INTRODUCTION

It has been a while back since the last AMD mini competition held in Lowyat.net. We going to have it once again, by AMD fans here. This mini Overclocking Challenge which will kick start from 16th March 2012 until 15th April 2012.

The Challenge will be divided into two(2) categories; AMD Phenom II and FX CPUs. There is no limitation to motherboard brands. You are encouraged to participate and bench it with any brand of motherboard available in the market.

The OBJECTIVE
To PROMOTE the overclocking community in Malaysia and DEVELOP the interest and DISCOVER the fun in overclocking.

1- AMD FX (Bulldozer)
2- AMD Phenom II

Rules and Regulations
1. Open to the Malaysian community or anyone residing in Malaysia.
2. No brand limitation on motherboard. Only use retail CPU and no Engineering Samples (ES) is allowed.
3. Participants are allowed to join both categories but will only be eligible to win 1 prize from one category not both.
4. Only air or watercooling is allowed. No cold air is allowed to pass through the CPU heatsink is allowed except in air-conditioned room(i.e. no direct cold air blown onto the heatsink).
5. We reserved the right to disqualify any entries. All decisions made in respect of this Online Overclocking Challenge are absolute and final!

Submission Guidelines (Phenom II)
- Only submission to either Lowyat.NET or OCDrift.com is accepted.
- CPU frequency for Super PI 8m is limited to 3.9GHz +/- 10MHz (e.g. 3910MHz max) for Phenom II.
- wPrime 2.07 is limited to 4 cores 4 threads and have no CPU frequency limitation.
- 3DMark Vantage has no limitation on Core Speed. Number of cores limited to 4. PhysX option need to disabled when using NVIDIA VGA.
- All 3 screenshots submitted must contain 3 different tabs of CPU-Z (i.e. CPU, Mainboard and Memory). Only CPU-Z version 1.58 or latest is allowed.
- All submissions must include a photo of your rig with a paper showing your forum nickname in Lowyat.NET or OCDrift.com together with the date of the benchmark.

Submission Guidelines (FX)
- Only submission to either Lowyat.NET or OCDrift.com is accepted.
- NO CPU frequency limitation for all benches.
- Submission for CPU-z must include validation link.
- No limitation of cores for maxxmem. Limitation for CPU speed is 4.5Ghz
- No limitation to the number of cores for Cinebench. However, if there is any participants that are using 4/6core FX versions, the score obtained will be adjusted to the lower core user. (Example: -Someone submit a score of 6.5 using 8core FX and another submit a score of 3.8 using 6core FX. So, the 8core score will be calculated as 6.5/8*6 = 4.88 (2 decimals))
- All 3 screenshots submitted must contain 3 different tabs of CPU-Z (i.e. CPU, Mainboard and Memory). Only CPU-Z version 1.60 or latest is allowed.
- All submissions must include a photo of your rig with a paper showing your forum nickname in Lowyat.NET or OCDrift.com together with the date of the benchmark.

Start date and time: 16th March 2012
First round submission before: 13th April 2012, 23.59
Second round submission: From 14th April 2012 00:01 to 15th April 2012 23:59

The purpose of having 2 submissions is to eliminate last minute submissions prior to the end date. You don’t like a heart attack with all the backup results right? We will give you 2 extra days to appeal and rebench to achieve a better score from the first round submission.
Only the best results from each benchmark will be taken for ranking. Participants are highly encouraged to submit second round submission to compete for the final prize!

demmm.. khoo is legend.. dunno my 955be @ 4.1 ghz wouldn't even stable at wprime... 3.9ghz only.. need pro teaching me

3.9Ghz very high oredy. mine stable at 3.7Ghz only @ slightly high vcore
i'm using cheap mobo, cannot afford the expensive one..

Ejekly, my 960BE on the other hand needs epic volts to be stable at just 3.7ghz Hmm...lets see if i can get a score

SuperPi 8m no need stability la.. if really your CPU cant even boot with 3.9Ghz, then lock all the cores except 1. because SuperPi will use only 1 core ma.

this is mine... manage to do 3.9ghz @ 1.4v, 19.5x cpu ratio stable on deneb X4 955BE. 2600mhz HT and default ram. thank to abam khoo for guidance

Can still shave quite abit of time there on superpi me thinks. Tighter ram timings?

BTW, is it fine if i use diff OS for diff test. E.g WinXP for superpi & wprime & win7 for vantage?

i have tried tighter ram timings.. sadly my pc wont boot.. if lucky boot, but shown error in testing superPi.. post that for now, will try to improve later

3dmark vantage, cannot run at 4core, will crash just after few second run the bench.
but it can run when i disable 2 cores.

cpu/nb LLC disable, only CPU LLC enable. all spread spectrum disable
vcor 1.45V at 3.8Ghz. 3.7Ghz also crash

Actually its the same as any other 3dmark vantage.but just disable the GPU and Feature test.
If you run all the test also, its accepted. but just u wasting your time

hard time to run 3DM vantage.. cannot run at all at 3.8Ghz, vcore fluctuate until 1.5 edy

Ho Ho Ho. Haziq is on a good platform, spi is about efficiency and timing, bet he have a hyper binned or old D9 under his team ram. i try with my PSC chip able to get 3m 34.980+ iinm. but for sure not under tweak os.

My 955BE give me 4.1GHz max using AMD CPU Overdrive auto-tune. It will bump up 0.1V and keep increase n test frequency till bluescreen at 4.2GHz.
My cooler just barely enough to keep my 955BE cooled at 60-63C during a multi-threaded video conversion session.
All sifu, just clock-up n bench SuperPI and post here?

Second Run From Me. The ram efficiency and timing is important for spi. Do keep it simple.

all thuban score very tempting

having a hard time to get this result using cheap mobo. maybe my mobo cannot support edy...
5 power phase only. temp is not so high for such 1.49vcore. (<60'C) idle around 38-40'C (CPU temp hwmonitor)

my run with 1333mhz c4 still cannot beat the 1600mhz c6

get a 40/80gb hdd just for oc, shouldn't cost u too much.

thuban mite have d advantage in clock & voltage, but from what i remember latency wise deneb still superior than thuban, not by miles thou.
