Guys,
Lets get the ball rolling for this thread. Australia version does have 1.6ltr mated to 6speed auto. However it is a GDI version. Here is the review link. Kia rio australia review If Naza Kia is smart...they shall take this opportunity to price it right with the best spec/feature. They should know that they could no longer rely on Forte sale as P321 & new Elantra going to launch soon. Price this rio in between 60~75K will make their car in between myvi range to P321 range. This will be the option for ppl to jump ship from myvi or P321. One last thing, they should retain all the best safety features. Do not.. Do not compromise on safety. |

Well, if 1.4MPI & 4speeds auto... they should price it max 70K & still give all the fantastic spec/features.
But i cant help dreaming about the GDI. If they bring that version in & price it right... Its the best thing Naza Kia do for our Auto world we live in. Added on March 24, 2012, 8:43 pmBeesbond, Aside note, the diesel variant in UK is quite interesting as well. It is ranked the best fuel consumption car under What Car? Website... For me, the only P321 version worth getting is the highest spec. The manual & mid spec is nothing special.

Anyone has update on when this car is launching? Any price indication? ...sigh...dont know what else they are waiting for. Prius C, Jazz Hybrid, Preve all launched d.
Last I heard from "SA talk" is June launch n price at 70k range. I hope naza will not be too arrogant & ambitous to price it too high. Naza, u want to sell in huge number...sell the highest spec under 70K. |

Somehow i felt that this car was forced to on hold its launch...to ensure nothing can over shadow Preve sales. These 2 cars are going to share almost same pricing bracket.

Rio is a B segment/class car. Same as mazda 2, fiesta, myvi, polo, yaris, prius c, jazz, etc.
Picanto on the other hand is a A segment car, same as viva, alto, etc. Here is a spec sheet from Australia. The 1.6. GDI FC is better than normal 1.4 I really hope this car launched at a very competitive price. If 1.6 GDI like the australia, then i dont mind around RM70~75k. If 1.4, RM60~70k. Rio Australia Spec |

I also have been waiting for this car to launch. Planning to replace current wife savvy car. Been surveying a few compact cars, at the moment my wife like jazz hybrid but we will just continue wait until this car & perhaps 208 launch then rethink again.
The 208... I dunno...i can accept the interior but d exterior remind me of a small fish with mouth wide open... I suspect d 208 could be priced near 90~100k. |

The main questions now are when going to launch? & what will the price & spec be?
There is one time Kia Malaysia FB was hinting this car launch with a lot of Rio articles but then they just went silent about this car....sigh... |

1.6 variant? The only 1.6 variant available is the GDI version if i'm not mistaken. I dont think this they are bringing this version. If they do... It is very good indeed.
The 1.4 only downside is it is mated to the ancient 4speed gearbox. Nevertheless, if they price this 1.4 in the range of 60~70k, i dont mind the ancient gearbox. |

I doubt they will specially mate Rio to the 1.6MPI for our small malaysia market. Globally there is only 1.2MPI, 1.4MPI & 1.6GDI available using petrol.

Guys... I hope both of you wont be disappointed when the car is launched. It is by no meant to be winner in power & FC. Kia intention is to make this car as overall winner...as a package it is the best you are getting.
Here is review from Car Advice from Australia. Looking at current trend of Kia car we are getting...it is closer to those spec'ed in Australia. I believe our Rio will be the same as well. My gut feeling tells me that we are getting the 1.4ltr w/4speeds AT combined with the highest spec available in Australia. Now imagine yourself getting a ~70k car that have safety feature & other features that can put even 150k car to shame. But 1st, lets not put too high hope for good power & FC out from this car... Its just goin to spoil your mood & dream. Car Advice Rio Review |
