After 10 mins setup, manage to get RT-N66U up, running and connected to Unifi. Like all other Asus routers with latest firmware, it has Unifi preset biggrin.gif

Yup, LAN port 4 automatically allocated for IPTV.

Can set up to 8 SSID, however 1 SSID for each channel (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and 3 additional guess SSID on each channel.
*
Guess SSID can be managed ? For instance 1 SSID is protected with password and guess ssid is not protected but set a limit on bandwidth that will be allocated to the guess ssid. Possible ? hmm.gif

Not explore that deep yet, but from what I've seen can set time allocation when guess SSID is available to use.
*
That iss a nice feature too tongue.gif

QUOTE(jolmy @ Apr 8 2012, 02:59 PM)
It's still wise to protect the guest SSID with a WPA2-PSK passphrase with AES encryption. You'll never want any unwanted guests using your Internet connection via your WiFi, perhaps to commit crime...
*
Yes I am aware. Just seeing if the option is available. I always protect my customers wifi with a strong password brows.gif

QUOTE(Neptern @ Apr 8 2012, 03:53 PM)
The RT-N66U is a monster...A 5mbps connection just shames the hell out of such a 'beautiful' router cool2.gif

Time to upgrade to VIP20 from VIP5, take advantage of the speedme promo drool.gif

rattan, question.
I still receive the bill for streamyx and phone line for my old number for last month.
I stop using since early of the month, but i still get charge FULL? Not pro-rated?
Btw, how I can verify TM really terminated my line and how I can get my deposit back?

p/s: The billing name still wrong :S

PM me. Will sort it out for you.

QUOTE(tarm @ Apr 11 2012, 07:29 PM)
Need advice from Bro's here.

My unifi has been suspended on Monday, 9th April, so I made payment on that day, and call the hotline. The call center personnel assured me that the line will be restored by 24 hours.

Come Tuesday 10th April the line still not restored, and call center ppl say they already escalated it to second level ppl to look after.

Come today 11th April the line still disconnected, phone say still suspended, same answer by call center (already escalated to second level ppl) and I've been hold on hotline for 40 minutes but hangup in the end.

What should I do now, any other steps I should do or action taken?

PM me. I help you. Within 2 hours line will be reconnected. Just doing you a favor biggrin.gif

I can assure you that is not the router issue, the router is working fine as how it is suppose to be. Someone could be hogging your internet connection or just chances are at that point of time u doing the speedtest the connection was slow.

I been on TPLink 841 for more then 7 months now. I never switched off the router from the day it came out of the box. IPTV is connected to it, my seedbox, network bluray media player, NAS server. Sometimes all of it is running at 1 go, and not forgetting my smartphone/tab and also 2 PC's are connected to it.

Here is the speedtest results. Take note that 100+ torrents are seeding in the background.

does the iptv and the phone share the bandwith with the pc? or it's separated?

IPTV on different VLAN and it doesnt effect internet speed or contribute to your download/upload volume.

and will there be any difference between highrise installation and landed? like faster installation or?
*
highrise installation is faster then landed property.
Highrise they just tap the connection back to your existing telephone line from the MDF room and install the equipments in the particular unit. Equipments all mostly just plug in configure and ready to use.

For landed property must pull fiber to the BTU from the telephone pole, it takes even longer time if the cabling is underground. Underground cabling mostly for new neighborhoods.

Time it takes to complete installation depending on property/building type :-

Highrise office/condo : 1 hour

Landed office/house (pole) : 2 hours
Landed office/house (underground aka UG) : 4-6 hours

From thinking of moving to 4Mbps Streamyx, to now Unifi. I am thinking if I go Unifi, why not get VIP 10 - it will be a major speed boost from 1Mbps. RM199 is RM111 more than my current RM88 package, while VIP 5 is RM149 (RM61 more).

Cunning TM to set the price of VIP 5 so close to 4Mbps Streamyx. Sneaky.

The major pain is that there will be some work to be carried out and of course, the 2-year contract - - unhappy with the service etc. etc. either have to complaint until fixed. Can't run away.

What say you Unifi folks? Worth it or not... or will I regret and just stick with my meager laugh-out-loud 1Mbps package?

My usage - - gaming, online video streaming and of course downloads. Will be sharing the connection with, total 3 users.

Hi Rattan,
I end up have to go TM Point myself, which defeat the purpose why I need agent at first place.
Anyway, TM never contact me. I went there and check, both my streamyx and phone line still active.
I have to cancel it myself by filling all the forms. Also I highlighted about the billing name issue.

So, rattan, I still appreciate your help getting my unifi.
Perhaps you have many clients, I probably the unlucky one you didn't provide expected good service.
Or maybe is the problem with TM side being slow in responding
Anyway, I do hope you continue provide good service to other lowyat members here.

Bro I brought up the matter to TM. They were still investigating. However, it is good thing that you went to kedai TM and sort it out without delaying. This is definitely on TM's end error.
So far u are the few handful that TM system had error and didnt terminate the landline. However I have solve such matter by bringing this matter up to TM.
I apologize on behalf of TM.

Enjoy your unifi and thank you very much for your support.

Hi guys,
I have a question.
UNIFI at the place i am staying got cut off already. When i check the outstanding bills, its around 600 something (from february to april). The problem now is, the guy whose name is used to apply for it has moved to dunno where already..If i want to terminate, i would need his IC and pay termination fee 500 right? What will happen if i just leave it as it is?
Thanks a lot guys.
*
He will be blacklisted and TM will keep billing the monthly chargers.
