as stated what are the softwares used in creating a vector art? recently i've stumbled upon some of other designer's creation and really got into it. And now i heard that you require certain software in creating a vector art. So anyone of you here are into vector art? what are the softwares you used?

Thread title changed, post your works here. smile.gif

Primitive-user here. Using CorelDraw12 from the first day I found out what vector art was.

Still haven't got the time to research on Illustrator.

i say illustrator is the best.. coz if you print it out, the image will remain smooth. Other than that, freehand is also good happy.gif

Another product worth mentioning here is Xara X it offers faster, higher quality graphics rendering.

You can also go to Xara Gallery to see a few incredible work by the masters. drool.gif

vector means it's not pixel. no matter how deep you zoom in, it's still a curve smile.gif

Adobe illustrator, Corel Draw, Freehand are some of examples of Vector Drawing softwares.

Jay Lim, ur artworks are really nice. I like the "Submission for Computerlove.net(U.S.A) and RepublicArt Exhibition (Indonesia)" piece and the "Koi Fishes" very much.

By the way I use Macromedia Freehand, am still learning. I cant seem to grab on the concept of vector art yet. And yes I was wondering too how much time u take to put up the pieces.

Wow those are some really nice large art pieces.
Radical, your's is pretty nice.

PS. Was this made using Illustrator? If yes, using what tools? Or did you compile your own stock images and do that background? Thanks for feedback, very appreciated wink.gif.

Yeah done the whole thing in illustrator CS2 by using the pen and those "shape" tool, the cubes are taken from my trance central design that i did long time ago, re edited and rotated it and place it there, and along with the fonts which i got in www.dafont.com. smile.gif

R a D ! c 4 L, redo the gradient.
Maybe incorporate a "fun" style with more rounded arrows and geometrical shapes. biggrin.gif

redo the gradient? u mean the colors? hehe will do it in time, now not so free for this, have assignment to do. Will try your suggestions when i have the time smile.gif

This is my 1st typography work so bear with me. Full view please. smile.gif
user posted image

I made this for my typography assignment for my college. I decieded to use the theme "Messy" as my main theme and thus this piece was born. I hope the visual elements really brings out the messy theme. And this work is a mess! XD

This is the original though, for the print out for my college assignment it would be in A3 size thus some of the details will be gone sad.gif

And a minor change will be made for the A3 size print out, that is, a chinese word meaning "messy" will be added into it. It doesn't look right in the original that's why i removed it. The word is just for presentation purposes.

The requirements are that only two fonts can be used. And i can't make any shape using the square, circle, pentagon...etc. But I can form them using fonts. So basicly you can only see fonts inside this piece. Even most of the little basic details and the shapes are made out of fonts and typeface.

Fonts used:
3 the Hard Way Rmx by Fenotype
Impact (original windows font)

Fully done in Illustrator 10.

Might change the design a little in time. Cause the dateline is still 1 and a half week away biggrin.gif

there is a font call "base 02", maybe you can try that font.

aiseh... all good vectors arts here...

( kinda reminded me , my abandoned work... tongue.gif )

@jaylim, loves all your vector works dude ! cool and nice, esp on those graphics scenes.

@Rad!c 4l , your tracing is okay. I think your problem is the color toning. Look at the hair part, we know you have problem getting the right tone for each strand of hair to stands out. And the nose outline with the eyes brows should have used the darker tone of the shadow line from the neck/shoulder part.
