Retaking SPM, necessary?

It really depends on the college you are about to enroll into. The basic requirement is 5Bs at SPM including sciences, thereafter at least 3Bs at foundation or pre-u. You can check with the colleges that offer dentistry n foundation courses n ask them if you sign up for foundation in science AND at the same time resit the paper n pass both later, will you be considered for selection. Bear in mind that even if you qualify for selection, you may not get a place due to stiff competition.
