Hi Jovenne,

I have some questions about upgrading from streamyx to unifi need to clarify.

Currently I'm using Streamyx 1MB packages RM110 but having problem with telephone cutoff when using it for 1/2 mins. According to telekom technician, they have change/check whatever outside & they suspect internal cabling. They ask me to redo the cabling & see will fix the problem(which I do not believe).

Since need to re-do cabling, might as well change to Unifi. The question is:-

1. Can I use back my telephone no. as in the new unifi no.?
2. According to Unifi CS, I only can have 1 telephone line if I live in apartment/condo unless landed(2 lines). Is it true?
3. Can I use Unifi phone line for Faxing as I using All-in-1 printing machine?
4. What are the charges for upgrading to Unifi.

Thanks

Hi Iceman,

1. Can I use back my telephone no. as in the new unifi no.?
No, UniFi will provides a new telephone number as it is using VOIP instead. It connects to BTU (UniFi equipment) instead of telephone port.

2. According to Unifi CS, I only can have 1 telephone line if I live in apartment/condo unless landed(2 lines). Is it true?
How many telephone port do you have in the apartment? If you have TWO, then u may have two lines in the house.
If you have only one, then you can only have one line. However, UniFi can have two telephone number by paying extra RM 25/month.
I have 2 port but currently using it as splitter.

3. Can I use Unifi phone line for Faxing as I using All-in-1 printing machine?
Yes, no problem with faxing. It works as normal phone.

4. What are the charges for upgrading to Unifi.
There's no charges for upgrading to UniFi as installation and activation fees are waived.
You will only need to pay 1 month advance payment in the next bill  tongue.gif

Thank you.
