Dota 2 > wc3 dota.

Because essentially it's the same damn thing, just with it's own graphics and system solely for this game concept.

But i still prefer HON which i feel is an improvement for the game concept, whereas Dota 2 is just keeping things as is.

Example, HON has alt char designs, a F2P concept. Nice voting system to conceed etc... a good system to avoid rage quiters compared to say LOL and Dota.

Wrong on all counts.

Conceding just encourages bad attitudes during games because players will give up early. Prime example is a game I played yesterday where my team was trailing at a loss of 10 kills. We won with a huge comeback. If you have conceding, people would've conceded at the 15 min mark.

This whole concept of giving up just encourages the already stupid attitudes that three quarters of south-east asians have. In Europe, players have good sportsmanship and they fight it out to the end (and steal victories too).

DotA2's penalty system is so much better than HoN's. Leave a game and you get chucked into low priority for the next 24 hours. Get reported enough and its good bye to your account (who will risk their main steam account?)

so your saying when the majority in the team after say 15 min mark has given up and want to conceed but can't (shouldn't) according to you ?

Why on earth not ? How is that considered stupid, knowing when your beat and want to move on to the next game group as the game has already been lost, maybe because of feeding or whatever.

if they've voted to conceed as a group why not let them? instead your selfishly forcing them to stay on, to complete a game that may have already been lost way too early. I totally don't agree with that :/

HON too has a system that flags you as a leaver if the % of leaving game during match reaches a certain point. Players who want to join a game, can then set it to avoid playing with people flagged as leavers.

There is also a system in place to try even group pairings so people of equal stats/points are paired against each other. it's not perfect but it's a good attempt to make a more even match.

you also mentioned i'm wrong on all points how so ? Hon does have alt char designs, and they do have a F2P system (you can optionally pay real money to get things faster, otherwise you can just play to earn points to buy chars which may take long but is possible and is free to do so...). So the one spreading false info is you since your statement regarding these 2 points was wrong doh.gif

I'm not too familiar with the hon reporting system, so not much to comment on that (but from i understand, you need to be verified to be able to use it)

The system itself is fine but it has the added effects of encouraging people to give up. Because this is not present in DotA2, people actually fight instead of give up. The problem lies with having the option to concede be available for use. Do you honestly want to enjoy one good game or play 20 games of 15 minute concedes as an organized (and winning) team? Ask yourself that.

I'm in favour of DotA2's means of tackling leavers (having had experience in HoN since its closed beta) as you can see from the current state of SEA HoN where players have no incentive to actually take care of their accounts.

DotA2 also has a hidden ELO/MMR/PSR as far as I know (it was mentioned in the v1 or v2 thread I believe) so its roughly equal to HoN. Their F2P system is also stupid as hell because it does nothing for the benefit of the game (lets be honest, grinding for coins to unlock heroes was terrible) and it encouraged S2 to release stupidly broken heroes like Emerald Warden so people would fork out moolah for it. The contrast here is HoN's microtransactions are purely aesthetic. Huge + in my book.

I've had a sufficient amount of experience at relatively med-high tier play in all 3 games (LoL, DotA2, HoN) and I can say that DotA2 is by far the least problematic when it comes to generic pubs. But then again, time will tell.

P.S: And unlike the other two games, Valve actually DOES stuff. Fat chance ga*rena actually does anything for you people.

actually even if i'm winning by a lot i rather allow them conceed and look for a more even match doh.gif but thats just my own opinion.
