Was among the first 10 to test drive the only unit available in Kuching. They had only the 1.6 High Spec. I went to the showroom with pretty high expectations due to the sheer amount of publicity and knowing that this car won so many awards in US and some other countries. Left the showroom bloody disappointed.
What really spoilt the driving experience was the lack of torque at low end rpm. Power only comes in at higher rpm. However, when I returned to the showroom only I noticed that it was in Eco mode. Now i wonder how different it would be if the ECO mode was disabled. However, as many forumers have concluded, the 1.6's acceleration is truly sluggish.
The Forte 1.6SX 6 speed provides a much livelier acceleration. With the price of the elantra 1.6HS equalling the Forte 2.0SX, I cannot see how I can recommend this car. The only aspect which the Elantra is better than the Kia is the Aesthetics (Outward appearance).

QUOTE(ar188 @ Mar 30 2012, 11:12 PM) on consolation, the cruze also feels like this, like small engine pulling heavy body.. sonata also.. maybe they tuned it for that euro feel.. slow n steady driving so sad.. been waiting so long for this car.. turns out to be so slow.... I thought I would be buying this car honestly... overpriced and sluggish... Can't think of any reason why I should pay 100k for this car..

QUOTE(WieBoy @ Mar 30 2012, 11:13 PM) Honestly, i test drive 1.6SX forte, hehe, kinda funny i think myvi and saga accelerate even better. Cuz i vroom vroom to 100km/h twice, the car like : not really wana move!! Sorry ya Fortian. Just my 2cent My colleague bought the 6 speed 1.6SX Forte. The acceleration was miles better than the 1.6 Elantra even with 5 adults on the car. Even the owner of a 2.0GT Lancer agreed to this. You drove the old 4-speed forte?

QUOTE(ar188 @ Mar 30 2012, 11:18 PM) what is next choice then? P321 ? the Forte 2.0SX ler.... nothing beats this car in terms of value... Is rumoured that P3-21A (a.k.a. Proton Preve??) launching delayed due to some issues with the CFE engine. Some Exora CFE owners have complained (you can find youtube videos on this) of strange noises from the engine. Proton did so much publicity for this car, and yet not able to deliver as to what they promise. I would not dare to touch this car until at least one year later. Just days after the Power of One event started, an Exora exploded 4 times in a small town in Sabah (Kota Maludu), killing its owner. Couldn't confirm if it was a CFE or not. I have seen several burnt Saga BLMs as well on the road. Now u tell me if u dare to buy and drive the CFE car?

Does anyone have the torque/power curve for the 1.6 Gamma engine on this car? It would definitely explain the sluggishness.. So far I only see the one for 1.8....
