Today I fell to the voice within and went to TRU sale. After telling myself not to be tempted I finally bought 8295 Telescopic Handler. It was at 40% discount how could any1 resist? I'm weak I know, shame on me 
The other toys were bought for my little boy otherwise the wife bising    why only buy papa's toy? hehe..


All Legos there are in mint condition unlike some other toys with crumpled box, etc. During my two hours there I saw the staff restocking 2 full trolleys of Star Wars and Agents. The 8295 are the only Technics available. I hope they don't stock anymore Technics, wait till next sale lah...abis duit aku...

not yet out, but singapore has the set ready for purchase. its around S$335.90 which is around RM$820, but if ur lucky to get pass thru the custom in johor that is hehe

Here's something I did which is technical: Motorizing the 8448 supercar. I am using Power Function parts from my monster Dino to do this motorization. Below are some pictures.

The 8448 supercar with gull-wing setup. This design allows a HUGE space in the boot for motorizing it.


The steering mechanism. Originally wanted to have it set up so that the steering wheel can turn also, but not enough parts (need those universal joints connecting the steering wheel) to do it for front wheel drive.


The XL motor connected to the engine. As you can see it is well connected to the gearbox and chassis. This is crucial since the XL motor is quite strong and you need a high torque to turn the wheels and not let it "jump" gears since if it does not turn the gear, it will try to turn itself apart from its mounting.


Another view of the steering and XL motor with IR receiver. The white driver's seat was taken out to do this shot. Unfortunately I am not able to fit in the passenger side seat.


Battery compartment.. well, I just stash it in the boot  ;D Easier to replace and connect/reconnect.


Another shot with remote. As you can see, the remote is SMALL compared to the whole car.


Overall you can't really go fast in this set-up. This is due to the gear setup as well as the friction that the motor has to overcome throughout the gearing. The best gear to drive is 1st gear. Using any gear higher the car will move very slowly (like a real car, trying moving from standstill in 5th gear). When the car is moving the V8 turns too!

Paanjang16: Is 1 M motor enough to drive the Handler/Hauler? Or maybe can use 2 in place of 1 XL.
Each IR receiver controls 2 motors right? I think maybe can try buying from Bricklink.

Any1 bought 8293 set from any local store? The staff in Brickboy in Tropicana told me it costs 125 but they didbn't hav stock. I think she got it wrong coz I saw Jusco selling for 178.
