Wokeh! With the answers above I will now try to guesstimate your gear usage level and familiarity.. haha.. dun take it too seriously ok?...
Overall level :
Novice. Could still milk more out of the existing gears. Suggestion :
Put off new purchase for now.
Breakdown on:
1. 18-55mm kit lensAccording to your answers, you still have quite some distance to go with your kit lens. You don't hate it yet so no real need to change lens at the moment. As for your yearning to zoom zoom far far.. that's normal. I call it tele-envy and yes it did affect me too early on. What I found was that even when I had tele, I seldom use that range. So now you don't find me having any telephoto lens. My furthest is 85mm. LOL
When I say that you do not need to buy new lens because you don't hate it yet. This is because you have not yet found your most used focal length. You are still in the take everything and anything stage and not yet settle into any specific area.
For me I hated the fact that the kit lens can only go up till 18mm at the wide end. I always, always wished that I could wider. So what did I do? Changed to a FF body and acquired the 20mm wide angle lens! Now my wide angle yearning is fulfilled. Do not like FE so 20mm is as good as it gets for me.
2. 50mm f1.8 lensYour answers indicate normal newcomer 'bokeh' yearning. Not that you know specifically what you wanted to do with a 50mm yet so you can still shoot with this lens until you find something to hate or fall head over heels in love with it.
FYI, 50mm lenses only have very normal bokeh. Bordering on the bad bokeh side if you must know. Have you seen the 85mm for bokeh? Even at f2.8, the 85mm can render more pleasant bokeh than your 50mm at f1.8 lens. Haha.
I also have a 50mm prime when first starting out. I find it great for portraits but otherwise quite limited usage on an APS-C body as IT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH!! See my tendency to want wider views? When I upgraded to FF I find the 50mm just right for street and normal walkaround. So I got myself the 85mm for portraits. See? When you have shot enough pictures with your gears and have either found something to hate or love, you will not need to ask anyone what lens to get.
3. Your flash usage. You are barely scratching the surface with flash usage. Flash is useful under almost ALL situations if you learn how to use it. Photography IS ALL ABOUT LIGHT! If you have a flash, you basically have a light source that is totally under your control. What is not to like about that?
I started with the F42 flash (prior to the F43 release) and used it and HATED the fact that I could not get enough power when shooting weddings!! It will overheat as I am almost always blasting it off at full power and still not getting enough light. So I got the F58 and kept the F42 for wireless. Now I find at times I need more flashes! Haha.
So there you go. Now you can see the rationale behind me always telling people who asks what lens or gears to get next to shoot more!

well said..
what lens should i get next?..
