aiya..cvt not that fragile lah.. at least for me. just use recommend cvtf and not those aftermarket ones and you'll be fine.

the only problem as it gets older is the time it takes to engage to drive/or reverse from parking during cold starts.

yea..it was a risk i knew when i bought the inspira, but as long as the drivetrain is good, i can slowly play with proton regarding the suspension sound.

not only need recommended cvtf, u will also need to pay attention during service time on the cvt box mountings/bushes. they will degrade and break at somepoint which will cause misalignment between the cvt box n engine. prolonged condition will cause either side to wear more to the breaking point. but this is not only applicable to cvt, the same for auto n manual. and factors can be due to time(4-7yrs), driving habit, temperature, bla bla bla. my 2 cents

if it is the bushing at the control arms or lower arm, change suspension also wont make any difference..

launch date drawing near. wonder if a remapping of the ECU to lower the torque for higher HP will be available. can go for higher powerband too. now the HP is only equilvalent of 1.8 car tongue.gif

CFE not as powerful as 2.0 car meh?
*
depending on the gears and axle ratios, it may lose out at the top speed when racing with a true NA 2.0. the acceleration on the other hand is good given the torque available for picking up from zero and after braking or cornering, it will have good advantage. typically for city drive + normal highway use. the downside is the weight due to reinforced safety chassis. until we can see the car in reality, test drive it and look at the specs sheet, i would stress out these are just my assumptions.

anyone have seen the video of p3-21a chasing persona on a slalom race? im just wondering if that persona is a stick 1.6 smile.gif

i don't think you should do that.. you're gonna lunch the cvt gb and it'll cost you a bomb to replace..
want mod, wait p3-22a with 5(or maybe even 6)-speed stickshift..

or maybe can transplant halfcut mitsus??
heh, bro mat aka insider proton, can ah?

as much or even more than some N/A 2.0 engines in terms of torque (205 nm)

max horsepower is only 138
i wonder why they couldn't use the r3 version of the campro as the basis.. it already had 145 bhp and 168nm of torques to begin with..
imagine 110 hp > 138 +28 hp
145hp+ 28= 173hp, same as Prince engine THP175!!
*
the torque n hp available to the wheels still fall back to the ratios from the axle and gb. finding the balance between the needed torque n hp will determine how well the car can perform. it can make the car good in acceleration but bad in top speed or the other way. maybe bro Mat can shed some lights on this biggrin.gif

he...he...i'm not insider by the way. The question is, how fast u want to drive the car?
Example, in exora bold cfe, with nearly 1.5 tonne body, less aerodynamic than p3. Cfe already can launch it at speed beyond 200kmh. If beyond 200kmh is not enough, then, i think this car will not suit u. Talking about hp numbers, yes, the bigger, the better, but, let say, in the same car, same cc engine, one is 100hp, another one is 120hp, how much that 20hp translate to kmh? Just around 5-10kmh only. Back to the question, how fast the better hp car achieve the speed?

A common mass production car is not built for speed. It is more on usable power. For even 1.6 turbo(except race prepared car), speeding beyond 180kmh is a stress n it takes time to achieve speed beyond 200kmh.

Safe to say that based on info i gathered from prtn, speeding to 180kmh is effortless for a 1.6 car, even comparable with many 2.0 na cars.

As i mentioned above, if u r constantly drive beyond 180kmh, need speed more than 200kmh everytime u hit the fast lane, the car is not for u. But if U just need to speed beyond 180kmh only when it needed, or just for fun once a while, then, it will be rewarding.

great insight notworthy.gif im averaging 140 - 170kmh only on speedway. so this is a good enough car at that price range. looking forward to its birth to our market

That's where Malaysian need to change their mindset.
We need to be more confident with ourself. In our eyes, we are not as good as mat salleh/Japenese or Korean.
We always look thing in negative way when it come to Malaysian product.
Don't know why. Maybe Malaysian naturally born tspeo praise others.
Proton not in position that we can proud of yet but with right support, it got potential.

Specifically for proton, now they need to repair back their image, which was trampled down by their own history. they brought it down themselves, now is their own to bring it up again.i fully support if it is coming out with good products n improving. not with the same model for another 20 yrs which intention is to earn for own pocket from the poor rakyat
