Do you have a data plan? AGPS helps tremendously. Even without plan, you can consider using AGPS, the 1KB of data requested should cost 10 sen only.

Regardless, try these:
1) install FasterFix to change your NTP server (need root)
2) install GPS Status & Toolbox to view satellite strength, etc
3) wipe EFS data (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12764930) (I never tried this)

TBH, I never did any of those steps on SGW, becos the GPS performance is already superb. I only tried those steps on other phones with problems. SGW has one of the best GPS performance I've tried, better than HTC IS, SGSL, etc.

For me SGW have problems with Satellite Locking since it takes too long to lock onto satellites...
Compared to other phones like symbian....

What i observed is, my SGW when start up a GPS software like Sygic, the system already detect
more than 3 satellite with strong signal but still take too long time to lock on....

Actually it takes a long time to lock on satellites...Im suggesting you to use Sygic instead of Papago....
Use FasterFix to change the gps.conf file...Sygic only requires internet connection at first start as to download
the maps...The file is huge though...

Im using Sygic now, what can i say, its just very accurate and locking is just faster....

For those who upgraded the firmware with the recent update, did you lose your root? Were you able to root back? Thanks.
