Good point. To be honest, I felt James was a lousy addition to the Mass Effect series.

They just wanna play it with friends. Its only fun when you do that, replayability won't be ensured though. It'll get old after a while.

I think Vega was an interesting idea though. A new perspective for players who are new to the game. I liked him, he was refreshing.

I think the whole reaction in BSN to the ending etc. is ridiculous. Yes, fans feel entitled to a good ending etc, but on BSN they have initiated a 'retake ME3' campaign using Major Kirrahe's fictional speech as a rallying call. It's ridiculous to see grown men talk to each other about holding the line and winning the war against Bioware etc.

rant mode on:

Firstly, after that crap ending, and Bioware explicitly stating that this is the end of Shepard's story (multiple times at that), how can you be so stupid as to not see past the obvious red herring? Shepard's chest rising...i mean come on...DUHHH he's not dead! DLC or whatever this is not the end.

Secondly, even if there is no proper ending, so what? The game was great then, bar the ending. But it still was a good game.

Thirdly, come on, retake Mass effect? Hold the line? How old exactly are the mass effect demographic? It's a mature rated game, yet these people are acting anything but mature. Seriously...enough with the whole ending sucks and stuff. Just be patient and have faith.

end rant mode

Just as you have the right to disagree with them, they also have a right to protest against Bioware's products. There's nothing immature about stating your dissatisfaction with the game.

Just saying.

Immature is the way the hardcore fans have reacted. There's nothing wrong with stating dissatisfaction, but there's a distinction between disagreeing with something and posting horrible messages on the twitter accounts of developers + organizing an entire drive dedicated to 'taking back mass effect'. A little patience goes a long way. After all, fans have waited long enough for ME3.

My view on this? A deliberate move by Bioware to drum up publicity for the ending. This has been a PR nightmare yes, but any publicity is good publicity, and based on the hints they've been dropping, looks like something is in store.

Not dead? I chose Control and Synthesis. Last I checked, I'm pretty damn dead.

Second of all, this game is sold as an RPG. Supposedly the last in the Shepard Trilogy. If you botched the ending of a trilogy, you should be prepared to receive flak for it.

Finally, this is the internet. Fanboys are ridiculously mad (which is understandable). Personally, the way Bioware handle to end makes my whole playthrough of the game pointless because the ending makes no sense at all

Try the destroy ending with enough EMS. There's a teaser at the end. Someone with N7 dogtags suddenly starts breathing again.

anyway, i believe the ending is a fitting one and the reason ppl are not happy is....
THE FUKING ENDING DID NOT LET US KNOW HOW THE FUK OTHERS WE CARE ABOUT ARE DOING AFTER THAT.
the ending simply not long enough and not telling us enough we need to know.

we spend 5 years, 3 games, to bear witness of the story, bioware simply did not give us enough. but in every games, we lose characters who we really care about, ME1 and ME2 are so, ME3 more so. it is much more unbearable to see characters die in ME3 than any others. imagine the emotion we invest in this game, and i think in the end, it just not enough.
i reinstate, i think the ending is a fitting one, but, just not long enough to tell all the aftermath. expecting DLC...(oh fuk EA)

It's indeed an honor to serve with commander shepard

yeah man. rage will get you everywhere.

The problem is, ME3 doesnt give you any decent ending to the whole 100 hours you spend playing the games. It just shove some nonsensical ending and thats it.

I love the first 2 games, but the final game, its crap with those Galactic Readiness crap, the garbage MP with random card packs and a nonsensical ending. Seriously, i want my money back now. It's just crap to the point that i should just take Mass Effect series ended in the second game. The third game is so lacking in almost everything.

The squadmates in the final game isnt as well written as the first 2 games. There are far lesser conversation option. Less interesting characters like Wrex, Thane, Mordin, Miranda and so on. EDI is fairly fun, but the rest, especially Vega, what the hell is he doing in the game? Garrus and Liara isnt as well developed in the final game too as they felt a lot more generic than the first 2 games. Not to forget, the conversation choices are far lesser than first 2 games.

Then, the problem with all those fetch quests. Go out, bring some junk to Citadel and get some war asset. Combat side quests are even lesser and shorter than ME2. Also, not to forget about the forced multiplayer crap, where you cant get good ending without playing some MP. Did CoD or BF ever did that where if you refuse to play the single player, your experience points earned in the multiplayer is halved?

Also, the problem with the multiplayer, i dont know why Bioware took out the progression tree from games like BF3, but then give the multiplayer a random different tiered cards pack system. It is incredibly annoying as you dont get to plan or foresee what will you get because the unlocks you'll get is random. Some people get Widow in their first pack, while some couldnt get it even after 20 packs. Is it fun to have such system in a game, where you have no control at all on what you get?

Geez thanks, EA, thanks for ruining everything. First NFS series with rubbish Hot Pursuit, then, BF3 with all sorts of redundant content like the single player and Metro. Now, ME3 is ruined with multiplayer and a unfulfilling ending.
*
although i agree about the side quests being dumb, i like the fact that there are more story quests. ME2 felt like an entire fetch quest for me, fly all over the galaxy fetching new members. There're only 3 main missions, Horizon, Derelict Reaper and Collector Base. I didn't like that, I wanted more of the ME1 feel where you collect all your teammates at once then go about with the main story. ME3 is a bit closer to that. And as I mentioned before, I don't think that is the ending. They may have shipped an unfinished product but I remember them saying something about wanting to change the ending due to the Xbox leak last time. I'm waiting for any announcements from developers before I make judgment...
