i had the same annoying problem too, but the pattern security lock solved my problem

not working....not sure whether my router wifi setting got not match or not with my SGW.... my BB Torch can connect with no problem...

root is awesome , just root it , if u concern about warranty , just unroot it afterward

Firmware same?  Both also running same apps?
Warranty does not cover water damage.

Warranty card is not important. If your phone has any problems, just bring it to any Samsung service centers and your IMEI number (located near the battery) will be inspected upon as that number will have been computerized in their system.

How do I transfer mp3s, images, and videos to the phone? After I've connected the phone to my PC, I get a message saying the disk drive is full when I tried to transfer some files into the phone.

When I checked the USB storage space (is this what I'm supposed to check?) on my phone, it says the total space is 1.70GB and the available space is 1.52GB. But when I checked on my PC, it says the whole 1.70GB has been used.

Is there some special software needed? Or do I need an SD card?

is your usb debugging ticked? Check under settings-> applications-> development->tick USB debugging
Then connect your usb cable. You'll get to see USB is connected in the pull down screen(whatever it's called). Press the notification and press connect usb storage. Then you can access both disks.

Follow the first method. Rooting via Recovery method. This is the easiet. Nothing else is easier. Download the file from your phone(make your life easier, no need PC in this case), place it in the root directory. Means in the outside most folder when you open 'My Files'. Then you can follow the guide. It just take you around 2 mins for whole process. Don't even need luck. Won't actually go wrong unless you can't read simple english   

Now I don't care that much. I usually leave wifi on overnight and it still drains 5~6% over 8 hours. No complain on battery life. Btw, as you use it for some time, you won't even care about that. It makes not much of difference, believe me. LOL
