hi all

firstly, apologies for such a noobish question on the matter.

i've trouble fixing my regular tap/faucet to my new washing machine inlet.
i've screwed all 4 screws of the inlet to the tap and tighten it to the rubber washer but it still leaks a lot...
i then bought a tap with screws at the outlet and yet face the same problem... cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

please help!!! as i wanna do it DIY, if possible  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

thanks in advance

a noob..

This is what I do:

1. use this tap as you already change to this.

2. Take out the screw connector head become like this

3. Your washing machine hose

4. Take out this stupid thing
Attached Image
5. become like this both ends the same

6. Connect by screwing one end to the tap (2) and the other end to your washing machine
Result, no leak.

thanks bro for the clarity..one more question though
from this coupling, the female is connected to the male of the tap..thats okay.
but how to connect this coupling to the machine hose? as the end of this coupling is a "nipple"? and not another male/female screw?

Two options.

One go and find a tap that can screw on to the hose.

The other according to ozak. Go buy this adaptor
Attached Image
Screw it to the tap, as ozak said make sure the rubber ring is inside for water tight.

Then dont throw the stupid thing. Take the 4 screws out and push this "stupid thing" into the adaptor.

Ok, Here is the solution with picture you will understand as what ozak said and exactly what I do.
Attached Image

Now you can see. You take out the metal ring with 4 screws attached to it thing. throw that away, that is the stupid thing dont know who invented it cause so much of leaking problem to users.

Without the metal ring and the 4 screws on it this become the female of the tap adaptor. Push the female (hose) to the male adaptor. That's all.

thanks bro..understand but on the part "Take the 4 screws out and push this "stupid thing" into the adaptor".. how do i do this? since the inlet is plastic..how do i fit it into the plastic?
unless its a hose, i can still force the end of the adapter into the hose...

Have you got a garden hose where you use this adaptor to connect to hose for spray?

Nevermind, Look at this pic there are 3 male and 2 female. You need just the male, the one at the middle where one end is with thread for screwing on to tap head/outlet.
Attached Image
This pic show the thread: screw it to the tap.
Attached Image
Now the female. As said the male and female are not to be screwed on. It has to be push in together and it click water tight. Pic below show the female and the arrow to push in.
Attached Image
And this female is same as this one your original washing machine hose tap end minus the 4 screw and a ring. see pic below the one one the left is the female same as pic above. Your original one is the one on the right, after taking out the metal ring and 4 screw it become like the left one.

You just need to push them in, no need a lot of force. like this on the right one in below pic.

Right, post the hose picture. If your hose pic is same as what is shown here then you must try it out inorder to understand. Just go and buy the male end as shown in the pic.

OK here is the pic of all posible washing machine hose connections, but all the same.
Attached Image

The pic shows 4 types of connectors. the no 3 is the one connect to the machine.

When the machine came the hose come with no 2 adaptor connected to no 1. As you can see you got leaking problem with no 2. What you need to do it throw away the no 2. then go and buy the tap with thread (which you have bought). then go and buy the male adaptor screw it on to this new tap. Then everything become easy. Just push no 1 into the male adaptor.
---------
Then you see this pic below. The picture show you this is the kind of tap you should use. It also tell you to buy the male adaptor and connect it to the tap. The picture also tells you which one not to use( the head/adaptor) and use only the left one (or no. 1 as in pic above).
So you go home and take out the not to use head either pull down or unscrew it depending which type of hose connection you have

Are you saying after taking out the stupid thing (the 4 screws thing) and you connect the hose to the tap? If this is the case do you know why it leaks? Because the tap male does not have a rubber ring. See pic

ahh..okok..guess i'll just take the rubber ring from my male coupling and fit it on the tap!??!!

Not sure if it fits. You can try putting it along the lower neck if not middle. Good luck.
