try ask brudder kk or rory or other sifu.. they hav lots of tempat.. paid or wild ..
ermm lake ar .. u can use earth worm or small prawn. usually "hong"  mixture consist of flour + dedek ayam + fish pallet.. they were commanly use at freshwater pay pond and it's not that effective on wild pond/lake unless u are willing feed them for few week or month... well some might include sand or mud in the mixture.

Hi Bro all, It depends on the target that you wanna catch and talking about going into the wild, it also depends on yourself. Some angler prefers luxury type where there is shades, kopi o ais and relax, some people prefer hardcore, where they need to camp in the wild and going thru the 6feet grasses. It's up to you.

Do share with us more of your style and we can suggest or arrange something out. smile.gif

also..i'm actually a mono line angler...so i'm not very familiar with braided lines, 50 lbs to be exact..planning to give powerpro and berkley fireline braided lines a try...coz i need 2 setup for my next trip..spinning and baitcaster where both reels will be using the same poundage but different brand...any other brands that lyn fishing sifu can suggest hmm.gif ...Brand & model please icon_question.gif

Hi Bro Ser,

That is the targetted fish species?

Braided lines are usually under-rated where 50lb is usually snapped at 70+lb... smile.gif

What is the weight of the lure are you casting?

Usually for me, if i need a heavy poundage rod, i will make one for myself, which suits my arm length, my strength and degree of holding the rod.

Having such heavy poundage rod, it also mean that you need to have strong powerful + smooth drag system.

Where are you going and what is your target species?

50lbs fireline kinda thick in diameter if i'm not mistaken, anyway my vote goes to Berkley Whiplash it's smooth and thin. Their 80lbs macam my 15lbs maxima mono line bro. tongue.gif , been using them more then 2 year,so far no line snap, never let me down.

powerpro line is thicker then bearkley and became very rough after a few offshore trip.. according to a friend of mine.

bro nicotine,

yes, you r right. Whiplash of 20lb is like a teeth floss. I have tried it personally. But not my preference cos it's flat line, not round in diameter.

My vote goes to Stren. Round, soft and thin. smile.gif the only setback is the gold color Stren's color will come off in 1~3 round smile.gif but ok after seasoned smile.gif

my 2nd vote goes to YGK JigMan X4 or X8. Super thin, rounded, strong gila gila.... but still testing with that line cos only used it for few rounds.

thanks for your inputs..both sifu rorytate and sifu nicotine..

The targeting fishie is toman, toman bunga and haruan..but still depending on luck...kiaakkssss. Locations still unknown yet as i've not been there before..but according to the regulars, anything below 40lbs wouldn't stand a chance to land those big mommas because of few factors:- strength of those mommas hmm.gif , snags on underwater structure such as branches, big chuck of woods, downed trees and etc rclxub.gif

hhmm, so for the lines I think i'll give berkley whiplash and stren a try. nod.gif

as for the rod, i think i'll go for some shop window shopping on this weekend...hehe...need to test and feel the rod personally laugh.gif

I spoke to some custmers at RHA and they mentioned that those big toman mommas, you'd need to land them in about 5 minutes or less, cos after that, they will start to hide in thick roots at the bottom and chances of getting your lure back would be close to zero...

well said sifu tinkerfly. rclxms.gif ..thats the reason why i need a heavy setup in the 1st place. laugh.gif , to stop those hot mommas from running back to their playground and hop onto a merry-do-round with my lure in their mouth rclxub.gif coz i ain't want any of my trairao or smith froggie sitting on the merry-go-round. shocking.gif shakehead.gif

Bro Ser, i believe you are heading north to Bersia or Air Ganda or Temenggor Dam.

To my experience, that is the place where the toman are super strong smile.gif

It's more to your skills to handle the strikes smile.gif With a good strong smooth drag, you should not be having problems..

Regarding on rods, get the abu conolon to stop the run, that would be good enough. PE1~3 which at the same time you can do jigging with it smile.gif

Maybe you can share the exact location you will be going? If i have been there, i would be able to advise you more smile.gif I even have alot of GPS points around the same area for toman smile.gif

Bro Tinkerfly,
it's a good choice to have Alphas for a BC setup. smile.gif

Lure it's up to your knowledge of presentation ma, so it's up to you smile.gif

I got a Daiwa Procaster Z with modified drag(carbonmatrix). Very light and durable reel. Selling at RM200 only. Very well taken care of, maintenance is done by myself and it's being lube with the right viscosity oil and grease. Not forgetting super smooth as well, an easy spin to the spool can last you more than 20secs smile.gif

Bro Chun is right,
rig the softplastic with just a hook smile.gif

that would make the softplastic having natural movements. With just a small little rod twitch, the softplastic will be more erratic thus enticing a strike smile.gif
