Sorry bro if the way i ask is not appropriate.
Just wan to understand more on how it works

I dunno the EXACT numbers/prices, so what I say below contains assumed numbers/figures...

u buy gold from Genneva, buy at RM120. Genneva gives "hibah" of 2% a month and gives a conditional promise to repurchase the gold later
u buy gold from Poh Kong or Habib or whoever big name retailer, also buy at RM120

if the blue part is taken out, would u still buy from Genneva?

QUOTE(terry8 @ Oct 8 2012, 02:26 AM)
The buyer dont lose because even if the gold price go down Genneva will buy back from you at your original buying price. This is what attracts the people to buy from them. Guaranteed capital with high interest.

The problem is the company is accumulating losses but they are taking in lots of money from new investors. So when the time comes when it becomes unsustainable, they will run with the money and gold so those who have not receive the gold bar will lose everything and those with the gold bars will lose anywhere between 34 to 50% because they lost the guarantee to sell to Genneva and the outside buyer will take a cut of anywhere between 10 - 20% provided the gold is also genuine inside.

It's a Ponzi scheme

Ahem...the buy-back is DISCRETIONARY AFAIK wink.gif

RDPD did not teach MLMs/pyramids/scams, but it preaches the lifestyle and concept of "financial freedom" in such way that most if not all readers would be inclined to find ways to "cepat kaya", hence MLMs/scams love this book, yea its their "bible" u can say it.

Bank negara laws are quite specific. it does not say no gold trading. trade la watever but no deposit from public without licence, no ponzi.
If genneva can prove that the 2 percent per month comes from legitimate investment, and not from your own rolling money in the same pool and account their every gold transaction, then they can be in the clear.

Back to the question, that sceptics ask. where does the 2 percent comes from? if it is from own buyer rolling, then genneva in trouble.
2 percent comes from hedging? other investments? please prove it.  very doubtful. You know why? because many many many companies or scheme say give high returns, but mostly not sustainable. High return just to entice your money.

The giving of hibah is already scratching the surface of "illegal deposit taking". Genneva claims that they are doing "gold trading". Now tell me, what sort of trader in this world would give interest/dividend/hibah to the buyers of the goods he sell? rclxub.gif

Don't these people need to work? These Ponzi schemes sure create lots of useless people by giving the false impression that they can shake theirs legs at home and money will simply fall from the sky. They contribute absolutely nothing to the society. Some of my long lost 'friends' had asked me out for a drink to present 'business plans' LOL  doh.gif

This applies to not just to scams/Ponzis, but to ALL MLMs. The day expansion slows/stops is the day it goes bust.

No thank you. I don't hate them actually and I do sympathize to a certain extent. Its when they keep insisting on defending the company and calling us ignorant that my sympathy fizzles away.

I do pity the lower level victims, but the higher level consultants? Popcorn time.

To be fair to the investors, most of them were referred by their relatives and families. Many of us would let our guard down.

What's more, the co. is blessed by our former PM and current PM's wife. How could this be wrong? I would have been one of the 60k investors if someone close have me approached.
*
THat is why I always try not to have ANY business dealings with friends and relatives. If things go wrong with a non-related person, u can screw him upside down, report him to authorities if necessary. If someone u know and/or close to u? U worry offend ppl lar, worry for their finances lar, worry they kena saman/jail lar... shakehead.gif
