Dear All,

Anyone can recommend me a reputable arowana fish seller in Malaysia? Looking for blue base crossback.

And also, can i keep 2 oscar fishes and 1 arowana in a 5ft (length) x 2 ft (width) x 2.5ft (height) aquarium with sump filter?

Thanks.

Dear all,

I got my first blue based arowana at Saturday night. In early morning of Sunday like 7am ish I suddenly woke up and had this feeling that something was not right with my aro. I went to living room to check out the aro and found out it was not in the tank! I searched around and found it was on my living room carpet, it jumped from from almost 2 meter height. I knew aro arowana is jumper, but i never expect it can jump out so precisely from a small hole from the aquarium cover which allow me to just drop the food into the aquarium. Luckily it survived!

So now the problem.. the fins were damaged from the accident, and I can see the fins are healing fine, except the anal fin. The anal fin broke a little, will the broken anal fin regrow and will the broken area reconnect back by itself? I searched online, people is suggesting to do cosmetic surgery to cut off the broken fin......i don't want the fish to go through the surgery stress if the broken will recover by itself...any recommended contact for the surgery? This will be my last choice if it will not grow back. Picture of the broken fin attached below, hope you guys can see:

Next, I noticed there is one white/cloudy spot on its left eyes. I suspect the eye was scratched or had layed on carpet for long period that cause the damage. Will the eye recover as well? Picture attached below also. You can see there is small white/cloudy patch on the eye:

I have added salt to the aquarium to help with the recovery. Now the aro is swimming actively and no other things seem wrong..

UPDATE: The cloudy patch on the left eye is gone, now the eye is crystal clear rclxm9.gif The recovery speed is really fast rclxms.gif Now only left the anal fin....... Hope it will reconnect back of re-grow...

From experience there will need to be some form of human intervention to make the anal fin right again.
How much salt did u add? Maintain clean water, stop feeding and doze appropriate amount of salt will help heal the eye without much drama.

I followed the instruction on the salt package which is 6 teaspoon for every 6 gallon of water. My aquarium rank + sump filter have approximately 220 gallon water, so i added 37 teaspoon of salt.

Do you know anyone who can help to cut anal fin? I will cut it only after monitoring few weeks and it never grow back..

Ok since the salt is only effective if its the correct doze.

I do my own operations when necessary so unfortunately cannot recommend anyone. U can try asking some of the Aro specialist in town. Anal fins can be a little difficult to tackle but given time there is a 50/50 chance of healing properly.

I think the salt is working as the eye is recovered. Well, as for the anal fin...i will monitor see how it goes..
