Tested 1.6hs and 1.8 with 2 in front and 1 passenger. Not really full test drive but purely to test and feel on the acceleration.

1.6h.s acceleration seems sluggish from the beginning but picking up in later stage.. yup underpower. My myvi1.3A easily win from 0-100km but personally still feel better then forte 1.6sx.
1.8 is much more feeling like driving a C-segment car and slightly better and responsive like myvi feeling but really don't feel vroom power on it. Still can bear with it.

Interior wise, in common, hand break really feeling cheapo as mentioned by some earlier. Door close sound does not really feel sound solid when slam the door... i prefer more solid sound and feel high class with that sound haha.

1.6sx, interior as expected, basic one. Leather is okay. 1.8 Nappa leather really nice. the look and feel is 1 grade upper than 1.6hs.

SA offer extra rm500 on trade in car, rm500 on tint, full tank, smartag and tissot watch if book by this week. They can't promise any better deal as they don't even know their commission at the moment...

In short, don't really feel a deal breaker at the moment. If would like to purchase, i will recommend 1.8 or go for forte 2.0.

anyway, i will not make any purchase as 1.8 is still slightly higher with current spec to me. 1.6 underpower

LOL! Are your it is only slightly better than Myvi???

Why not try working in car sales a month and rethink what you assumed? Or take on a car dealership and try to juggle around with a narrow dealer margin? smile.gif

My showroom has been understaffed since opening 4 years ago, because many comes and go thinking selling 2-3 cars per month can become overnight millionaire, once they realize it's not true, they run away after working 3 months. You think those free tinting, full tank, smart tags, higher trade in price magically manifest themselves out of thin air? BTW, there are cars that I only earn RM100 commission, for the sake of hitting company's target, I had 3 such 'target hitting' sale in March and for that three, I only earned RM600 selling a Sonata and 2 Tucson.

I live a simple life, unlike many Malaysians. My expenses planning of about RM1,000 per month still I have extra to spend on my gf. smile.gif

Some people are not willing to pay 100-200 more monthly for a car they like, but willing to pay 400-500 more monthly for a standard-spec Japanese car laugh.gif

aiyoh if you can accept the forte looks, long time also should have bought la no need to wait elantra.. for the price/spec comparison naza is way stronger.
*
After 1 year of buying the car, then u will see many in the road and Forte came with cooler design. Eventually u and ppl around you will get boring with the car also, why so emphasizing just merely on the "LOOK" ?

On average, Perodua showrooms has at least 10-20 SAs, assuming 40 Myvis per month, the average is 2 car per SA, and the SAs there aren't as kind as you think they are. I am not willing to play the Hunger Games.

I would love to see a comparison between Camry/Accord service schedule vs the Sonata to have this verified. Genuine parts, genuine service center.

Test drove both 1.6 & 1.8, and both 2 times.........hahaha biggrin.gif

One thing to add, I tested on a much further route, if you are familiar with the area, you know how to make that long U-turn looking @ Empire... icon_idea.gif tongue.gif

And, as some knew, i owned H, and Hyundai before....

1.8
with its published spec of ~ 2.0 Civic, I was expecting something in par on acceleration, and pulling.....but, I guess it is slightly better than 1.8 only........
when compare with Forte 2.0 (or even optima 2.0 which i nearly bought), the performance of kia definitely better.

The power of low rpm is good enough for smooth ramp, but if you are splinter, not for you, the power kicks in in higher rpm.
And, mind you, if you press paddle hard enough, the gear shift only appear @ 6500

handling, better than sonata!!! very very similar to civic 1.8, better than kia........

1.6 HS
was a surprise!!!, first, the moment i sit in the car, the feeling was so different, maybe is because of the leather..... might as well put in fabric.........
When I left the parking lot, and started to test, OMG, that is .............. really sluggish!!!! because of my expectation, I felt really dissapointed!!!
cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

couldnt believe it, i again, took the longer route, with SA icon_question.gif ....

Again, the power only kicks in in high RPM, but low RPM, forget it. For daily use, it should be good enough.
Comparing to forte2.0, forte2.0 wins!

OVERALL:

If you have a budget of 140k:
===>Kia Optima

If you have a budget of 110-120k, or 140k but wife dont approve K5 (because too big for her):
Forget about altis1.8, civic 1.8 etc, ====> Elantra 1.8 (pls dont compare with civic 2.0)

if you have a budget of <100k,
I find if difficult to recommend Elantra 1.6HS, ======> forte 2.0 (with higher spec, better performance, if you dont mind the space la....)

However, if you are upgrading from B-segment (ie city, vios), of expect it to be in par with forte 1.6 (c-segment)........ then you can start bashing SD!!!!!!!!!

P/S: I placed booking for 1.8, good enough for me, which clock around 70-80k mileage every year............

as i said earlier, if people think like you then no need to wait 1 year for the elantra lor. just buy the 2L forte already .. who (foreign brands of the same segment) can beat naza on pricing?

as for me yeah every 1-2years i buy new cars cos i get bored with them real fast, so JAPS with high resale value is a must.. biggrin.gif

You really have to try it first. So many people are driving Persona and even Exora which are a lot more underpower than Elantra/Forte 1.6 biggrin.gif

the feature should be standard worldwide... Try to use the Trip and reset button on steering wheel to toggle the Menu in cluster
