Motorist swims to shore after sea plunge

JOHOR BARU: A 31-year-old driver escaped with minor injuries after his car plunged into the Tebrau Straits some 50m from the Causeway here.

Mohd Amin Miran managed to swim out from his Perodua Myvi before it sank.

According to eyewitnesses, Mohd Amin was speeding and brushed against the side of a bus before losing control of his vehicle, which smashed through a barrier and fell into the sea.

Retiree Loh Ah Hiam, 76, said she heard screeching tyres and a loud bang before seeing the car go into the water.

“I was shocked to witness the accident but maybe it’s a bad omen as today is the Qing Ming festival (Chinese All Souls Day),” she said here yesterday.

Johor Baru Fire and Rescue Department fire station chief M. Vijayan said the department received a distress call about the incident at around 10.25am.

A fire engine with 16 men and seven divers from the department’s scuba unit were sent to the scene within 10 minutes.

“Two cranes were used to pull the car out from the sea as it had sunk several metres.

Not saying it is not effective, just that not as effective as I thought it should be.
The result of using Permanon to me is the same as using ONR to wash the car. Not much difference there.
Only thing that I found that it is better is when Permanon is applied on the windscreen. Much smoother in using my silicone wipers.
