Added on April 11, 2012, 10:43 pmpps. Rear Drum Brakes sounds common knowledge now cos mechs@SC here up north oledi kno of prob.
However, no memos fr HQ yet of permanent cure. sad.gif

Mech also showed me 2 units of wat were supposed 2b fr taken out fr CVTs 2replace prob ones. White cylindrical plastic housing, longish with spring...CVT clutch/pump? Quite big units.

Added on April 11, 2012, 11:14 pmppps. ABS/EBD with NO warning lights of failure?
Thot wld b std in meter panels of such fitted cars. Savings on such necessities?
Then hving such features wld b like hving NONE!!
Cos driving car with FAILED ABS = Driving car w/o ABS!!
Kinda dangerous, rite? sad.gif

Bros...
Need help 2figure this one out...

Can a 2009 Saga BLM 1.3 Manual do this :

Car in hse porch.
Driver engaged Reverse gear.
Started reversing.
Saw somethin on floor.
Opened door 2try pick up item.
Car suddenly shot backwards!
Banged closed gate.
Driver in panic grabbed gate.
Fell out of car.
Car continued REVERSING across 20ft road ( NO Driver in car now!) while turning to right!
Stopped on opposite soft loose soil land...soft water-laden soil cos of heavy rain last nite.
Stopped in parallel position abt 5+ ft after road edge!!

Now the mystery is...
How did the BLM (Manual!!) move in reverse gear across the 20ft road WITHOUT a Driver!!

Being a MT car, it shld hv stopped when Driver fell out of car!

Over 2yu Bros....

ps. This is a TRUE incident. Happened juz this morning. Me = Witness. tongue.gif

1st, the car start to reverse slowly according to ur statement. Meaning tat the driver slowly release clutch to let the reverse gear engage.

2nd, the gear have engage & ur fren open door to pick up item from floor. Mayb cause him accidentally stepped on the gas pedal causing the car shot backward immediately.

3rd, after the driver felt off from the car while leaving the car engine ON. The GB gear already full engage without depends on the clutch, so it can run on it ownself without any driver control the gear.

Manual still can go on without driver if the gear is fully engage without engine cut off.

PS: Correct me if i m wrong.
*
Reverse Gear is very LOW(?) gear, rite? Wld that not hv killed the engine very fast? Esp when clutch & accelerator pedal is released?
Juz like wld hv happened in First gear?

All ppl present were surprised that the car moved so far...

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Apr 12 2012, 08:23 PM)
Definitely possible to let it run without accelerator/clutch on 1st gear, specially BLM 1st gear is extremely low. It happens when u release the clutch slowly until the engine RPM generate enuf torque to keep the car running under vacuum(covered this topic during last TT back in March). For BLM, most probably the engine will not stall on 1st/2nd gear running without accelerator.
*
Me rber ole VW & Colt cars (other cars of past years) wld stall if lift foot off accelerator...
Dat's why most ppl @dat incident or came 2ask cld NOT believe car cld reverse that far on its own... hmm.gif

Btw cld it be due2 BLM's DBW accelerator system?

Driver in panic pushed flat down accelerator pedal; ECU gets signal fr DBW module AND MPI responding, resulting in enuf fuel injected 2keep car moving & thus engine NOT stalled?

did u added door soundproof for ur car?

Nope.

Did so for ole ride.
Found results not significant & thus not worth $$$ & effort put in sticking those thick bitumen/aluminium coated sheets onto door interior panels. sad.gif

So dun wanna do 4FL now. tongue.gif

Hi Bros...
Juz 2say TQ very much & much appreciate all yr conments/views re "auto-pilot" incident of BLM on reverse gear. thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

Conclusion: Such "auto-pilot" antics by BLM & siblings are "non-humanly" possible!! rclxms.gif

Gnite, all!

ps. Raining heavily agin!! Hope no flash floods....

Added on April 12, 2012, 11:40 pmpps. Total cost of repair for "auto-pilot" BLM quoted by knock shop is RM1200!!
Incl complete change of whole Driver door "casing", knocking of dented parts & respray of metallic paintwork.
Time needed : 5-6 days.

Expensive test of BLM "auto-pilot" feature!! sad.gif

I wished you recorded it but it must have happened very fast tongue.gif

Reverse gear is very low. Even lower than first gear, I think. I can easily move forward in first gear or reverse just by releasing the clutch without touching the accelerator.
*
Yup, VERY fast!!
Within few secs! Couple on morning walk shocked 2see car cross road w/o driver!!
Husband in couple condemned Plotong QC!! doh.gif

All this while, thought only AT car can move in gear BUT MT car wld stall once let go accelerator pedal...esp in 1st/Rev gear...
Guess me very wrong liao!! sad.gif

We live We learn, rite?

QUOTE(ericmaxman @ Apr 14 2012, 11:09 PM)
Could be engine timing. But only if the engine was rough.

Me : Dun think it's engine timing cos engine ran smoothly after it finally started.

My advise, if it doesn't start on the first few cranks, be more careful, as each time u on and off the car, the fuel pump pumps petrol into the engine. You may flood the engine if you pump too often and the car doesn't start.

Me : A probable side effect? Cos me did try 2crank a few times one after another, even follow normal proc of switching off & wait 4airbag lamp 2go off.

Other than that, you may want to check the regulars, like engine oil, starter etc. I've also had similar problems, but very rarely. Still unable to pinpoint the exact cause, but it may be caused by a slightly weakened battery.

Me: So far those items no prob. Slightly weakened battery? Another probable cause. Car not used for past 2 days.

*
Tks a meg, Bro!! notworthy.gif
Will know for sure if no prob starting 2moro morning.
Me also suspect petrol @ last fill-up. Will go top up with different brand 2moro.
Was stumped cos no prob starting car all this time... sad.gif
