U talk so much... no see u join us in Kiara already... how come?
Why do you need sound? Haiz.

Mavic got no sound la. Got sound also very humble type.
I am using DT... got a bit of sound.
Mau bising one... go for Chris King or Hope or i9.
Suma bising macam hantu.

Based on physic theory... the louder the sound, the more resistant it got. The more resistant it got, the more energy you require to pedal.
As simple as that.

Wheelsets are very much depending on budget and availability. In Malaysia, wheelset choice is limited.

For me, I still choose the color I like instead of which is better. He! He! He!
*
i agreed with you....so we better to be humble here.

Putting in a 50mm stroke shocks on a Trance will net a 5.5" travel instead of the normal 5" travel.

Is Saris a good bike rack? does it leave scratches to you car like Allen? It looks more solid though ...

I think the best is still to mount it on the roof ....but I just dont like the looks of it on a sedan car ..
*
use Seasucker rclxms.gif
but anyhow, i still will go with the rack blush.gif

Thanks for the reply and great advise. I am new and i want to have some good decent. As far for protective gears I would get it for the purpose that required me to be on the track safely.

Really appreciate you guys for the advise. smile.gif

maybe u can try out all mountain before u in DH, get a feel of it first and if u really into MTB, you can then choose your interest. i guess most DH rider will have a second bike instead just stick to DH only.

ya, should try out trail & all mountain. Where would be the good place to start? and how long to finish it?

It is not that I don't like XC my perception is that it is a long distance cycling ...but doing it with MTB, pls correct me if I am wrong.
*
Sometimes Xc is fun to be, it able to train your stamina well and skill as part of a beginners session, most beginners will begin with Xc and then only decide which category to venture. Some more could be cheaper to begins. A real am bike is not cheap to begin with and a decent Xc bike could be an option to start with.
How much is your budget to begin with Mtb? May ask yourself and it's not a small amount to begin with an am bike, at least u need a built up or complete bike of 7k at least, or even more to start with am.
