Ho ho ho.

Coming over to KL this weekend.

Will have to drop into the Lego shop in Berjaya Times Square.

Would anyone know if they have the Cafe Corner set? The one with the 2000+ pieces.

That one looks class.

Nice pics and vids Johnny. From the pictures and box it clearly shows the Bulldozer comes with a complete RC system using the new Power Function system drool.gif
This model seems to have a lot of studded bricks..... strange model indeed cos i tot they already migrated to pure studless build a long time ago ?

I like the toilet roll dispenser hehe.... Just gotta make sure you secure it tightly to the wall and dont accidentally drop it into the bowl biggrin.gif

The retail price here is 1399. Way too overpriced.....

I think you would be better off buying it online. It's still cheaper after including shipping. You can try to buy from bricklink as most of the stores ship worldwide.

hmmm.. kinda dissapointed wiv some of u guys here for not sharing the warehouse sale news in this forum, BEFORE it ended.

I know its NOT obligated for anyone to tell others. but when they know bout it and and REFUSE to share wiv fellow LEGO fans, this tells alot about the attitude of those people.

*haiz*
*
Give johhny a break alan, if he knew earlier im sure he would have posted it earlier. I also got to know this after it was over....

QUOTE(shumaky @ Jul 16 2007, 01:34 PM)
aiks.. the lego sales came n left oredi issit..??
is so.. them y even bother to post it here.. demm...
anywayz.. was there any mindstorm nxt for sale there..??
i really wanna get 1 (online or thru retail).. but scared that not many ppl have it here.. thus the community to make such item better is lost.
like u can share thoughts on building a better bot n such.. n seek help if ur stuck.. I know online community got.. but local community is alwayz better imho.
*
Eric Tan started a thread about Mindstorms NXT sometime ago, but due to the size of the community here it didnt take off as expected. But hey, the international community is superb and it's growing bigger and bigger every second. So maybe we need to be the ppl to get things rolling.

QUOTE(dgrebel @ Jul 17 2007, 01:26 AM)
i wonder does mindstorm still holds water in Malaysia? i used to dream of owning the kit (cost 1k+ that time)

where can i still get it right now? jaya jusco still got or not? how much eh? coz i still have my technics and lego parts.
*
Get it from bricklink, it's much much cheaper.

QUOTE(johnnycp @ Jul 17 2007, 02:27 AM)
Most of the big LEGO sets selling in Malaysia is rediculous over priced. My advice is you get it from www.bricklink.com. It is something like EBAY, but Bricklink is dedicated to all LEGO stuff only. If you owned a credit card, it is good to buy all the big big sets from Bricklink. even after included the shipping and insurance, it still cheaper than u buy in Malaysia SIGNIFICANTLY.
*
Agreed.

this is a good idea to have a community like this. but i dont have car though sad.gif
btw, what is the purpose of this meet up?? are u going to play something like Table-Top game?
i only own a few castle and viking sets..
My suggestion, why dont we post up the pictures of our LEGO customization? else this thread will
be meaningless and partially dead.
*
Yea, a picture speaks a thousand words.

QUOTE(sakurakinomoto @ Jul 25 2007, 06:45 PM)
Hi Guys, Nice to meet you all, after I saw the posts in here (didn't read finish the whole 34 pages), I was convinced to share my joy here.

I'm 17, Miri Sarawak. I participate in NXT Competition, Got 3rd over 14. =( I'm using sensor to operate my NXT, And however, during the first match, My Robot eventually Hit the obstacle T_T. During the second round, I pass it completely =D. Wasted 30++ Seconds though.

Before the competition, I bought my 9797 NXT Mindstorm for RM4K++, Thanks to the teacher, we get a price of RM2.3K. I bought my track too, to practice on. A lot of money was splashed onto this competition, but since last year, I learnt my mistake, always replace the darned batteries before entering 2nd round/check the batteries (I'm using RCX at that time, Insufficient training, and lack of experience) so I lost. This year, i came back well prepared but still mistake occur.

How about you guys? I want to post my Picture of my 9797 here soon. Proud owner of 9797
*
WTF 9797 costs RM4k++ rclxub.gif No wonder the NXT community is so small in Malaysia.... But hey just post any interesting pictures you have, especially your creations.

QUOTE(designer69 @ Jul 26 2007, 08:58 AM)
My purpose is just to meet more lego players....slowly as the group grows larger we can form our very own lug. It was just a suggestion only so if we do come to play it will be like a mini Table-Top game. Wonder how the other LUGs around the world run. Do they bring their own sets, or do we make do with what the host has? I need more feedback on this so that we can eventually form a group. What say you?
*
How about coming up with mini challenges with themes once in a while and meet up somewhere during the deadline to show off your creations to each other ?

My latest MOC: Viking Siege Tower
Buildtime: ~2hours
Brickcount: unknown
Comment:
The height is quite good. Suitable to siege most of the LEGO castle.
It is modified from Viking Heavy Catapult

Thanks mate, I'll try your suggestion to attach pictures and by the way what is ABS?
*
It stands for Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, basically a type of high quality plastic.

been to Jusco Kepong. Saw Bionicle: Battle of metronui set at 30% discount. box condition is not so good. original price is 399.90, after 30% off would be around $280.00 lo. ONLY ONE SET

more info on this set: http://www.brickset.com/detail.aspx?Set=8759-1
*
I thought the usual discount for LEGO is only 10%? Seldom see anything more than that in retail outlets like Jusco and i would say 30% discount off LEGO is a good bargain.

I dont think it can interface with NXT computer brick.
This is just simple motor with wireless remote control

I just found out from LEGO's faq that these motors can be used with the NXT, here's the link:

I guess you can call this an "illness of profession"(translation from cantonese) hehe...
Just like a football fan seeing football in everything. (Makan bola, tidur bola, minum cola) But I can assure you there are crazier geeks out there coming up with the most outrageous ideas.

Looking at the minifigs got me thinking whether LEGO has come out with any Spartan or Roman minifigs yet. It would be so cool to see King Leonidas with studs haha xD

lately i ship 2 sets of huge castle and 1 box of bricks. The custom duties cost me ~RM270.
so good luck to you.
*
Last time i bought the 8435 4wd and 2 bags of Technic Accessories from US cos i cant get the technic acc from here. Total was about US$70(~RM280), after adding shipping and duty the total was about RM450. So each time u buy from foreign online stores just factor in at least another extra RM200+ for the total cost. If the total savings is greater than shipping+duty or it's some rare item then it's still worth it.

Sigh, went to TRU in Avenue K and 1 Utama but truly disappointed because Lego has only 10% sale which I could get it anytime in other departmental stores. The only 20% sale is the Bionicle huge set. Sacrificed my gym session for it but turned up to be a disappointing sale  mad.gif

Sigh, just wait for Texchem sale while now buy more minifigs and Star Wars Lego from Brickboy sounds like a better plan for me  blush.gif
*
vmad.gif I went there too yesterday but it was already closed *Business hours: 11am-8pm*

Well at least now we got scout reports so i dun need to waste anymore time. Thanks superman wink.gif

If I can get someone to buy and send back the LEGO from lego.com, who would be interested?
*
Sounds interesting, but like alan said the customs tax + shipping can be quite hefty sometimes cos last time i bought my NXT from the states i kena 15% tax and USD60+ for shipping. But if we can get away with the customs tax then we may join forces for the greater good biggrin.gif

Hey, another technic fan ! Any extra 8294 Excavators or 8295 Telescopic Handlers to "dispose" of? Maybe i can help you to "recycle" some of it smile.gif

Eric - regarding ordering LEGO from the States, i found that one of the Bricklink shops called The NERDS Shop consistently sell Mindstorms & Technics at rock bottom prices and they are way below the US retail prices. Just check this out:

8295 Telescopic Handler

yeah...brickboytoys is selling at that range..you have to blame it on the gov for charging so high taxes. I wish I live in the states. can buy so many lego sets at so cheap prices.  somemore earning few thousand USD per month. tongue.gif

so you interested to buy this? i can see off at 599..tongue.gif
*
I don't think you want to live in the states now if you know what i mean.....what good is cheap LEGO if you don't even have an income ?

On a side note, LEGO in the States is ridiculously priced because of the market and competition, just check out this article and you'll know why
