if wanna use TL-WR941ND, which method is better? KLseets open wrt or the one at stanley tiang's blog (reconfig the HG655a)? I now got 2 TP-Link. One is TD-W8960N & TL-W941ND

QUOTE(sub7 @ Jun 2 2012, 06:27 PM) Howdy, Hey man, looks like u have a problem. If i'm not mistaken, u can use 1043ND with Vlan switch & ur 5 fix IP with another switch. Go to this site, they do provide support for what they post Unifi Broadband NetworkingI'm posting this question after weeks of survey and googling, but not getting else where. A little bit introduction of my Unifi Biz20 setup, 5 fix IP (yeap, I ask for additional IP for RM300 extra/month!!!). As usual, Huawei HG850a and DIR-615 as original setup and I'm trying to get rid of DIR-615. With guidelines from klseet and athena, I tried the following setup but results were not satisfying. a) Bought Cisco router and wired directly to Huawei (without DIR615). Lots of packet retransmission, so I brought forward to Cisco TAC for fine tuning. End result, Cisco blame TM. That's fine.. switch it back to DIR-615. b) Bought TPLink WR1043ND at PC Expo, young chap told me it support Unifi and even the box label Unifi ready. Well, it's something new for me so I bought it. Too bad it doesn't work. Turn to klseet blog for custom firmware (with Unifi mode), cool it works but it doesn't support 5 fix IP (Dlink were using IP Unnumbered/bridging but couldn't find this option in TPlink). I'm yet to try DDWRT and OpenWRT. Anyone else have better suggestion? Replace DIR-615 with unique setup (Unifi + 5 fix IP). I only saw 1 or 2 post in forum relate to this setup (edwardstevens and vNistelrooy) but their post is not getting me anywhere. Cheers mate! Don't bother to flash to ddrt or openwrt or whatver rt's if u are not tech-savvy. The guide u are trying to follow is a personal experience & not proven officially working & secure. My advice is, don't simply take last year's unofficial technical review bcos in 2012 there's a major technology advancement. Routers back then, not the same version we buy today. Cisco support forum. QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Jun 3 2012, 12:12 AM) Hi, I plan to trunk vlan from my network location to my living room. The recommendation from klseet.com is to pair MikroTik RB750G with a Unifi compatible router. I still need to hook up an wireless AP to the RB750G. I plan to get MikroTik RB751G-2HnD wireless router and pair with TP-Link TL-SG2109WEB managed switch. The connection would be Huawei BTU <--> RB751G <--> SG2109WEB <--> IPTV & ACRyan POHD. Will this work or someone has done this before able to share experience? Thanks, How do u buy the discontinued SG2109WEB switch product? btw, i found something here n u might be interested.Unifi Trunking 2 Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ Jun 3 2012, 02:57 PM) It is still available from Lelong. I'm aware of the SL2210WEB but would like to maintain GB network throughout. SL2210WEB is 10/100M. I would probably go with MikroTik RB250GS instead as it is cheaper although not as fast as a switch but should be enough for media application. your choice |

QUOTE(Blue.Army @ Jun 4 2012, 02:44 PM) welcome to the club ya Added on June 4, 2012, 3:07 pm QUOTE(sub7 @ Jun 4 2012, 12:33 PM) Thanks mate, I will have a look in this. I don't think 1043ND can extend VLAN trunk to another VLAN switch (unless with OpenWRT, probably). The IP addressing on WAN interface (5 IP address) cannot extend to another VLAN/L3 switch unfortunately without bridging it. It's a simple logic, you can't have same subnet on 2 NIC and bridging is the only solution. I'm using dir-615 as my vlan switch on my workstation. In living room i use sl2210 & TL-WR941ND. It's a great combination (for me).Of course there's another solution, 1-1 NAT with 1043ND but I prefer not going to this path as it will break the network design. QUOTE(jolmy @ Jun 7 2012, 01:16 AM) I used to have a similar problem with high packet loss that affects the upload speed last year for months... apparently, its due to some issues with the fiber transmitter or something at my condo. I did encounter speed degradations 2-3 days back. After digging it up i find out my TrendMicro Titanium Internet Security Software is the cause. I uninstall & get new product & TADAAAA!! Solved |

QUOTE(skyliner66 @ Jun 14 2012, 12:11 AM) but proviously using the DIR615 i din set any google DNS but working fine, but once change to TP Link the problem exists...btw, may i know how u manage to use 2 router at the same time? try to turn off QSS. Upgrade tp-link firmware to the latest one on their website and disable all advance security and set wifi on wep. Try your luck but that's what i do.TP-Link sometimes drop packet severely. But if u flash it with ddrt or openwrt it work just fine.I also dunno why, it lacks that security segments plus all the ARP attack from china lol Added on June 13, 2012, 11:13 pm i do test several channel from 5 to 11...all cant work...i even set the auto channel, but same result...really dunno wht to do... |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jun 16 2012, 01:44 AM) I only got one mac address 0 0 0 0 0. After I checked, the pc is connected to DIR-615 which is connected after TP-Link 841ND. You got similar setup? Means WAN->841ND->DIR615. My dir615 is not hosting dhcp server. IP address all assigned by 841nd. Other comp shows mac correctly. Hah lol.. that's ur internal private ip with data pinged to server. check ur DHCP reservation back.ARP maybe. As i said earlier, TP-Link security is dubious. When use with ddrt or openwrt it's fine. The web GUI not good. |

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Jun 16 2012, 08:38 PM) so what do u think the problem is? my pc distance with the wifi is just like 2m + long only yeah well.. the famous ITT ( intent to tricked ). Basically TM needs a 2 month advance payment prior to 24months contract.Usually they will charge 1 + 1 in ur 1st bill. If u install somewhere in the mid-month, then they'll pro-rated ur bill accordingly. if ur package is 249/month, u shud be charged total 498/-.If u get online register, they give u 1(one month) free subscription but subject also to be prorated. RM508 sounds about right. Added on June 16, 2012, 8:27 pmAnd unifi VIP20 first month RM508? I remember when I install unifi it says pay RM249 (vip20's package price) + 10% (forgot what tax) + 6% (gov tax). But now i check my billing mail it says Rm508. How come so much? Added on June 16, 2012, 9:46 pmHola guys, Will TM allow for seedbox server settings? is it ok if i do that?...just checkin This post has been edited by Qamarzamsyawal: Jun 16 2012, 09:46 PM |

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Jun 17 2012, 12:58 AM) I got my unifi on 4th May and i received the bill on 4th June but i just opened my email today. Is it too late to pay now? or will they charge extra? If u look at the bill ' time period & due date', then u'll find the answer. If it's due & ur line dconnect then only they charge u for re-activation. ur bill is 498 + 10 stamp duty( also we got to pay)+ 6% gov tax( gain we also have to pay)=RM508. Everything got taxed bro..even go to change ur tyre got service charge |
