I tell you what dude, since you're really newbie to this, why don't you just say how much you plan on spending and we'll tell you what you can and cannot buy.

Personally if you're a basshead, practically almost any speaker set you can find will suite your requirements except perhaps those 'immitation/cheap' brands.

I do agree with you. But at your regular rm300 sub range, I doubt you can tell any diff. I prefer 4 to 2 ohm myself. Never played with 8ohm b4, too high end. Maybe your 8ohm setup lacked the power to perform?
*
It was plenty of power to feed the sub. Just the way it sounds was too 'soft'. Wasn't punchy and too 'smooth' sounding for my liking. 1ohm/2ohm seems to be more punchy.

RM300 subs... LOL.. ok. All the same then.

I'm a little opposed to this theory. Perhaps 2ohm and 4ohm setup subs may not sound that different, but I've played around with 8ohm subs and 1ohm setups, very different la. I don't like 8ohm!

yeah that thread is a good reference material.

for full set ICE, want good bass, you're looking to at least 3-4k++

rear speakers no need touch, focus on front component set + HU + amp (4channel to drive both comp set and woofer) and of course a sub woofer, 12" ported sub.

under 2k, chicken brand no problem.

component set = speakers

a pair of tweeters and 6.5" mid/mid bass 2 way setup (3 way = tweeters + mid + mid bass)

HU = head unit, the player, be it cd or usb

You can try Mohawk thou.

Since you like bass only, so I won't go detail into the sound lar.

2K should be ok, I guess. Change from HU (since you only need USB) to speakers to amp tp sub.

Detail price, sorry no idea. You will need to survey yourself with the budget in mind.

This is not cap ayam. This is cap Mohawk! brows.gif

Not true la. 2k+ budget can get you a decent setup but you need a helluva lot of patience and scout at the right places. Get everything 2nd hand.

Friend of mine did his entire 3-way setup for RM2.5k budget. Everything he bought was either 2nd or 3rd hand.

- Northcreek tweeters
- Hybrid mids
- A/D/S/ midbass
- Cap itik ayam speaker cables
- Cap itik ayam RCA cables
- Alpine 9853
- PHD2200 and A/D/S/ amps
- Helix dark blue + sealed enclosure sub

All for 2.5k, ok what. Not cap ayam ler except for speakers wires and RCA. The installation was DIY though so that's some savings already.

If I were you, I'd buy some sound dampening material like Sikadamp, Dynamat Extreme, etc and DIY dampen the areas that are rattling. Meaning you'd have to get down and dirty but at least that'll give you something to do over the weekend (assuming you don't have a girlfriend).

Then invest in a high sensitivity component set like the Rainbow SLX speakers. They work bloody well with stock HU and if you were in KL I could let you hear it in my Myvi (stock HU).

Then finally when you have the time and money throw in a 4-channel amp to whack the front components and a sub at the same time (for $ saving la).

That's the cheapest you can go for decent SQ + bass. Don't rush ICE. If you do it'll cost more to keep upgrading upgrading and upgrading. Been there done that.

im talking from an everything brand new no fuss no scouting/patience point of view.

because honestly, time is also money to me, time wasted to scout, and deal with potential issues acquiring 2nd hand (eg: worn drivers, or problematic boards/amp/HU/caps etc) are time wasted and time = money. hell, if eventually you have to replace them sooner than their supposed lifespan (eg: buying brand new) that also directly mean losing money.

preference/perspective. if his budget mentioned that he is willing to go for 2nd hand/used items, obviously i would reply similarly the way you did laugh.gif

=edit=
you know what, let me update the first post template. so people on budget can specify as well if they willing to go for used items smile.gif

HU = Head Unit = your player.

In KL the Rainbow SLX is about RM800 give or take. My Myvi has the stock HU connected to the Rainbow SLX component set and that's it. I recently added an active subwoofer under the seat and that's all I plan to do to the car. My Myvi is pretty much stock inside and out.

DIY installation is quite simple once you understand how things are connected and how they work. Do you know how to strip the interior of your Kancil?
