Hai guys...

I've been biking for a while and have found my discipline. I love jumping and riding berms so me and a few friends has started work on building berms and jumps near our place.

Ok cut to the chase, the question. I ride the commencal premier size S and the geometry and measurements are quite close to the commencal absolute which is a DJ. My bike can currently get a few centimeters of air and rides berms pretty well. Is there any suggestions i can do to make my ride more dialed on a tight budget? Or just wait till parts fall apart?

TL;DR - XC to DJ convert. Is it possible?

Can convert but frame not as tough. DJ frames are pretty heavy because of the ketebalan aluminium...
*
i see.. Frame is made of 6061 alu. Welds are strong.. But when i jump, its very tail heavy. Hard to pop the back wheel and descend following the landing's gradient. Welds are strong too. Been wondering if a single speed convert would be nice or just upgrade the transmission. Using acera and it bobbles a lot especially after landing and riding berms.

Well, Aptos is a dirt jump park built by the community in california. You can search youtube, look for aptos dirt jumps and pick redbull's video. The jumps there are just sick.

So me and some friends decided that the plane ticket is too expensive so we decided to build our own dirt jumps. We have also built two berms here. The park is still uncompleted because of primitive building and digging tools. We are building the jumps at bukit bandaraya, shah alam. Work is kinda slow due to the lack of wheelbarrow and the fact that our hoe got stolen.

And here is me testing out the berm we built. We have improved the construction and the longkang now so its quite drift-able. I think its good for main-main petang petang. But we build what we like. And im impressed how main2 petang2 like this can make me ride switchbacks better and faster. LOL. Such a noob

I went to carbon free sunday too. Say Kecik Ipoh fell and cracked his skull. Went into spasms right after. Got a message from the organisers that he got 8 stitches. After seeing that, I will ALWAYS wear a helmet from now on.

Thanks for reminding me guys.

hey guys, would like some advice from all the sifus.

i wanna start cycling again, but the last time i cycled was 10 years ago (literally), just got back my old bike from the shop (sent for servicing and check up), was wondering if u guys got any tips in starting again, and do u guys have any recommendations on where should i cycle.? have always been XC. im staying in subang jaya if that helps.

Thanks in advance.
*
Well if u are in subang, u can always come to bukit bandaraya. Got a nice singletrack for XC. Its short and one can go in and out as many times as they want. Or u can go to the end where there is a good steep slope to practice and train fitness and climbing. We call it bukit tangki (cuz on top of the hill, there is a water tank). There are a few entrances to the trail. Its an easy track. Good to lepas gian la. If the weather permits, there are always people who main2 petang2 in the trail there.

Wanna use single chainring? XX1 is the way... Your frame got ISCG tab?
*
Since we are talking about single chainrings. I always wondered if we can run a 1x10 for example with no chain guide?

Nope. Unless XX1 chainring. Why? Because chain will drop when your rear tire hentak2 on the ground.
*
HAHA. i forgot about that. i am almost about to take out my smallest and largest chainring. already got my tools out. LOL

Btw, i have a question for u guys.

can u please help me. Thing is i have a problem with me pulling up my handlebars when i jump. I can bunnyhop well and am able to jump over obstacles. But at the take off of a jump, i can get some air but my pulling of the handlebars (is there a better term?) aint that strong. I can pull it as high as those videos we like to see. I can compress the rear wheel until the seat (which is slammed) kiss my buttcheeks so the rear aint a problem. Just that front pop aint good.

do u guys have any tips? Practices and stuff. any pointers will do

Could the fork is absorbing your pop...?
*
Hurm.. Haven't thought of that. It might be laa. Too bad i cant adjust the compression or rebound. Do u guys pull it to ur tummy or to ur chest? Cuz a brother told me to pull the handlebars to the chest. I dont know if its the right technique or just bro-science.

And somore... u need to drive in to fetch with your new Honda.  shakehead.gif
Can... use the new RD which supposed to be less ass slapping.
Bang... u blum check XX1 price kan? Ha! Ha! Whole groupo is below 3k bang...
He! He! You really ask wrong question. Here ... we don't even know how to ride. U asking us how to jump ah? Adui... Unless u got Vimana... then diff story.
*
I've seen many riders who say they are not kuat, they dont ride much la, cant jump la but has dragon legs when pedaling and eagle wings when taking jumps. So since there are a lot who ride kiara, ride here and there, its kinda hard to believe.

I do want to learn to be a better rider. and i like how people here emphasis on wearing a helmet, have proper gear for riding.

And dont forget the bike porn here. drool.gif

and tech question:

Is it worth it using those plastic pedals? Kore's are selling for RM39 at this store in Bangsar. looks ok. or should i go for steel platform pedals? My pedals hurt my shins too much.

my pedal looks like this
