Good news to all fellow DotArians!

Due to an overwhelming request and appeals from our Malaysian DotA players and fans nationwide who wish to eagerly participate in the SMM 1 MALAYSIA DotA Championship 2012 with more flexible players rotation – we at SMM hears you out!

It brings us great pleasure to make this SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT that the management of SMM has decided to heartily open up new channels to allow a smoother and more flexible player-centric roster with your utmost team interest in mind – by allowing all Malaysian citizens to participate in this truly Malaysian tournament with a minimum set quota of only 1 (one) local state-based team leader and/or player with any other 4 (four) players of your choice.

We at SMM strongly believe that teamwork forms the very core essence of DotA – and thus, we hope that these new changes made will whimsically allow greater enjoyability and excitement from our tournaments for our cherished players and viewers.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused that the S1MDC 12' tournament coverage does not directly reach into Sarawak at this point of time. However, we fully welcome all Sarawakians who wishes to attend our East Coast Qualifier at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

if me and my friends are from the same university but from diff state are acceptable to join?

A minimum of 3 local state-based players must first be fulfilled in order to qualify your team. The remaining 2 members + 1 substitute have no regional restrictions. However, each game played at the tournament must require 3 local state-player in the in-game slot in order for the match to commence. This rule will be in effect until the end of the tournament.

Thanks for the input. We at SMM truly appreciate you and all fellow Sarawakians DotA commitment to our event and we will take a step back to look at this very seriously. However, the date and venue for the S1MDC 12' has already been confirmed so I might not be able to make any significant changes. We truly apologize for any inconvenience caused. I do hope that you guys can still attend the EAST Malaysia qualifiers and make Sarawak proud

East Coast having Perlis in there but not Kelantan?

What about Perlis?

If you are from Kelantan, you are allowed to join our East Coast Qualifiers.

You can join our East Coast Qualfiers as stated above

It's kind of weird though having Perlis in the East Coast rathen than in Penang/Kedah. Anyway, Yes I'm from Kelantan, but does that mean I can mix up my team with 1 Kelantan + 2 Terengganu + 2 other state players? Or I must have 3 Kelantanese too in my team?

I have discussed this with the DotA Head Marshall and we have decided to also allow local Perlis players to join the Kedah Qualifiers based on regional proximity. It is our bad that we did not include Perlis players as a candidate for Kedah beforehand. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. To further answer your question, the Kedah Qualifiers (May 25th-26th) will be open to both Kedah and Perlis players and the East Coast Qualifiers (June 23rd-24th) will be open to Perlis, Terengganu, and Pahang players. You are allowed to combine each players (+1 Perlis, +1 Terengganu, and +1 Pahang etc) per state to form a minimum requirement of 3 local-based players. Also, if your state is not listed in any one of the qualifiers, you will be allowed to join the closest one according to distance and location.

hi i'm from selangor and studying in kedah, i have 4 kedah based player? so we're able to join right?

Yup, you more than qualify for the minimum requirement of 3 kedah based players for the Kedah Qualifiers on May 25th - 26th!

Hi, I'd like to ask if only the first 32 teams who submit their registration form are able to participate in the tournament or are there any other exceptions for other teams who didn't manage to submit their form in time to join?

Hi Poormanhas,

There will be no exceptions or favoritism given to teams that register late. We will give top priority to any team that sign up on time with legit details and information. At the tournament day itself, extra slots will only be given to registrants after 32+ if a team in the 32-list did not make it on time/at all.
