your fisheye is native alpha mount? if you want AF, then it is either the LA-EA1 or LA-EA2. I've seen some aftermarket adapters for attaching alpha mount lenses onto the NEX sold on eBay, but I'm not sure how you control the aperture using these adapters....

my fisheye is native a-mount, samyang 8mm..it got no electronic parts..i guess either one will do, or any cheapo 3rd party adapter can do well also...

but for my beercan, i am not sure...LA-EA1 and LA-EA2 got what major differences? and if i use beercan on nex, will it still have image stabiliser? as the body itself does not contain any SteadyShot... blink.gif

smile.gif 30mm macro can serve as standard prime lens for walk around purpose?
*
previously i am using this lens as my workaround lens as well...it was a superb lens..tip top sharpness and basically u can focus on stuffs from any distance..virtually no minimum focus distance as it was able to focus even at 1cm from your subject (due to it fully achieved its 1:1 magnification at 1cm distance)..so you can shoot anything without changing your lens..from landscape to closeup of foods and flowers..but i sold it as the 30mm still quite tight for me as i preferred 17mm..haha..

C&C please:

sigma OS HSM is, pointless. u gonna off the OS and u going to use MF. u are not shooting sport with it, so HSM is even more pointless.

you do not need macro, u just greed for it only... u wan 'ALL IN ONE' lens, ur style. there is definately some sacrifice or (pointless design like OS and HSM) where ur 2k money goes to, where SP90 can be as good saving u whooping 2k for other stuff. oh, SP90 is SHARP, too sharp for portrait. ask around, achew, ahpingko, kenhui, those who owns sp90. even if u compare samyang with sp90, u are losing AF to gain F1.4, or lose F1.4 to gain AF. sacrifice. you win some, you lose some. no such thing as win all.

i don have sp90 la..haha..

hmm... watch the tamron sp90, little confuse when i saw the lens can extract - retract which is different to those prime lens i ever used. So, if i was use sp90 in portrait, will that thing zoom-in-out? or when how it/camera will know it suppose to zoom-in-out...

*
what zoom in zoom out?...sp90 is a fixed focal lens..fixed at 90mm...the barrel seemed to extend due to the focusing ring..to achieve 1:1 magnification, it need to extend to such a length..but the focal length is still the same..90mm.. doh.gif ..if u are going to use it for portraits, just set the focus limit to "Limit" instead of "Full" for faster focus-locking...

hahaha...sp90 not sharp and dull?...thats why don bother to get so many premium lens when you cant even handle it properly....color dull or not most of the time depend on the white balance..try to read up on white balance as well as try it out..AWB will only give you the most accurate colors when the sun is super bright..it will give you a dull colors when the sun is not bright/low lightings..play around white balance and the tinting can give you a whole new experience with color moods..

don waste your expensive stuff..make use of it more frequently..think out of the box..else, it is better to keep it into the box and get a kitlens...use it until you are fully capable to pull a decent shot before you touch the premiums... tongue.gif tongue.gif

Wokeh! With the answers above I will now try to guesstimate your gear usage level and familiarity.. haha.. dun take it too seriously ok?...

Overall level : Novice. Could still milk more out of the existing gears.

Suggestion : Put off new purchase for now.

Breakdown on:

1. 18-55mm kit lens
According to your answers, you still have quite some distance to go with your kit lens. You don't hate it yet so no real need to change lens at the moment. As for your yearning to zoom zoom far far.. that's normal. I call it tele-envy and yes it did affect me too early on. What I found was that even when I had tele, I seldom use that range. So now you don't find me having any telephoto lens. My furthest is 85mm. LOL

When I say that you do not need to buy new lens because you don't hate it yet. This is because you have not yet found your most used focal length. You are still in the take everything and anything stage and not yet settle into any specific area.

For me I hated the fact that the kit lens can only go up till 18mm at the wide end. I always, always wished that I could wider. So what did I do? Changed to a FF body and acquired the 20mm wide angle lens! Now my wide angle yearning is fulfilled. Do not like FE so 20mm is as good as it gets for me.
2. 50mm f1.8 lens
Your answers indicate normal newcomer 'bokeh' yearning. Not that you know specifically what you wanted to do with a 50mm yet so you can still shoot with this lens until you find something to hate or fall head over heels in love with it.

FYI, 50mm lenses only have very normal bokeh. Bordering on the bad bokeh side if you must know. Have you seen the 85mm for bokeh? Even at f2.8, the 85mm can render more pleasant bokeh than your 50mm at f1.8 lens. Haha.

I also have a 50mm prime when first starting out. I find it great for portraits but otherwise quite limited usage on an APS-C body as IT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH!! See my tendency to want wider views? When I upgraded to FF I find the 50mm just right for street and normal walkaround. So I got myself the 85mm for portraits. See? When you have shot enough pictures with your gears and have either found something to hate or love, you will not need to ask anyone what lens to get.

3. Your flash usage.
You are barely scratching the surface with flash usage. Flash is useful under almost ALL situations if you learn how to use it. Photography IS ALL ABOUT LIGHT! If you have a flash, you basically have a light source that is totally under your control. What is not to like about that?

I started with the F42 flash (prior to the F43 release) and used it and HATED the fact that I could not get enough power when shooting weddings!! It will overheat as I am almost always blasting it off at full power and still not getting enough light. So I got the F58 and kept the F42 for wireless. Now I find at times I need more flashes! Haha.

So there you go. Now you can see the rationale behind me always telling people who asks what lens or gears to get next to shoot more!  biggrin.gif
