Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Killzone series that began on the PlayStation 2 with Killzone and continued on the PlayStation Portable with Killzone: Liberation. The game was first announced at E3 2005, with a tech demo on display, while the first gameplay footage was shown two years later at E3 2007. Killzone 2 was released worldwide late February 2009.
Plot
Story
Killzone 2 follows the events of Killzone and Killzone: Liberation, and will take place entirely on the planet Helghan, the home-world of the Helghast, who invaded an Interplanetary Strategic Alliance (ISA) colony. Two years after the Helghast assault on Vekta, the ISA has launched an assault on the enemy's home world of Helghan. The ISA goal is to capture the Helghast leader, Emperor Scolar Visari, and bring the Helghast war machine to a halt. Players assume the role of Sergeant Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko, a battle-hardened veteran of the special forces unit known as "The Legion", who go on a mission to take out the Helghast threat.
During the invasion of Helghan, Sev's unit is deployed behind enemy lines to assist the main invasion force. Tasked with securing the enemy capital of Pyrrhus, the team quickly discovers that the Helghast are a more formidable enemy on their home planet. Not only have they adjusted to Helghan's hostile conditions, they have also harnessed a source of power they can now use against the ISA - the very planet on which they live. A barren, unforgiving world, Helghan provides a ready defense with thick, acidic air, dust clouds, and violent surgical lightning storms. Sev discovers his squad is not just fighting enemy forces ? their fiercest opponent may be the planet itself.
Characters
Sergeant Tomas Sevchenko is the main character of Killzone 2, and part of the ISA Special Forces Alpha Team. He is a withdrawn and unusually contemplative man. At age 25 he's already been in several successful campaigns, but they've also exacted a toll on him. He's an imperfect soldier in a perfect army.
Corporal Dante Garza is a member of the ISA Special Forces Alpha Team. Smart-mouthed and young, Garza is still a loyal and trusty soldier who has earned his elite status.
Sergeant Rico Velasquez is a veteran of the ISA. He is a human tank who prefers to shoot first and ask questions later, if at all. He's all attitude but despite this he has a good heart. Rico prefers an up-front fight and is a character of extremes; he can get agitated very quickly and doesn't hold back on anything. During the orbital defense platform crisis, Rico was left stranded by a brutal Helghast attack and consequently befriended Templar, Luger and Hakha. Later, he became embedded with Alpha Team to spearhead the invasion on Helghanfs capital, Pyrrhus.
Corporal Shawn Natko is the demolitions expert for the ISA Special Forces Alpha Team.
Emperor Scolar Visari is the leader of Helghast forces and ruler of Helghan planet. He is responsible for the re-militarization of the Helghan troops after their defeat following the First Helghan War. He has succeeded in launching an invasion of one of ISA colonial planets, Vekta, to avenge what he sees as the abandonment and abuse of the Helghast. He is voiced by Brian Cox. Brian Cox has appeared on numerous Hollywood blockbuster movies such as Troy, The Bourne Identity and Red Eye.
Gameplay
Campaign
With Killzone 2, Guerrilla Games aims to provide the player with an immersive and cinematic gameplay experience that is grounded in reality with what they call "Hollywood Realism". The game is presented almost entirely from a first person perspective, aside from vehicular combat. Killzone 2 features a "lean and peek" cover system which allows the player to take cover behind an object and then pop out to fire at enemies. The "lean and peek" mechanic stays in first person view at all times. It has also been announced that Sev is able to pilot vehicles, such as tanks. Many classic weapons and vehicles from previous Killzone installments will be returning, such as the M82-G and the StA-52 LAR. The Sixaxis motion control feature will also be utilized in performing certain actions such as turning a valve, arming an explosive charge and sniping.
Multiplayer
"Warzone", the title of the multiplayer component of Killzone 2 has been developed by Guerrilla Games in conjunction with the game's single-player campaign. The multiplayer gameplay is class-based, meaning the player can choose a class of character which is specialized for a specific role to better suit the player's needs in battle. There will be 16 classes in total, in which the player can mix and match two according to their playing style, and can switch abilities upon death. It has been verified that there will be the option to use BOTS in multiplayer battles and a rumored Co-op patch is said to be available after release.
Warzone plays out through dynamic matches whereby multiple game types are played in a single round. The game ships with five different game types including Assassination, Search & Retrieve, Search & Destroy, Bodycount and Capture & Hold. Up to 32 players can connect online, and group into squads of up to four players. Furthermore, two squads can group together as a faction of eight players. Killzone 2 also offers a clan system, which allows clans of up to 64 players to compete for "Valor Points", an in-game currency that clans can use to bet on tournaments.
Vehicles have been confirmed to be part of the multiplayer experience and are to be patched after the game releases.
Development
At E3 2005, Killzone 2 was debuted with a trailer depicting soldiers landing in a hostile war-zone on Helghan and fighting Helghast forces. Critics in the media argued that the trailer shown at the trade show did not show actual gameplay footage, as its high level of visual detail has been argued to be impossible to render in real-time on the PlayStation 3 and the audio mix of the trailer was slightly delayed. SCEA's Vice President, Jack Tretton, stated that the footage of Killzone 2, that was believed to be pre-rendered, "is real gameplay everybody's seeing out there. Several days later, Phil Harrison, SCEA Europe's Vice President of Development, stated in an interview that all of the footage of PlayStation 3 games at E3 2005 were "running off video" which was "done to PS3 spec".
At the Game Developers Conference in 2007, a Killzone 2 teaser was shown behind closed doors, and was never released to the public. It featured various battles, destructible environments, and lighting effects among others. Killzone 2 was shown to a panel of journalists at a special pre-E3 2007 event in Culver, California, and then the next day to the public at Sony's E3 press conference. An in-game trailer showing real-time gameplay of Killzone 2 was also released, along with several videos of extended gameplay. A number of media outlets since E3, such as the BBC, have referred to Killzone 2 as being "one of the most cinematic and immersive games ever produced on a console." At the Leipzig Games Convention in 2007, Killzone 2 was presented in playable form to the media. It was the same demo level as shown at E3 2007, although journalists were allowed to play it hands-on. At Sony's PlayStation Day 2008, the first level in Killzone 2fs single-player campaign was presented, named "Corinth River".
Beta access was given to a select number of North American and European PlayStation Network subscribers. The beta consisted of three online multiplayer maps; "Blood Gracht" (small), "Radec Academy" (medium) and "Salamun Market" (large), with unlockable ranks and character classes ("badges"). Beta testers had their own statistics and have the ability to enter clan competitions. Beta access was private and thus could not be shared with other PlayStation Network accounts. Also, beta testers are tied with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. by a non-disclosure agreement; therefore they were not allowed to reveal contents of the beta experience.
A demo card, granting access to a Killzone 2 demo, was also offered to those who pre-ordered the game at GameStop, and will be available for download on February 5, 2009.
Technical Information
The Killzone 2 beta version was displayed in high definition 720p, locked at 30 frames per second.
Michal Valient, a Senior Programmer at Guerrilla Games, presented details of their Killzone 2 game engine at a Developers Conference in July 2007. As with many other titles published by Sony Computer Entertainment, including LittleBigPlanet and inFamous, Killzone 2 uses a deferred rendering engine which enables far greater control over the game's characteristic lighting palette, while maximising processor throughput and limiting shader complexity. Other games to use similar approaches include Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto IV and GSC Game World's Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl. However, this approach does create some additional problems; notably with respect to anti-aliasing and transparencies. The former was solved using a MSAA Quincunx (multisample anti-aliasing) solution, and the latter by the addition of a standard forward rendering path.
Reception
Killzone 2 has met with early critical acclaim. Based on 13 reviews, Killzone 2 currently holds a Metacritic score of 95 and also 96% on Game Rankings. Among early reviews as following:
100Playstation Official Magazine Australia I'll say it again: Killzone 2 is the best console first person shooter ever. It will be bested one day, and that is as it should be, but this game has set the proverbial bar so high we reckon it'll be the king for a good long while... Hail to the king, baby. [Feb 2009, p.66]
100GamePro It took a long time for Killzone 2 to finally come out, but after diving head first into the game, there's no doubt in my mind that it lives up to the hype and is a must-play for FPS fans. [Mar 2009, p.70]
100Playstation: The Official Magazine (US) It's true that Killzone 2 is filled with moments that can handily be described as inspiring awe. Each scene is incredibly well detailed, from the gaps in jerry-rigged cover points letting you sneak in a killing headshot to scarred and scratched textures, the planet feels entirely believable... Without a doubt Killzone fans, action and shooter fans of any stripe will instantly tag this sequel as a powerful contender for best game of 2009. [Feb 2009, p.38]
100Eurogamer Portugal Killzone 2 is without a doubt the high point for a project in videogaming. Believable, safe, coherent and above all, brilliant in its execution. A must-have for all those who love this art, especially for those in need of breathtaking experiences, where the different senses are laid on the table.
99MEGamers Killzone 2fs secret ingredient is the fluidity in gameplay that we have come to enjoy more than its graphical prowess or jaw-dropping visuals. And thatfs what games have always been about... We're surprised to see Killzone 2 blows our expectations out of the water with a memorable SP campaign and a stellar MP component. To put it short, this game makes "Gears of War 2" look like a high school attempt at gaming and that is a HUGE compliment!
95Meristation Killzone 2 rises from the ashes of the E3 2005 trailer to prove itself as even better; the most outstanding, immersive and technologically advanced first person shooter available for any console on the market. The dark and grim world created by Guerrilla hosts a crude conflict on Helghast soil, divided in 10 acts packed with a variety of situations portrayed with an epic tone. With a polished enemy AI, a huge multiplayer, a well balanced and powerful arsenal, 7.1 sound, great voice acting among some other strong points, few complaints can be made; only the lack of coop and some roughness in the allied AI. The rest is faithful and loyal to the promise Guerrilla made 4 years ago. Mission accomplished.
95Gameplayer Killzone 2 is a stunning game best suited for FPS aficionados, rabid graphics whores, and all proud Ps3 owners in general. Guerrilla Games have stepped up to the plate and delivered very comparable results to gthat preview videoh that blew our collective minds in 2005. Using Guerrillafs proprietary edeferred rendering enginef Killzone 2 squeezes a lot more juice out of the Ps3 than anything wefve seen thus far.
95InsideGamer.nl The great graphics, the very smart AI, the mind-blowing physics and the multiplayer mode you can play for months combined make Killzone 2 a true FPS-classic.
94IGN The single-player experience is a truly enjoyable campaign across the Helghast home world that will test your skills, particularly on the higher difficulty levels, and the game simply looks phenomenal for a console shooter. But perhaps the strongest segment of the game is the extremely deep multiplayer, which gives seven basic classes with which you can create your own customized super-soldier after performing your class-specific duties.
90IGN AU Outstanding. It is consistent in every respect and is testament to the talents of the developer as well as the power of the PS3 in the hands of a team that knows how to use the hardware - and who have the full support of Sony behind them. In the same stroke, it is not the be all and end all of console shooters, or even shooters on the PS3.
90Playstation Official Magazine UK Visually it's so far ahead of anything else out there it shatters your expectations...This is a PS3 showing what it's truly capable of and delivering a landmark piece of explosive entertainment you can't afford to miss. [Feb 2009, p.88]
90EuroGamer Killzone 2 is a taut and muscular game, a shooter that gives back more than you put in, provided you have the intestinal fortitude. It may take its time revealing its true depths and pleasures, but the journey is well worth taking. Between Killzone 2's unforgiving grit and Resistance 2's alien-bursting excess, the PS3 finally has both ends of the shooter spectrum covered in grand style.
90Level7.nu Technically it's a masterpiece with unparalleled graphics. Online it's only beaten by "Call of Duty Modern Warfare." The campaign is a bit short, but there are some really impressive scenes that I just wished were longer. Overall it's one of the best games in recent years and the most impressive-looking game ever. Killzone 2: An exclusive multiplayer guide from Guerilla Games
If you want to know the quickest way to rank up, the best way to maximise a class’s potential, or how to dominate each of the eight intricate maps that ships with Killzone 2, who better to ask then Eric Boltjes? As the Senior Online Designer of the game, Eric is the man responsible for creating the epic online component that we’ve been forsaking sleep for since the servers went live a week ago. He knows the inside tips to make your first hours more productive and less frustrating. Towards the end are a few nuggets that we’ve figured out over the last week of getting blown to Helghast and back, but in the meantime, it’s over to Eric!
What are the top 5 unlocks to help a new player rank up and progress the fastest:
1. Corpse Counter Medal. This is relatively easy to get and gives you loads of extra points when playing Bodycount. 2. Retrieval Corps Medal. Increases amount of points gained for returning a Search and Retrieve objective. Can be very lucrative. 3. Assassins League Medal. One kill, many points. Not too hard to get either. 4. Black Belt Medal. Melee kills are very impressive and fun to do. This medal increases your satisfaction by giving you extra points while doing them. 5. Example Soldier Medal. This lets you start with more ammunition when you spawn, enabling you to fight longer and kill more bad guys.
In 50 words or less, tell our readers how to maximise the ability of each class to rain pure terror and pain upon the battlefield.
1. Assault - Boost is your best friend. Save it for when you need it the most. Remember, boost also instantly starts your health regeneration, so using it in a fire fight not only allows you to dodge bullets, it also makes you feel better. A definite edge over your opponent. 2. Medic - Throw a couple of medkits at the area you are going to defend, even when you do not need them yet. This lets you pick them up as you fight, so you can concentrate on aiming and living longer during the fight. 3. Engineer - Repairing is easier than killing, so try and focus on this. Run around the level, locate enemy ammunition boxes and emplaced weapons, destroy them and repair them for your team. You help your team out, with the added bonus of scoring points. 4. Saboteur - Proximity mines are best placed around mission objectives; on top of a Search and Retrieve return location of the enemy; around a Capture and Hold area; on the Search and Destroy locations. Players are usually so pre-occupied with doing the missions, they forget to check for mines. 5. Scout - Spot and Mark as much as possible. The ability is quick and recharges quickly too, so why not use it? It helps you detect targets from really far away, relays them to your friends and helps you snipe them. Win, win, win! 6. Tactician - The best place to throw a Spawn Grenade is not right next to an objective but in a room next to it. This prevents spawn camping as well as giving your team mates a breather before they have to start shooting.
What are “Eric’s Top Five Tips for Not Becoming a Hunk of Bleeding Meat” when playing KZ2?
1. Think before you spawn; check the spawn camera and make sure you don't spawn in the middle of a rocket-fest. 2. Create squads in the pre-game lobby; squads give you an enormous edge over your opponent and creating them as early as possible is key. 3. Stay mortally wounded when you are the Assassination target as long as possible; you can still win the mission when you are in this state! 4. Reload as much as possible; if you have a few seconds, reload! It might save your life... 5. Achieving mission objectives gives more points than killing enemies, especially if you win the round. It should be your focus at all times! (Yes, we’ve bolded this one, as 98.7% of online players are currently forgetting this fact)
We love your maps Eric (even if we keep ending up as nothing more than a red smear underneath a pile of garbage). We’re running out of space though – give us a one sentence tip on each map to convert us mere mortals into gods amongst Killzone men.
1. Phyrrus Rise - Sniper heaven - pick the scout, a nice spot and snipe away. 2. Salamun Market - Best stay off the main street. The alleyways provide much more cover and concealment. 3. Helghan Industries - High ground is your friend. Get to the higher floors and rain down the pain! 4. Visari Hammer - He who controls the central courtyard, controls the level. Try and keep a presence here at all times. 5. Radec Academy - The courtyard might be fun to frag in, strategically it isn't that important. Focus on the library and the classroom! 6. Tharsis Depot - Same as Helghan Industries; high ground is your best bet! 7. Blood Gracht - Placing a spawn point on the higher walkways in the middle area gives you access to everything really quickly. 8. Corinth Crossing - If you control the highest layer of the bridge, you can control the whole map! Place a spawn point there!
So there you have Eric’s top tips, but what about ours? Here are our top 5 tips for new players, based on getting our butts kicked for the last week.
1. Slow down. This is not COD4. You will die quickly and messily if you run straight towards the nearest bang-bang noises. Take your time, and slowly approach from a different angle than the front line. The bad guys will never notice as you pick them off from the side. Explore the maps – there are plenty of side paths to help you get through that turret-infested chokepoint. 2. The best class for racking up kills is the basic Assault, armed with a light machine gun or shotty. This is especially true for close quarters combat, when you’re fighting so close you can small the helg-burgers on the breath of those red, beady-eyed bastards. 3. Buy a headset, but turn your mic sensitivity down. It’s amazing how few people have PS3 headsets, and those that do have them set up incorrectly. A single 4-man squad operating with clear voice comms can be the decisive factor in a 32-man battle. 4. Learn the controls. Stop whinging about how they suck, and spend some time practicing them. You’ll soon realise that they’re awesome, challenging, and change up the entire pace of the game, actually making it easier for smart noobies to survive. They make the game a little bit less about how much of an ADHD Twitch freak you are, and more about whether you plan out your strategies like an AK-wielding Kasparov. 5. Look up and down. Killzone 2 brings a verticality to multiplayer that we haven’t seen since...well, since forever. The maps are multi-tiered beasties that demand you to keep your eyes pointed skyward, lest a nasty scout take pot shots at you from above.
Killzone 3 is an upcoming 2011 first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the fourth installment in the Killzone series and the first game in the series to be presented in 3D and will be the first to include motion controls using the PlayStation Move. It is scheduled for release February 22, 2011 in North America.
Plot
The game picks up immediately after the ending of Killzone 2 and follows the previous games' main protagonist, Sev, a Special Forces operative fighting for the Interplanetary Strategic Alliance against the Helghast Empire. The game continues shortly after Sev successfully defeated Radec and Rico having killed Visari, the Helghast dictator who leaves them to a fleet of Helghast ships approaching them destroying ISA vessels.
The death of their dictator has left the Helghast Empire in a state of internal struggle. Now, Sev and his comrade Rico are trapped in the cross-fire between the various political factions without any reinforcements and are left to fight alone in order to escape as the ISA struggles to regroup its forces and stop a Helghast invasion of Earth. The game will also give players a deeper look into Helghan culture such as their language and showcase whatever humanity they have left within them.
Killzone 3's story will also be more light-hearted compared to its predecessor, which Guerrilla felt suffered from an overly serious and dark story which was one of the major complaints of the original, though they mentioned that it would not be too light-hearted as it is still a war. In addition, Guerrilla Games has hired an external writer to focus on only writing the storyline so as to give a fresh perspective to the story as well as hiring a lot more Hollywood actors to elevate the level of storytelling within the dialogue of the game.
Guerrilla Games has also mentioned that the game's story will be an integral part of the game with dialogue and character development being greatly improved from its predecessor. In addition, Guerrilla Games has also said that they are curtailing the swearing in Killzone 3, which many felt was unnecessary in the dialogue of Killzone 2. They mentioned that the dialogue in the game should be focused on advancing the story rather than "gratuitous" swearing.
The Killzone 3 "Justice Trailer" reveals new characters: the resourceful female ISA member Jammer, as well as the hopeful heirs to Visari's throne, Jorhan Stahl (voiced by Malcolm MacDowell) and Admiral Orlock (voiced by Ray Winstone).
Gameplay
The gameplay will strongly resemble that of Killzone 2 albeit with several tweaks and changes. Similar to the first Killzone, the game will take place in various harsh environments such as Arctic landscapes, a lethal alien jungle, nuclear wastelands as well as space battles rather than only the city-scape environments which were present in Killzone 2. Another notable new feature is the ability to use jet packs in the game, which were also used in Killzone: Liberation, however, these new jet packs will be used in a different manner than that of those in Killzone: Liberation.
The game will also feature a revamped close combat melee system which include new brutal melee attacks as well as the ability to string together multiple attacks in a combo. Killzone 3 is rumored to feature fully destructible environments which is an improvement from its predecessor, which featured only partially destructible environments in limited areas, however, this rumor has not been strongly supported by statements from Guerrilla Games. A new weapon called the WASP has also been revealed, which acts as a multi-firing rocket launcher. In the July 2010 edition of Game Informer, it was revealed that the WASP rocket launcher will have a primary fire and a secondary fire, which leaves to speculation that secondary fire for various weapons will return as seen in the original Killzone. The multiplayer beta has disproved this, though it's possible for secondary fire to be present in the single player or co-op campaign.
Downloadable content
The first downloadable content announced for Killzone 3 is the "Retro Map Pack" which consists of two of the most popular maps from Killzone 2. The maps are the "Salamun Market" and "Blood Gracht" maps, which have been updated for Killzone 3. This pack will be available to purchase from the PlayStation Network. The map pack is also available as a pre-order bonus from various retailers and can be obtained from 7-Eleven's promotion of Killzone 3 for 10 Slurpee rewards points. It is also included in the Helghast Edition.
Development
The game was officially unveiled to the public by Sony Computer Entertainment on May 24, 2010 through the PlayStation.Blog. The game was first leaked to the public on May 21, 2010 through an early release copy of the June issue of gaming magazine GamePro alongside a leaked screenshot. Rumors about a sequel to the Killzone series have been around since just shortly after the release of Killzone 2. It was not until March 20, 2010 that Sony officially confirmed that they were working on Killzone 3. President of Sony Computer Entertainment America, Jack Tretton, confirmed its development in an interview with GameTrailers, but at that point of time could not yet say when the game would be officially announced.
Guerrilla's managing director, Herman Hulst, has stated Killzone 3 will use close to 100% of the PS3's power. The rumors of the intervention of Naughty Dog in the development were denied by Guerrilla: "Guerrilla is working on Killzone 3's graphics engine all on its own, confirming Naughty Dog has no hand in its development". The first teaser trailer for the game was released on June 3, 2010 and features the new brutal melee combat system. The cinematic trailer shows Sev battling a Helghast ending with him taking the Helghast's helmet and putting it on himself.
On June 11, 2010 on Killzone.com and the US PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla Games released a pre-E3 gameplay video. Guerrilla said the gameplay video is made of gameplay footage pulled straight from the game's fourth mission called "Frozen Shores." It featured the new brutal melee system, the jet packs, the new weapon (the WASP missile launcher), and it featured Sev, as well as Rico, with Sev's hair a bit longer than in Killzone 2. At E3 2010, it was confirmed that Killzone 3 will support the PlayStation Move and will be released in February 2011. A pre-alpha code gameplay video was also shown at E3 in 3D; a special screen was lowered and the audience had 3D glasses available to them. The E3 gameplay video featured the jet packs as well as the player riding on a craft using a turret. A recent multi-player trailer, as well as the multiplayer beta, reveals that the jet packs and the mech-suits (from the Killzone 2 campaign) will be available to use in multi-player.
Guerrilla Games game director, Mathijs de Jonge, has been chatting about the merits of swearing in games, and with Killzone 3 he feels the studio have got just the right amount. "In Killzone 2 we ended up with too much of it, Killzone 3 swearing 'a lot more impactful'." he told Edge.Tommy de Roos, principal programmer at Guerrilla Games, who headed development for Move with Killzone 3, has said that he thinks "Most FPS games will be played with motion control in a few years."
Beta
The Killzone 3 multiplayer closed beta began on October 12, 2010 for select participants of the Killzone community.
The Killzone 3 multiplayer open beta began on October 25, 2010 (with a download patch for version 2.02; updated again to 2.04). A limited 5,000 PlayStation Plus subscribers from SCEA and 10,000 PlayStation Plus subscribers from SCEE could gain access to the beta by downloading the Killzone 3 XMB theme (released on October 13 and 19, 2010 for SCEE and SCEA respectively). Selected participants were notified by email with a redeem code to access the beta. This beta was to test gameplay only and did not support PlayStation Move or 3D capabilities.
The official twitter page for Killzone selected 300 twitter subscribers (150 from SCEE and SCEA territories respectively) to participate in the open beta between October 19 and October 22, 2010.
On November 7, 2010, the beta was expanded inviting 5,000 more PlayStation Plus subscribers from SCEE and SCEA territories. Instead of email distribution, these redeem codes were sent out via PlayStation Network messages.
This beta ended prior to the end of 2010.
On January 21, 2011, it was announced that the Killzone 3 Multiplayer Open Beta will be available for download on the PlayStation Network on February 2 in North America and February 3 in Europe through February 14, 2011. On February 1, however, it was announced that the North American open beta was delayed until February 3 and "to make it up", Sony ran a sweepstakes to giveaway 60 Killzone 3 Limited Helghast Editions (not sold in stores) to US players who participated in the open beta from February 4 through February 6. The Beta offers early access to the MP05 'Frozen Dam' multiplayer level, including all three online multiplayer modes - Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone and Operations - as well as the offline multiplayer mode, Botzone.
On February 7, 2011, update patch 1.01 was released for the multiplayer open beta. On February 9, 2011, it was reported that over 8 million kills have been made, 10% of that being Brutal Melee kills. with 350,000 games already played.
Due to the high response of the first Killzone 3 Limited Helghast Edition sweepstakes giveaway, Sony will run another sweepstakes, giving away 60 more Limited Helghast Editions from February 11 through February 13, 2011 in the US (five Canadian participants will also be chosen during this time in addition to the 60 for the US).
Demo
The Killzone 3 single player demo will be available in North America on February 8 and in Europe on February 9 for PlayStation Plus members and on February 15 and February 16 for everyone else. It'll be available as two separate downloads from the PlayStation Store: one in 2D and one in 3D. The 2D version features splitscreen co-op, which isn't supported in the 3D demo. Both versions of the demo are PlayStation Move-enabled and both versions of the demo will take place on the "Icy Incursion" level.
3D Support
Killzone 3 will include a mode that will support Sony's plunge into 3D gaming. The Killzone 3 3D mode will be optional, and will require a 3D ready TV with 3D glasses. At E3 2010, it was revealed that Killzone 3 was built with 3D support from the ground up. In praise of the game's 3D capabilities GameTrailers awarded the title Best 3D Graphics of E3 2010. The E3 2010 trailer resolution is half the horizontal resolution of the 2D game, with the whole image (including HUD) scaled up using the PS3 hardware scaler and render the vision of a single eye.
Impression of 3D from Eurogamer.net:
QUOTE
The weighty, long-barrelled minigun has a real presence in-screen, highlighting the fact that the majority of Killzone's 3D trickery is done via the impression of depth rather than projection. Shuffling behind cover emphasises the effect superbly, each vanishing line and focal reference point making the illusion ever more real.
The game's particle effects really come into their own under the influence of the active shutter glasses too. Snow seems to swirl very distinctly in front of the screen, its fluttering hypnotism starkly punctuated by the bullets which zip and zing towards you. We're told there's a lot of work to be done on the perfection of the 3D yet, and in certain effects that's obvious, but generally the whole effect is a mesmerising one, drawing you into the screen and surrounding you with it, generally just in time to recoil from a projectile or ten. It also adds a competitive advantage, allowing players to judge the jetpack jumps with much greater accuracy. How that will skew the playing field between 3D enabled multiplayer users and their dimension-poorer counterparts remains to be seen.
PlayStation Move has now seen its controls implemented into a few FPS games such as MAG and Modern Combat: Domination with good overall results. The Killzone 3 Beta is available now through the PlayStation Store with spot-on Move integration, and here's a quick guide to setup and calibrate your MOVE controller for KZ3.
Calibration
Calibration in Killzone 3 is quick and easy. Simply hold the Move controller toward the camera and press the Move button. Once this is achieved a target will appear in the corner of the screen that needs to be shot, quickly followed by a second target on the opposite side of the screen. For optimal calibration with Move make sure the camera is directly in line with the Move controller and that the Move controller is in playing position when calibrating. When firing at the two targets on-screen, make sure that the Move controller is moved naturally to the target, and again in playing position for perfect calibration.
Customising Controls
Finding the right control customisation to fit one's preferred play style may seem like a daunting task at first, but with a little knowledge and tweaking, finding the perfect settings is actually quite easy. Taking the game into Botzone (offline AI opponents) grants the ability to pause the game for tweaking controls on the fly, and is a great place to warm-up to the controls before going head-to-head with tough human opponents.
Deadzone Width
This is the invisible horizontal zone in the centre of the screen that the on-screen cursor can move around in without turning the screen. 0% is the smallest deadzone available and allows the camera to start turning horizontally, with basically any movement outside the centre of the screen. With 100% deadzone, to move the camera horizontally, the cursor must move much farther to the sides of the screen to turn the camera. With the high need for the camera to be turned horizontally in FPS games, a lower percentage here allows for quick camera turns, and will probably be preferred by most.
Deadzone Height
This is the opposite as Deadzone Width, as it’s the vertical deadzone that moves the camera up and down. As the camera isn’t moved vertically as much as it is horizontally, a mid-level Deadzone Height is appropriate here.
Crosshair Sensitivity
This setting adjust how quickly the on-screen cursor moves on-screen. A lower setting here allows for easy aiming and larger movements to move the onscreen cursor, and will be most likely preferred by most. A high setting allows little room for mistakes, and we recommend starting out with the lowest setting until comfortable with the controls.
Turn Speed
This setting adjust how fast the camera moves once the cursor is moved outside the deadzone. Once again here, the camera will need to be moved quickly to play at a high level, and a higher turn speed is recommended.
Lock Assist
Three types of Lock Assist are available here.
Camera: This focuses the camera on the enemy when the lock-assist button (aim down the sights) is pressed.
Crosshair: The camera and cursor will snap to the enemy when the lock-assist button is pressed. (Not available in multiplayer)
None: This option allows all the assist to be turned off and also give the access to the Zoom settings, and this is option will probably be preferred by most as it brings a natural feel FPS feel when aiming down the sights.
Zoom
When the Lock Assist is turned off, the Zoom setting becomes available, and has three available settings.
Hold: The camera will aim down the sights of the gun when the button is held.
Toggle: The camera will aim down the sights when the button is pressed, but must be pressed again to switch back the viewpoint.
Adaptive: The viewpoint will adapt to the necessary view needed in any given situation when the button is pressed, and acts basically the same way as the Hold setting.
Crouch
Two settings are available, Hold and Toggle, and work the same as in Zoom settings.
Preferred Settings
Deadzone Width: 20%
Deadzone Height: 40%
Crosshair Sensitivity: 10%
Turn Speed: 60%
Lock Assist: None
Zoom: Hold
Crouch: Toggle
Strategy
Playing to Move's strengths is vital to trumping the DualShock in Killzone 3. Camera movement isn’t as natural as it is with the DualShock, but Move allows for fast and precise aiming across the screen. Moving slower in corridors and crowded areas allows for better camera control, and gives Move the advantage when the enemy comes on-screen as the camera is already in place and Move's speed and precision makes quick work of the enemies.
Reception
Killzone 3 has received generally favorable reviews. Review aggregator Metacritic averages the game's score to 86 out of 100 based on 23 reviews. The first English review of the game was published by PlayStation Official Magazine (UK), which gave the game a 9/10. The review stated "on a visual level, as a 3D breakthrough, this feels like a watershed moment in a revolution affecting all of gaming". The review also stated on gameplay terms, "Black Ops is the only [first-person shooter] on PlayStation 3 that can match this". The voice acting, however, was criticised as not being perfect, thus lacking "emotive punch" and the reason for not receiving a perfect 10/10.
IGN gave the game an 8.5, praising the atmosphere, graphics and multiplayer. However, the reviewer criticized the story, stating "the weak story never develops into anything great." Destructoid gave the game a perfect 10/10, with reviewer Jim Sterling stating: "I don't think the PlayStation 3 has ever had quite such a rounded, satisfactory package as this, with this level of polish, refinement and pure, simple, unpretentious action." PlayStation Lifestyle awarded it a 10/10 as well, calling the game "the ultimate ending to a new form of sci-fi epic.".

Multiplayer mode: Guerrilla Warfare It’s time to look at the multiplayer game modes. The most straightforward of these is Guerrilla Warfare, a new standalone multiplayer mode similar to classic Team Deathmatch.
The objective of Guerrilla Warfare is very simple: You and your team must kill a predetermined number of enemy players within the allotted time. The team that reaches the limit first, or has the most kills when the timer runs out, wins. In the Killzone 3 Public Beta Trial, the Guerrilla Warfare mode can only be played on map MP-05.
Because there are no location-based objectives to fulfill in this mode, Guerrilla Warfare offers an excellent opportunity to explore different parts of the map and determine which areas hold tactical value. It also allows you to amass some unlock points before you move on to other multiplayer game modes.
Video on Guerrilla Warfare mode:
Multiplayer mode: Warzone If you’ve played Killzone 2, you may already be familiar with Warzone. It’s a round-based multiplayer campaign that consists of five randomly ordered mini-missions, each lasting a set amount of time before moving on to the next round. The faction with the most missions wins after five rounds wins the game.
The mission types are:
QUOTE
Assassination A randomly chosen player is designated the Assassination Target. His faction must then protect him for a specific amount of time to win, while the other faction must try to kill him at all costs. If the target is killed, the opposing faction wins. Body Count Body Count is the Warzone’s version of Skirmish/Team Deathmatch. Each faction has to kill a set amount of enemy players before the time limit passes. The faction that reaches the limit first, or has the most kills when the time limit expires, wins the mission. Capture & Hold During Capture & Hold several areas in the level are designated as “capture zones”. Remaining inside these zones for a few seconds without enemy interference will assign them to your faction. For each area controlled by your faction, points are awarded intermittently – so the more areas you capture, the faster your points go up. The faction that reaches the point target first, or has the most points when the time limit expires, wins the mission. Search & Destroy The attacking faction has to plant multiple explosives at key objectives in the level. Once they’re planted, the explosives must be defended until detonation. If the objective is successfully destroyed by the explosion, the attackers win the mission. The opposing faction has to stop the attackers by either preventing them from planting explosives, or by defusing explosives that have already been planted. Search & Retrieve A propaganda speaker appears in a randomly chosen area of the level, and has to be retrieved and delivered to a specific location. Each faction has to try and achieve a number of successful deliveries in order to win. If the time limit is reached before the delivery target is achieved, the faction with the most deliveries wins.
Video on Warzone mode:
Multiplayer mode: Operations Operations is a new multiplayer campaign which aims to deliver a more cinematic, story-based gameplay experience, similar to that of the single-player mode. It consists of a sequence of linear mini-missions, in which the attacking ISA faction must try to complete an objective and the Helghast faction must try to stop them.
The ISA faction has to complete the mini-mission before it can move on to the next one; if it fails to successfully complete all missions before the timer runs out, the Helghast faction wins. The missions are separated by short cut scenes, featuring in-game player characters of the most prolific players.
Operations’ mini-missions fall into three game types:
QUOTE
Capture & Hold As with Warzone, during Capture & Hold several areas in the level are designated as “capture zones”. Remaining inside these zones for a few seconds without enemy interference will assign them to your faction. For each area controlled by your faction, points are awarded intermittently – so the more areas you capture, the faster your points go up. The faction that reaches the point target first, or has the most points when timer runs out, wins the mission. Search & Destroy The ISA faction has to plant multiple explosives at key objectives in the level. Once they’re planted, the explosives must be defended until detonation. If the objective is successfully destroyed by the explosion, the ISA faction wins the mission. The Helghast faction has to stop the attackers by either preventing them from planting explosives or by defusing explosives that have already been planted before the timer runs out. Scavenge & Retrieve Scavenge & Retrieve is a two-stage mission which borrows elements from Warzone’s Capture & Hold and Search & Retrieve game types. During the initial stages of this mission, the attacking ISA faction must capture and hold key areas while the Helghast faction tries to stop them. If the ISA faction succeeds, the second stage of the mission is triggered – here, the ISA faction must successfully retrieve a newly spawned object before the timer runs out.

XP Rewards Killzone 3 measures your online prowess in eXperience Points, or XP. These points can be earned by accomplishing a variety of feats during the game, including killing enemy players, assisting in friendly players’ kills, and completing mission objectives.
The XP reward for each of these actions is based on the skill required to carry them out. Below is the full list of XP rewards and bonuses.
In Killzone 3 multiplayer matches, players don’t just earn experience points during a round – they can also receive post-round XP bonuses known as Accolades. These Accolades are awarded for special feats at the end of each round.
Below is the current list of Accolades. Please note that Accolades have a priority: if you’ve made 12 kills in the course of a round, you will get the 10 Kills Accolade, but not the 5 Kills Accolades.
Ribbons Racking up an XP count in combat is highly satisfying, but sometimes you’ll accomplish a feat so impressive that it requires a more tangible reward. Enter Killzone 3’s multiplayer ribbons, which can instantly augment your combat abilities.
Ribbons are automatically awarded during the game, and their effect lasts until the end of the round in which they were awarded – or, in case of the Strategist Ribbon, for sixty seconds. They do not carry over between rounds or games, though. Each Ribbon can only be earned once per player per round, and there are six different Ribbons to be earned in total:
Bullet Damage
Increases bullet damage by 25%. Get five assists in a single round to earn this ribbon.
Double Kill XP
Complete an objective in Operations or Warzone to receive double XP for each kill. This ribbon lasts 60 seconds.
Increased Accuracy
Increases weapon accuracy for all weapons by 25%. Reduces the spread for bullet weapons. Get three melee kills to earn this ribbon.
Faster Aim
Enables players to aim down the sights of primary weapons 50% quicker. Get X kills while zoomed in to earn this ribbon.
Faster Reload
Enables players to reload faster. Get ten kills without using zoom to earn this ribbon.
While it's entirely possible to leave the acquisition of ribbons to chance, you can also try to actively meet the requirements of your favorite ribbon as soon as a round begins. Depending on the game type, ribbon type, and the amount of effort you have to put into obtaining the ribbon, this tactic may provide a significant tactical benefit to you and your team.
crazy games ... enemy had hard time trying to do objectives, since we most of the time assaulting in front of their base entrance

to counter, you need to be smart to evade and able to cause them a living hell ... i'd use infiltrator to cause chaos

The only way to do so is to escape from base and capture another TSA. That's the only way. When we are boxed in our base, it's very difficult to complete certain objectives.

yes you are right... when we had situation above.. we must sacrifice current objective and try to capture at least 1 TSA..
but its actually not necessary for all situation.. i remember.. at pyruss crater once.. we dont even have the tsa but manage to win it by completely focus to win objective...

Here's the pictures that I took yesterday games (early morning). Besides the kill ratio, the reason why we are top three was we focus on completing objectives and not just the kill/death ratio. Hehehe~~~

the game at frozen dam wasn't good enough, we lost battles near chokepoint and objectives. Not many tactician or some didn't capture TSA at all. Saw one camping left side and died lots of times due to enemy ambush.

sorry guys, had really bad connection despite local connection fine however... international link degraded due to either throttling/bad dns servers. Had to opt to google DNS just to be able to sign-in to psn apparently. It was constant nightmare, hopefully TM will overlook fast and fix that damn problems.
after 1am, however that last game was smooth for me, able to kill. Surprisingly before it was really bad, constant disconnection from the games.

Connection to international link looked worst off for streamyx users... higher pings and can lead to annoying laggy mp online
anyway aside to that
@hakimlaw - what do you proposed for next strategy/tactic regarding being helghast side on Frozen Dam? Anyone can share ideas ... good/bad doesn't matter... just voice out so that we can formulate team plays
4 chokepoints 3 TSAs to be captured 2 teams split.

1st we do what we always counter when being isa and we hate it.. = 2-3 markmen on our side.. of course camping mode to prevent they coming out from the 4 ways...
Then we perform 2 team of tactician.. 1st team lalu ikut tengah.. (and capture the center TSA) cause the enemy cant go out from there because of our marksman..
2nd team going to backup 1st team by lalu ikut laluan kiri yang bawah... and at the same time trying to capture the back TSA...

Easiest rush tactic is 1 team of infilrator secure tsa until the tactician comes
All map cn use
Frozen dam if control central tsa the best
both are aggressive
also bear in mind, please take one mortar beacon and throw near ISA base bridge (likely marksmen camping + engineer turrets)

i always do that but with tactician... enter the game and straight away try to capture enemy TSA.. but they will spot you in the maps.. then it depend on skill vs 2-3 enemy tactician...

The key is the middle TSA. Strategic point to initiate power struggle. The upper platform also vital both left and right because it inter connects the to paths, left and right.
It takes a smaller unit of 3 members each to secure the points but I'm not sure if this is efficient in terms of members utility.
I'll try and play a few games in that map and survey around. Lolz! Spent my days with Journey.
Hmm... been playing alone on these few days... met the clan pound sterling (symbol: £) and some (A--K) members as well.. hope that we (PBMY) can play with them again...

Yeah, you'll get those butterflies feeling in your stomach, some dizziness, disorientation, and plain uneasiness like want to throw up or something. It's bad until you couldn't sleep afterward.

Maybe they are optimistic that the objective can be achieved in a minute time. LOLZ! Sometimes they talk bull crap and I don;t know why, I really enjoyed hearing them talking. For example:
Person A: You know what, I took that bullets for you man. You should be thankful for my bravery. Person B: Yeah, right...(sarcastically)

Anyway thanks guys for all the KZUNDI and support. i'm abit shock right now. will try to give my knowledge and experience from my military tactician school in the game Firstly, is time we enforced that those who wanna play with us should get a mic. You dunt have to buy the expensive one, usb mic also can. Communication is important. without it, we will not have an organize and tactical teams. SO PLEASE HAVE A MIC FOR EVERY KZ SESSIONS I would also like to welcome newcomers. More and more newcomers have join after GG release the full MP demo. Hope all you guys have a pleasant stay and enjoys the game To newcomers please make the first move to add some of the seniors in the 1st page of the thread. They will not add you cos they doesnt know you Besides that, maybe we can make custom match to assess and learn from the newcomers before they join PBMY. Lastly please be early as we will always have full squad every session See you all tonight

eh. you forgot to mention to the new member to join europe server. nanti tak jumpa.
actually you dun have to. if you sign in using US server and ur fren are playing EU server, you can join them by clicking the square button to join. or even ur fren can invite you into the squad although u hv different server. so dun have to sign in the same server. but yes EU server got more player playing I have forgoten one more things, that all members should buy the KZ3 dlc if i'm not mistaken there 3 (retro, sthal arm and ashes). Like shahreza said we need to pratice those maps. is being awhile we havent played those maps. we need to start playing it regularly to get back our tactical and familarized back on those maps

PBMY (2) - hakimlaw (SL)
Squad leaders, its time to promote your team for tonite session, deadline 6pm.

I'm reporting duty for hakimlaw's squad. Role playing is Engineer : Marksman : Infiltrator.
I'll try to download the DLCs maps before 10pm. I could be home late from work. If it's not tonight, maybe I'll download it tomorrow. Been busy at work these two days.
I'm playing with DS3 controller. By the way, I also don't know my performance in PBMY squad. Hopefully veterans here can comment a bit. Andrew, since you are new and you've seen me playing, maybe you can comment a bit from your point of view too. I appreciate any feedback from everyone because it'll improve my gameplay both individually and as a clan member. Thanks a bunch!
Last but not least, congratulations on refugeez81 as SL. YEAH!

I would like to make suggestion for PBMY 1 vs PBMY 2 Maybe to make it equal maybe SL can pick first 4 member that they wanna in his team and then the rest is base on placing equally each team between new and old members. How's that Hakim? pick ur 4 member first and the rest is base on discussion and placing
For the 1st 4 member i would like to have 1. Ninja 2. Kranion 3. Razo 4. Mechaball

Bro, me got mic no worries. if my 7.1 wireless headset run out of battery because can't take the heat of battle, got spare bluetooth headset also
Btw, any issues if using streamyx 1 mbps on lag or if too many voice chatter?
Dont worry guys if there is imbalance strength between PBMY 1 and PBMY2 we going to do reshuffle so dat each team is balance and challanging to the newcomers. Reminder, we are playing for trainning and fun. so there is no winning and losing team. basically we wanna have competetive and enjoyable game with teammates. So, lets have fun and go to war tonight

its easy to play custom match as there will no outsider will interupt the game. if not have to do kick voting i suggest that kranion/damak/ Tok Wan host as they are using Unifi

Just wanna say thanks. Even though very chaotic, still manage to have fun and get some kills / trophies and ranked up. Now also like Joey below want to get the DLC packs as well After u guys left, played a bit and won some of the other modes but I think warzone definitely is the best.

We play casually, and have fun together (even tho tonite was crazy lagging ). Every wed is kz3 nite, i will try/suggest more new ideas.
Tonite the lesson was to gather support for each team. Its hard work to achieve such feat.

Next session we could try something "new"...
@Joey, save ur CE voucher or sell it off. Still a bargain to get all 3 at RM 39. If you buy the 2, it will be RM 38 so just RM 1 more only
Shah, want to, and also aim for the trophies. I think the tough one for me will be the jetpack kill. Just now just join 1 guerilla warfare and 1 operations game and got the gold trophy already (lucky masuk winning team ). Personally still want to level up so will concentrate on Engineer & Infiltrator class first as they can get most kills before building tactician. I think with bots will help to gain XP.
Next wednesday we play longer lah since public hols. I want to activate my 24 hours double xp and all unlock from the CE pack .

Ya. My iD is Orcinus1202. I played a game with you after all people left. You were in a different faction than mine. Just took this picture before going to bed. I download the whole thing up. I think I used up my voucher previously. LOLZ! RM39.00 only for all these goodies.

Maybe can start with a class that you feel comfortable with. Get used to the primary + secondary weapons + adopt your game style. That's how I started. As you go with it, maybe you can try other classes for new things. I'm also learning alone and sometimes with PBMY clan.

Yeah, I think your team had 2 guys and I had 3 + 1 more joined in. After u left I also left but randomly joined in the other 2 modes to get the gold trophy. On our team there was this Western dude that keep shouting darn lot of 'kata-kata lucah' until I think even Shah commented *LOL*.
RM 39 worth of goodness. Will probably get mine over the weekend. Now not sure what to do with the free DLC *LOL*.

surely is lag..
one time i realize during search & destroy, tons playing as Infiltrator..so i see a lot of rpg flying around, hahaha
i think for next wed, maybe i should focus on 1 class for every mission (or you guys can propose too), hows that sound?
..so newbie like me, ychoon and others can train on 1 class per time..and get used to it.
what da ya think?
Good idea. I realize halfway playing through I was switching between tactician & infiltrator all the time. Have to change for the loadout coz newbie dont have unlock points. I like the infiltrator for the shotgun close qtr combat. As I mentioned earlier, I gonna focus on engineer and practice drone placement but can switch to infiltrator anytime now that my cloak is level 2. In such chaotic battles, cloak helps to get the kills Once I get a couple more points gonna upgrade my tactician and finally get my own air drones!
Realize not much medic around though. Played it once (just to get the trophy).

I played full time Medic a few times. But as the class name mentioned, we are support and definitely kills are not on Medic's list. Revival of wounded comrades is the key.
Hmm...since there's a need for Medic, I might be going for Medic class play next week. Triage++ ability is dependable on situation. Given the lagging issue + chaotic situation that we had yesterday, Medic is not a good choice (in my humble opinion).
last time i play i just focus on medic. accumulate the points, unlock all the skill first only use those category. the only skill haven't unlock for me is marksman (me like rambo) and all the weapon. save some points, unlock particular skill only use the category that suits you. caerkun kill me alot also. always get to my back and shoot me. yeah that usa_sniper talk very faerny. take that b****es. that's why our group so silence. listen him better.

and triage++ too..
due to chaotic situation like last nite, they tend to ignore bleeding medic
a way to help a bit in S&D and S&R mission
Rush and gush tactics also need Medic(s) to support. But I agree with you that it can be a turning point. Especially for S&D and S&R objectives.

I like the way he talks. Actually I had some laughs yesterday too. Besides getting the kills and doing objectives, it's added fun if you hear funny remarks or even vulgar nature remarks. Makes the game more lively.

lagging is helpless, even i revived a team-mate makes me stall "eh, he still on the ground? i'm sure i....." kaboommm!! an rpg hit us, both dead.. (i actually revived him/her, but lag makes revive effect delay...so to try again is suicide)

Rush and gush tactics also need Medic(s) to support. But I agree with you that it can be a turning point. Especially for S&D and S&R objectives.
yea, especially being hit by sniper...can triage++ and get some cover quickly.
Ya. My iD is Orcinus1202. I played a game with you after all people left. You were in a different faction than mine. Just took this picture before going to bed. I download the whole thing up. I think I used up my voucher previously. LOLZ! RM39.00 only for all these goodies.

beside yesterday lagness , i think it best that to have a mic. becoz yesterday game communication is so very the important. example, if someone new becoming a VIP, then u can ask where to hide/ what to do instead going to frontliner and becoming John Rambo.
if dunt have the podewin mic/headset, just go get the normal usb headset n btw i`m still using normal usb headset

Is there any recommendation of headset? What about PS Eye? Can I talk + hear during in-game? How's the conditions? I want to know because I think I'll grab the PS Eye if it is OK overall.

Shah, the PS Eye is the gadget that looks like webcam right? So the PS Eyes act as a thing for me to speak through and my audio speakers for background sound + firing/explosion sound (in-game sound)?
How to improve controlling (movement, aiming) in fps game? I play using DS3. I am so bad at aiming and movement.. so its hard to kill enemy. I am RotiGun (one with no mic lol. some of u got mic, so good can chat). Play with u guys last night, saw u guys aiming, moving so nice and got some kills... how u do that...zzzzzzzz
Teach me sifus.. some PBMY otai got nice rank so maybe any tips to noobs like me..

Besides the lessons from sifu, 1 thing i always try to do is use right stick to turn and strafe while left stick just press forward. Normally in Uncharted MP or other third person shooters, this is a trick. Maybe not so much on FPS coz everytime i c, ppl just charging forward *LOL* and never turn around. Or maybe its coz turning is so darn slow (comparatively anyway).

I hate evening connections, pings just go up by 300ms++ sometimes 700ms++ hence kz errors/kick & ban from server

my suggestion(practice in botzone);
1. set a very comfortable turning speed for both y & x axis for yourself, and master it. 2. do not panic when an enemy sighted. 3. by not panicking, analyse how far your enemy is; - a metre close - press melee - his whole body in you crosshair - press normal fire - small target, having a hard time to adjust crosshair on enemy - press zoom, and fire
from what i observe in any fps, shooting w/o zoom may move your crosshair far from target at a liltle tilt of your joystick. zooming however allow you to better aim at slight tilt of you joystick.
just my 2 cents
i'm a mouse user btw...

when you are on class selection screen
browse using R2, there's option to choose armor, extra ammo, silent footstep, dual primary weapons (unlock according to rank lvl).
