to support this
woofer
- 4 Ohms

Caliber CS-95.2 6" Component Set Speaker
- 2x Tweeter
- 2x Crossover
- 2x 6.5" Mid Bass Speaker
- 300 Watts
- 4 Ohms
- 15 oz

Caliber CPW-52 12" Woofer
- High Power 650 watts

- Single 50MM Hi-Temp Voice Coil
- 40 OZ
--------------------------------------------------------------------
- TRANS TRA-454 Class AB,
Peak Output Power 400w,
4ohm RMS Bridged 100wx2 Got Bass Boost,
High Low Pass Filter

which is better if comparing the 2 brands above?

hope to have shi fu recommend me and basic entry level ICE.

thanks

bro. from my understandings of SQL, put a woofer in the front footwell or dashboard. you want everything to shoot at you infront (staging). the wattage u stated above are mainly PEAK. whats the RMS of the speakers. For SQL, i strongly suggest a 3 way front component. but since from your tight budget, you MAY achieve SQL. ditch the rear speakers or just keep it oem. a good amp by JBL GT series 4 channel should set you aroubd rm350, get a good GT6-65 JBL 2 way component and should cost below rm300. thats already rm650. as for woofer, i suggest a good 2 channel amp and a woofer that you can fit infront. thats just my opinion. And its something what i did on my waja. all full frontial. its like a stage on top of my dashboard. But mayb other sifu got other suggestions?

Hi Bro,

appreciate for your feedback, my family member definitely wont allow to have the front bass place under the desk area. they preferred to have the leg stretch out.

what is RMS? i have called both parties that offering the package for Caliber & Trans audio system set, from my understand they are providing 2 way from component and 4 channel amp. the amp will be powering individual channel and last 2 channel will be diver to power the bass at the rear.

yes at the moment ill probably left the oem rear speaker alone, perhaps in the future if i find the necessity then ill upgrade it as well.

my requirement are simply, i want to clear music when playing pop or classic, but bass effect when listening to house.

hope some bros here can contribute which among the two is suitable for my need (Caliber & Trans)

Best Regards

i had used caliber once and thats a very long time ago. im not sure on the latest ones in the market. RMS = root mean square, i also dont know how to describe this. easy saying, make sure it matches your amp. lets says your amp is at XXX RMS and Peak at YYY RMS, your speakers is at ZZZ RMS and peak is at AAA RMS, its over what your amp can produce. Mix and match. i also dont really know how to explain. Mayb some sifu here also can help clear things.

Need your opinion on this; I cant play CD no longer on my stock HU and I couldn't stand listening to FM (due to the current trend in music).

My Ride: Nissan Latio 1.6 Hatchback
Prefer SQ/SPL/SQL: I prefer sound quality, reference Harman Kardon Soundstick.
File Format: USB and CD, 16bit-24bit .flac, 320kbps .mp3, .alac.
Genre: Jazz, Rock and General (depends).
Setup Type: 2DIN HU only, either touchscreen or non touchscreen. But I would prefer non-touchscreen as I prefer to be involved in the driving experience, hence, buttons it is smile.gif
Other Requirements: Able to browse through Folders for USB; include a 24bit DAC; Non glossy outer appearance (I hate fingerprints); must display CLOCK; Bluetooth function.
Budget: RM500 to RM1000.

I have looked up the following models, do give your opinions on them; or perhaps you have better recommendations?
- Kenwood DPX-U5130
- Pioneer FH-X365UB
- Alpine W235EBT

And finally, what is your opinion on BROTHER'S car accessories shop? I've noticed that their 2Din HU are a lot cheaper than the ones online and on market. Are they fakes or reject products?
*
Those highlighted above will be impossible to achieve. FLAC players are very very expensive. Unless u play FLAC on iphone/ipod and use AUX-IN to your player then its possible. For SQ, i prefer something with atleast 7band eq adjustments. atleast i can set any part of frequency higher or lower. Try to look around for it. I think below RM1k, there might be some.
