i dont think they charge you less if you done some stuff for them..

umm, they pull cable from TM Pole, they drilled my room, and around 1.5m of Fiber Optics, to termination point. Then another Fiber Optics that included in the modem box..  Didn't even go up the ceiling, and the UNIFI supposed to be installed in my living room. Still, they charged full price.

During my time, all the price is fixed, and I cant agree or disagree what price they'll offer. And I'm sure no other contractor I can choose, only what TM sent to me.

I dont really care about my installation, because Fiber modem + router are in my room, air conditioned, + all PCs are in my room. Lol. So, in my case, im good enough with it.

So, need to confirm with others first, because my installation was ages ago.

My past experience with streamyx was awesome. "WAS"... really was... It isn't awesome now. Badly throttled and routed. Gaming ain't smooth. Ping like shit. Download (the proper one, game client etc) ain't going smooth too

I'm currently subscribed to UniFi5 using equipments supplied by TM. The problem I'm experiencing now is slow browsing speed (feels the same as my previous Steamyx 1Mb line) although SpeedTest tells me my connection is constantly achieving 4.5 to 4.8Mbps.

This morning wake up, found out that unifi is not working. Call them, lodge a case, technician came over and found out cable was chewed off by rat. Asked me why the contractor didn't cover the cable.

How would I know he didn't? I paid RM200 for the installation. So they called another contractor over, the contractor said, I need to call the initial contractor to fix it, if I wan them to fix it, I need to pay RM300.

So my question is, why is it become our problems? It's the contractor chosen by UNIFI and they didn't do their job properly at the first place now I need to call the contractor back. So what good is the UNIFI helpdesk?

Now the initial contractor can't be reach, and UNIFI helpdesk just ask me wait so they can investigate first and decide want to pay for me or not.

As for now, I'm without telephone and internet now. Any idea who I can contact to solve this? The helpdesk is just useless, call few times, gave few different answers. Only ask me to wait.

Concealed, UNIFI helpdesk said I sign off the resit means that I'm satisfied with the installation so I need to pay. How do we verified something that was concealed in ceiling? Should I climb up with the contractor as well when they install?

To make thing worst the initial contractor can't be reached now. 

UNIFI helpdesk ask me wait, they want to decide who should pay. While they decide, I am without phone or internet.

I'm not complaining, I'm just wondering because I've seen people with SS getting 1 MB/s dload speed with a VIP5. I'm glad that my speed is normal and correct. I neva thot of converting that 5Mbps into KBps. But now dat u showed me,thank you. It's clear enough for me now.

One more question, is it possible to increase this speed and how do those people with VIP5 get that XX MBps downlaod speed? Which thread can u refer me to please. I've tried looking around but it seems my searching skill is really bad. It boggles me dat we're all using d same ISP with d same package.

The reason I am thinking to use Homeplug is to connect those OLD computers that do not have wifi device. Also thinking to use homeplug to connect network cable directly to the laptop and computer so that they can have better direct speed compare with using wireless speed which maybe a bit blocked from the wall in other rooms.

Also, can Homeplug able to use when connect to extension powerpoint plug?

hmm ure problem is ure snr margin is bad.
Call them and ask whats the reading. Its suppose to be between -18 to -28 afaik.

also it looks like u have a loose cable somewhere or a broken glass in ure cable.

since fibre glass is inert and it doesnt emit any form of magnetism on static environment like a rainy day.
so its more on movement of the wire.

technically the only way in fibre glass wire to get affected by rain is
1. Broken Glass in ure cable
2. Loose cable
3. Exposed cable

i would check on this.

when u call tm ask them to check ure margins at different times.

if u no tweak anything the you get a bit less than what you subscribe to

i.e. VIP 5 get 4.XX speedtest, VIP 20 get 19.XX speed test or even less

then those people who change router and tweak to open-wrt and dd-wrt they can boost over the subscribed
