Here's how I'll sum up the weekend.
1) Fantastic result over Everton. I say so because even though our tactics were a little questionable in the first half, we adjusted in the second by pushing Stevie further forward, having Suarez play more central instead of out wide and having Downing swap wings with Henderson for the whole half.
2) Chuffed for Carroll. Missed an open goal but made ammends when it mattered. Showed good work ethic by chasing down balls, and even displayed a willingness to play the ball with his feet instead of laying it off immediately. May be blamed for a lack of effort all this while but in this game, he tried.
3) Gutted for Carra. Not all his fault though. Agger should have cleared it first time and neither player took responsibility. His failure to pick up Jelavic in the second half almost led to a goal. Thankfully, the Croat put it into the side netting. Not one of his better games in a red shirt by far.
4) Very nice gesture from Everton, whose fans brought with them a wreath to honour the fallen 96. Many Liverpool fans will testify that the rivaly which has produced the most red cards of any derby in England, though competitive, has become a friendly one after the support that Everton fans showed after 15th April 1989.
5) Happy Birthday Rafa Benitez.
6) Learned not to take jibes from a certain Scotsman too seriously in future (http://www.thisisanfield.com/2012/04/ferguson-the-hypocrite-strikes-again/)
Added on April 16, 2012, 10:48 amIn regards to the classless Chelsea fans at this morning's semi-final, here's a first hand account. Seems it was only a small group of them to be fair.
QUOTE
Just got back from the game, my brother is a Chelsea fan so I went with him. The commentator made the announcement clear that there was silence was for both Hillsborough and the Italian footballer. The initial mention of Hillsborough drew boos (a tier down to my right) from the Chelsea end, whilst mention of the Italian footballer drew applause from the entire stadium, and I knew then there was going to be trouble. After the whistle blew, there was absolute silence from the Spurs end. The same Chelsea area that booed previously then started chanting, but I couldn't really make out what they were saying. To be fair, Most of the Chelsea end started shushing them, but the disrespectful group carried on, leading to other Chelsea fans shouting at them to 'shut the f*** up' and the like. Another group behind me joined in the disrespectful group, and again other Chelsea fans tried to shush them.
It was an awkard situation as you din know whether to break the silence yourself to tell others to be quiet. It was disgusting behaviour, but I would say it was max 20 Chelsea fans in total.
