Congrats on your pregnancy. I do not know the answer to the first question but for the second, a detailed scan was done at the same time of the blood test to check the nose bone and spine at the neck.

My doctor checked that the nose bone of the fetus is straight and the measure,ent of the one at the neck. If these two criteria is met, then the down syndrome risk is down by 70%. Thus, no need to worry so much while waiting for the result of the blood test.

The machine he used was quite advanced. Can do 3d scan one.
