My bachelor is majoring in Accounting, perhaps I may help you.

Since you want to become an accountant, I would suggest taking courses that lead you to MIA qualification as soon as possible. Going for professional course like ACCA (3 years) seems to be the fastest one, albeit one has to work in relevant field for 3 years upon receipt of such qualification before one is recognized as a competent accountant.

In short, ACCA>Work (3 years)>MIA Exam> WIN

Or, you may choose to undertake bachelor courses with accounting as major. Public institutions seem to be the best bet for you. Normally it lasts for 4 years, but what is good is that upon graduation, you're qualified for MIA exam. Unlike most private institutions which offer 3 years courses, one has to undertake additional, say, 5 professional papers before eligibility for MIA exam.

When I mean MIA exam, it means passing (what I heard is real easy) exam(s). The significance is that after such exam, one is granted 'accountant' licence to practice accountancy in Malaysia.

Hope it helps. If you choose to keep your options wider, I suggest a competent private institutions backed up by scholarship. Fire up your study skill and see where it leads you. Hope you will serve locally for Malaysia.

Alex
