Wanted to share the current window installation work and hopefully get feedback on it. Specifically, is this how it is commonly done?

QUOTE(winchaser @ Mar 13 2012, 09:46 AM) Hello, normally the frame screw does not screw direct to the brick..it is tied to aluminum strip that screw to the brick, but i do not know for your case, what type window do you order.Wanted to share the current window installation work and hopefully get feedback on it. Specifically, is this how it is commonly done? |

QUOTE(weikee @ Mar 13 2012, 12:00 PM) Usually it have to be install before plastering. The window installer will wrap the frame with tapes too. for normal/not high-end profile, they will install the outer frame b4 plastering, save on sub-frame mar..but the installer should use cement to secure fix the alum outer frame, the screw/ steel bracket just act act as temporary support, n they shouldn't simply drill here n there |

When plaster it will be better. For my window installer, he will pre made a bracket with some aluminum strip outside the frame, and he will pre wrap all the frame except the bracket / strip. When install they just level it and mount the aluminum strip. Wet work contractor will come and plaster it. This post has been edited by weikee: Mar 13 2012, 02:56 PM |

either direct wall plug fixing or with metal strip fixing, the purpose is just to secure the frame in position. Cement Grouting is the main works that holding the window frame and prevent water seepage thru brickwall. the hole in the brickwall will be patched back with plastering. make sure the contractor seal back all the hole in the alum outer frame.
