Long story short, I've been offered sponsorship by Petronas to do chartered accountancy in any of the Big 4 before joining Petronas after 3-4 years. Does anyone how much one can earn as chartered accountant at Petronas? I'm calculating the cost and benefit whether to take up this offer as everyone know doing audit job with low pay and taking chartered accountancy at the same time is quite tough for some of us.

Yes, it's tough, but chartered accountants in Petronas are highly valued and appreciated. Even more than engineers...

Rafizi Ramli (I hope you know him) is a chartered accountant eventhough his degree is in engineering.

That was before the engineers bolted en-masse (2000 and counting). Now they realise that they are an Oil & Gas company and not an accounting firm.

yup Rafizi earned 5 digits if I'm not mistaken during his stint at Pet though he's highly experienced thus the lucrative pay

yeah, i also think that the CA there can earn 5 digit, as i hear that fresh graduate already get 4k++

sponsorship ?? where did u apply it ? is it on their official website ?

They told me about it in a career fair. Then I sent the guy an email application.

Added on September 25, 2012, 10:49 pmPetronas told one of us that when we join the company after 4 years in audit firm we only get 5.5k monthly for start. I dont know how the increment/promotion after that. Plus there will be 8years bond. Do you guys think is it a worthy path to go through?
