Hi.
First of all, thank you for reading my post.
I hope they are members here that can help me with my house renovation.
I am looking for a contractor or anyone that can renovate my stairs a bit.
My stair are made from wood and it has a hole in between each wood stair.
I just want to close that hole with wood and also around the stair area. Simple idea.
My stair looks just like this:

Looks like a simple Job but you need to search back the same kind of wood to make your compliment the layout and colors

Looks like a simple job...but i think a lot of work to be done...would probably cost you about RM2-3k (i think)..mine is about RM4k, that includes covering the bottom of the stairs to be converted into a store

as for the wood design and colour, they have a lot of colors to choose from....

good luck and happy hunting!!!

coconutzz and j.tan87, thanks for the reply.

I have spoken to one guy, he is a kitchen cabinet designer and he said he can do it. I have seen his work because he do it for my neighbor house. He placed a plywood in between the wood stairs to cover the hole. It's quite nice but i'm afraid it would not last longer if using plywood. He quote around rm800 just to cover the hole. Not sure how much if i want to cover the side of the stairs as well.

Still in hunting for best option....huhuhuhu...

Ask him about the specification of the plywood. Some good quality can last quite long.
If the stair is expose to water, avoid plywood by all means.

hi, my advice not to put plaster ceiling materials as u step on d staircase will put pressure on it n will cause d plaster materials to crack later on. best solution is to put wood based materials. MDF oso good enuf.

Lonerider .. may I know why you want to cover the hole in between the steps? I thought your stairs look lovely as they are now.
May I know how much you spent to get it done? And which shop please?

Remember, too cheap = too good to be true.
material cost is a main consideration.
Plywood vs Solid wood
