XC racers use 680mm and below.
AM riders usually around 700mm - 750mm.
DH people will ride more than 750mm.

So, choose your pick.

Okay..I'll ask myself which one I really like.
I'll plan to do 50/50. Half road half mountain. Basically I'll ride the bike to a specific place like Bkt Gasing or Kiara Park from my house and once I reach there I'll enjoy the journey in the mountain.

I might not be able to ride all the way in the jungle, so I do understand at some point I'll need to carry my bike to cross certain obstacle.
I do think 1.6k additional is awesome. Based on given shocks for meta am. Just wanting to know the pros and cons of each bike for your personal experiences and knowledge. Simple as that.

Added on December 13, 2012, 1:08 amBeside jungle, I'm planning to ride at some open construction site that I've scouted. Nice slope and awesome trail. I might not be able to enter and ride on those place I scouted but I'll surely find places like that to ride.

try fasten it with cable tie and place some antislip padding in between gap, might help..not sure

A very good explanation you have. I would actually want to enjoy more on trail & DH. I don’t really like to actually “carry/transport” my bike around with car. Hence I decided to ride it on the road to a specific place I want to reach. To me since it is a bike that act somehow of a transportation doesn’t really make sense for me to transport my bike with my car. I do still need to buy a carrier if my partner would want to join me for cycling.

My main purpose is to enjoy trail & DH. Not on mainly on road as I don’t really care about enjoying on road.

I’ll try to hike around Kiara Park, but I have no idea if I can even actually enter the bike trail or not? wouldn’t it be dangerous for people to simply hike in and you guys are cycling? I mean I have no idea how does the place look like but to me when you have human walking and bike doing downhill & etc etc..pretty dangerous.

As for bkt. gasing, not all place you can actually ride. Basically bkt. Gasing is for people to do hiking but I would love to cycle that at certain hour which there are not much people venturing in the jungle. At certain point you will need to carry the bike up.

So far I’ve compared, Meta AM got lots of good review on specification wise and 214 got lots good review on value for money based on given upgraded spec and frame geometry for 2013 model. All I can find via online.

you ask the wrong question. its not weather a 160mm bike can climb or not. its the design, are they build for climbing. some AM bike with good geo can climb very well. mine does. but no matter how good the bike design and how well it can climb.. AM bike are AM bike, they are heavier with slacker front... that is the penalty; and that is what make it tiring to climb. the bigger the travel the bike has the heavier it is.

alu AM bike are around 14kg +- depending on setup. and they cost whole lot more with a 160mm fork up front (fox36 is way more expensive than fox32). 150mm fork are cheaper too... so blurlt can be lighter and cheaper to build. consider that point too.

so can it do kiara, pcp and hash...? hell yea... but its heavy.. especially hash... hash have a lot of climbs, you would appreciates lighter bikes. like it or not... light bike is easier on long ascent. so depend on which activities you do more... choose ur weapon wisely.
