QUOTE(Tenzho @ Mar 25 2012, 11:35 PM) Hello fellows of MMU students, I have a few questions here. I got my SPM result which is not so good, not so bad. Interested in studying foundation in Law. I went to edu fair today, asked about studying foundation in law at the MMU stand. They say to study for MMU you need to pay RM 20 for the application fee, and they will see your result, NOT guarantee can enter. I'm so confuse, is MMU a private college or under government? Why do they have to check result unlike other private college, got Money means no problem! What are my chances of getting my application approved? Here is my SPM result: BM B BI A+ Moral A- Math A Add Math B+ Fizik A Sejarah A+ Bio B Chem B 1119 GCE 2A Do you have to excel in Kokurikulum too? I get C for it! T.T seriously, what kind of mindset is that? university is an institution of higher learning, without meeting the minimum entry requirement there is a fair possibility that you will not be able to carry the programme. the entry is also competitive due to limited place vs applicants, so money alone DOES NOT guarantee a place. like you have pointed out, MMU is a university not a college so it is a totally different standard.

QUOTE(Tenzho @ Mar 25 2012, 11:54 PM) I still don't understand, university and college. But some institute name themselves as "university college"? Why is that? Can you tell me the difference between them and how to differentiate them. Like Sunway, they got Sunway college, they also got Sunway University. college < university college < university http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_diff...nd_a_universityhttp://www.differencebetween.net/miscellan...d-universities/

QUOTE(Tenzho @ Mar 26 2012, 12:37 AM) Thank you! You can't study a foundation course in a college then further your study in degree in another University right? If I wanna enter a certain University that don't offer pre-U, I have to take A-level, Diploma, or either STPM, correct? all depends on the criteria set by the university, but in general, yes. Anyway, to asnwer your earlier questions: 1- result is ok, good chance. disclaimer: i am not the admin person, so this is my personal judgement. 2- dont worry about co-cu, not that important

AFAIK, muet is only used as entry requirement not for graduation.
■Band 1 for all current Gamma students and above ■Minimum entry Band 3 for all June 2009/2010 intake (current Beta) and batches thereafter. ■The Senate had approved the following: -extension of deadline for MUET Band 3 for those who will sit for MUET examination in May 2010 until after the results are released in July/August 2010. -extension deadline for those who are yet to sit for MUET to Jan/Feb 2011 (after the results of November’s session are released). -all students who failed to obtain MUET Band 3 (July 2010 and January 2011) will be terminated but they can appeal to the President for reinstatement until after the next MUET attempt result is released.

At least put some effort to check what is the minimum entry requirement and evaluate whether you are eligible or not. And dont give such reason like not good enough to choose or etc. Go through the list of courses and narrow it down.

QUOTE(devil94 @ Mar 27 2012, 02:37 PM) Any idea to guide me which campuses is better ? melaka near town ? How about hostel ? If apply how long i will know if i am accepted ? Thanks As to which campus is better, I assume you are talking about it infrastructure/facility wise. Cyber campus is newer and larger and has better facility in general. Nevertheless, Melaka campus is undergoing major refurbishment as well. Melaka campus is not at the center of Melaka town per se, but it is more of a satelilte town within the bukit beruang/ayer keroh area, about 15 minutes drive to Melaka Town. Accomodation is not a problem as there are 2 new hostels, but most student prefer to stay out-campus, apartments, residential area. No idea on processing time, but if you wish to know call up the number: http://www.mmu.edu.my/index.php?req=9

QUOTE(devil94 @ Mar 27 2012, 03:27 PM) THANKS for the feedback so basically if im in melaka campuses if i have to transport and my life will be in the campuses only ? May i know what is the ratio of race there ? What is the average rental for outside ? why they prefer ourside then hostel ? Scare that im not able to enrol and wait untill june waste time :/ on the contrary, melaka life is more open than cyberjaya campus ie. more 'live-able'. i dont not have any statistics but my gross estimation of the breakdown to be 60-70% chinese, 10-15% malays, 10-15% indian and 10-15% international students. bear in mind, different classes/programmes have different numbers. i dont have the slighest idea what is the rental like, but i gather it is affordable. other seniors may know more. most prefer out-campus accom as more freedom, staying with frens (bf/gf ), better facilities, conveniences etc
