QUOTE(xowangzi @ Feb 6 2013, 10:19 AM) Okay until when only start feeding? Monitor for few more days, don't throw in any thing 1st. Then try feed it with market prawn. Trust me, unless your aro is addicted to insects like crickets and worms, better feed them with market prawn. Quickly remove the worms if your aro doesn't pick it up, don't leave it there. The ideal response is your aro will eat the worms straight when you throw it in. This post has been edited by kent75: Feb 6 2013, 11:43 AM

QUOTE(xowangzi @ Feb 6 2013, 05:24 PM) What about market prawn that is kept in the freezer for days ? I take out melt it, take away the shell and cut into pieces ? Can, no problem. But dont keep for too long lar. Usually my MP will be kept max for 1 week only. For your aro's size now, de-shell it first then cut into small pieces for easy swallow..

QUOTE(alfsl @ Feb 17 2013, 11:26 PM) hello all. Searching for opinion here. im thinking to put sand bottom of arowana tank so it look more natural. but survey wrote that bare bottom much easy. my only concern, if barebottom the tank looks like aquarium shop. any suggestion? thanks in advance. It's totally up to your preference bro. If you would like to make it more natural like a river wildlife setup with other fishes, then you may proceed to put the sand bed and some woods. For easy maintenance, go for bare tank. Else, you'll be having backache for cleaning the sand bed as dirt and waste are tend to be collected in the sand.

QUOTE(leggedy @ Feb 18 2013, 02:14 PM) Wont really increase any ammonia or nitrite or nitrate level..ammonia, nitrite or nitrate is diluted in the water.. In the sand bed, the fish waste will be trapped there..what worse is if the sand is being disturb, murky water, fungus maybe from left over food, parasites etc.. At the same time, beneficial bacteria do as well grow in the sand bed..so ammonia will totally be breakdown into nitrite and into nitrate.. So the worse part of the bedding and decorations is lotsa dirty stuff will be trapped there without us know..especially left over food that will causes lotsa fungus and parasite to grow.. Well explained ~ Pro means pro ...

QUOTE(hou @ Mar 13 2013, 02:57 PM) Boss told me from xb fish. selling as HB coz not upto their xb standard. RM500. high price but attracted me with some gold on head since abt 4-5" Oh ok la that price. Just put it in white tank till 14" and see whether can cross or not lo. But the first thing is to see the pearl development. If full pearl after few months in white tank then good lo... Oh ya, 1 more thing. You are using those plastic boards that used for advertisement inside the tank is it? My advise is to stick white stickers from outside. Coz these boards will turn brittle after long hours soaking in the water. And we also dunno whether it will release any chemical into the water that risk your aro's life or not.

Would like to share with everyone here about the pellet that easily accepted by my Red aro (It has been eating pellets of brand Azoo and Hikari, but not much, each time around 10 sticks only). Surprisingly when I threw in this pellet by OF - Ocean Free, my Red finished more than 30 sticks off easily and still asking for more. It was biting other tank mates that attempted to eat the pellets as well...lol... Anyhow, I'm still feeding variety of foods i.e. MP, worms, feeder fishes, bull frogs, will try to convert its staple diet from MP to pellet. So for those wishing to feed pellet to their aro, no harm trying the starter pack which is selling for RM3.90 only.
